Beast Taming Clan: I Have a Jade Book

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Getting Spirit Stones

On the mountainside of Lingyun Peak, there is a magnificent hall, guarded with strict vigilance. Only a small winding stone path, sprinkled with bits of green moss, leads into it.

Beside the stone path lies a meadow with spirit flowers of inexplicable colors.

Still, Ye Jingcheng dared not linger his gaze, for this hall is the Ye Family’s Treasure Pavilion, the place where Ye Family members exchange for treasures.

Moreover, these meadows are where arrays are located; entering them could cause one to get lost or even injured.

Only this stone path was unaffected by the array, allowing passage directly through.

He had quite a supply of Spirit Nourishing Pills, but his Red Flame Fox consumed them quickly, along with a Jade Ring Rat. In less than ten days, his elixirs were depleted.

He had to go to the Treasure Hall to exchange for some spirit medicine, and then refine some more Spirit Nourishing Pills at the Pill Pavilion; he also planned to exchange for some Spirit Beast Meat.

Aside from that, if possible, he wanted to gather the spirit medicines listed in the Ancient Book’s pill formula as soon as possible.

Soon, he traversed the stone path to arrive before the hall, where many cultivators were present exchanging for treasures.

Among them, he encountered his second brother, Ye Jingyong.

The latter had exchanged for a Flying Cloud Leopard, which logically had a larger appetite than his Red Flame Fox.

Thus, when leaving the Treasure Hall, Ye Jingcheng could clearly see Ye Jingyong’s troubled face; knowing that when he had taken the Flying Cloud Leopard home, Ye Jingyong’s face was full of joy!

It was as if he were a different person now.

“Second Brother!” Ye Jingcheng greeted.

Ye Jingyong glanced over, seeing it was Ye Jingcheng, and gave a helpless smile:

“Jingcheng, are you here to exchange for spiritual food too? I’ve finally understood why our Ye Family is so poor.” Ye Jingyong spoke with a bit of a grim face.

“I’ve already come three times, and the spirit medicine is gone, contribution points are gone too!”

“You have two spirit beasts, you must have come several times too, right?”

“Yes!” Ye Jingcheng nodded. Although it was his first time, seeing Ye Jingyong’s eager eyes, he nodded anyway.

“By the way, when you come, Second Brother will take you to get spirit stones; they’ll be sure to last you for quite a while!” Ye Jingyong suddenly thought of something, rubbing his thumb and index fingers together, finally showing some smile.

But Ye Jingcheng was skeptical about it.

The Jing generation grew up on Lingyun Peak, so he naturally knew Ye Jingyong’s character.

His ways of getting spirit stones were questionable.

“Rest assured, it’s not me, it’s the Fourth Brother leading the way; he gave this news to me, now you believe it right?”

“Is Fourth Brother calling?” Ye Jingcheng was tempted now; Fourth Brother Ye Jingyu was quite the opposite of Second Brother Ye Jingyong: one being the Ye family’s Jing generation’s brain, the other a brute!

“Of course, but Fourth Brother said to wait another month.” Ye Jingyong spoke.

Seeing Ye Jingcheng nod, he leaned closer to Ye Jingcheng’s ear.

“It’s the Demon Valley that the family already swept through; it has spirit veins, definitely attracting demon beasts again. Just need to wait a little longer.”

After speaking, Ye Jingyong bid farewell and left.

And after pondering for a while, Ye Jingcheng nodded as well. His Fourth Brother deserved the title of brain; the Demon Valley left behind many bloody scents, the stronger demon beasts wouldn’t rush back so soon, it’s the Tier One early-stage beasts that can’t resist the allure of the spirit veins, occupying it first.

At this timing, if seized properly, there’s no worry of reaping rewards.

Certainly, Ye Jingcheng agreed, for another reason: Ye Jingyu’s father is the Ye Family’s patriarch, Ye Xingliu.

He is also one of the only two Foundation Establishment cultivators in the Ye family; letting Ye Jingyu partake surely meant Ye Jingyu had life-saving measures on hand, even if encountering danger, they would not result in demise, at most a fruitless run or some spirit stone loss but definitely not life-threatening.

