Upon hearing Lin Tian’s words, Fang Shilei thought this was the most nonsensical excuse he had ever given and immediately snapped, “I think you deliberately passed by with ill intentions!

If it was really just passing by, no one would believe you!”

Well, the other party had completely regarded him as a hooligan now!

Lin Tian spread his hands, showing a helpless expression.

Seeing something was amiss, Xu Tangge, Liiu Nai’er, and Fatty Datou were all startled.

“Fool, did you bully Teacher Fang?”

Fatty Datou glanced at Fang Shilei, who looked like she wanted to annihilate Lin Tian, and then asked Lin Tian in a low voice.

“Not at all, I just helped her deliver some items!”

Lin Tian grimaced, feeling utterly helpless.

“And you say you did nothing!

You spied on me…”

In her urgency, Fang Shilei raised her voice but paused halfway, realizing she couldn’t mention the peeping incident, and quickly changed her accusation, “You stole my underwear, and you say you didn’t bully me!

You’re nothing but a hooligan!”

Stole clothes?

Xu Tangge, Liiu Nai’er, and Fatty Datou looked at each other in confusion.

“Teacher, are those clothes the pure white, large cover that you’re talking about?”

Liiu Nai’er stepped forward, then pointed to the two white items in a bucket and blinked her beautiful eyes.

“How… how did you know?”

Fang Shilei’s expression froze, vaguely sensing that things were not as she thought.

Hearing Fang Shilei’s words, everyone exchanged glances.

It was evident that Fang Shilei had misunderstood.

Immediately, Xu Tangge started to