Ye Jingcheng pondered a bit, then shook his head to dispel the notion; with a month still remaining, no need to rush.

Afterward, he entered the Treasure Hall, holding the clan’s token, beginning to exchange for spirit medicine.

The one in charge of the Treasure Pavilion was Ye Jingcheng’s eighth grandfather, Ye Haiping.

“Eighth Grandfather!” Ye Jingcheng proactively stepped forward, organizing and returning the spirit medicine he had taken earlier, which was still half remaining, to the cabinet behind.

The Ye family’s spirit medicines divided into two types: Tier One Middle-grade and below were majorly stored at the artifact cabinet behind to nurture, while those above Tier One Middle-grade were stored within the Ye family’s storage bags, preserved with spirit jade.

“Jingcheng, Eighth Grandfather can manage it himself, it won’t take long.”

“Eighth Grandfather, Jingcheng is eager to exchange for spirit medicines!” Ye Jingcheng replied with a smile.

Seeing Ye Jingcheng speak so, Ye Haiping recognized Ye Jingcheng’s goodwill, letting Ye Jingcheng assist.

Soon, everything was organized.

“What do you wish to exchange for?” Ye Haiping clapped his hands.

“Ten portions of spirit medicines for Spirit Nourishing Pills, additional twenty pounds of Spirit Beast Meat, two Antitoxic Pills for healing injuries, and two Blood Essence Pills!” Ye Jingcheng listed one by one.

These words he had long planned; the Red Flame Fox could not suddenly recover, must reveal recovery slowly, bit by bit.

Then provide everyone a process.

But Ye Haiping perceived it clearly, a bit inquisitive wondering:

“Is the Red Flame Fox recovering then?”

Ye Jingcheng shook his head:

“No such luck, just some vitality left, poison seems to have partly faded, Jingcheng just has wild dreams of picking up a bargain.”

“Survival is all that matters; that beast is not simple, can endure, shows talent beyond our expectation, Kid, you are indeed lucky.” Ye Haiping nodded, highly praising.

For a full-strength Red Flame Fox cub valued at least a thousand or two contribution points as a base, surely Ye Jingcheng seized a favorable opportunity.

Ye Haiping spoke while fetching some spirit medicine for Spirit Nourishing Pills from the artifact cabinet behind, soon having gathered ten portions.

Moreover, he retrieved a colossal wooden box from the Spirit Beast Bag, its surface attached with a spirit talisman.

The talisman was taken off by Ye Haiping, revealing blood and meat inside from a Tier One Iron-skinned Pig, exactly twenty pounds!

Finally taking out two pill bottles, each containing two pills.

“Spirit Medicine for Spirit Nourishing Pills, 2 contribution points per portion, totaling twenty contribution points, Spirit Beast Meat, 1 contribution point per two pounds, totaling ten contribution points, Antitoxic Pills and Blood Vein Pills, each 5 contribution points per pill, totaling twenty contribution points, altogether adding up to fifty contribution points!”

Ye Jingcheng also nodded, passing his clan token, letting the contribution points be deducted.

And those Spirit Beast Meat and spirit medicine materials fell into his storage bag.

“Eighth Grandfather, may Jingcheng consult you a bit more!” Ye Jingcheng took out a jade talisman.

Engraving the spirit medicines he saw in the ancient book but didn’t recognize.

“This is Cyan Fish Fruit, named for its resemblance to a cyan fish, it’s a Tier One High-Grade spirit fruit…”

…

Ye Haiping explained each one to Ye Jingcheng!

Ye Jingcheng listened, feeling a bit bitter in his heart; that spirit pill was at least Tier One High-Grade, his current alchemy skill couldn’t refine it.

“Eighth Grandfather, then I will exchange for some spirit talismans, two Golden Sword Talismans, and two Wood Vine Talismans, two Water Shield Talismans!” Ye Jingcheng hesitated a while, then withdrew his token.

Going to Taihang Mountain’s Demon Valley, in a month’s time at least required some preparation, and spirit talismans were the best to have.

“Good!” Ye Haiping reached into the storage bag again, quickly retrieving six spirit talismans, all Tier One Middle-grade, even within the Ye family’s clan exchange, each costing ten contribution points a piece.

“Total sixty contribution points!”
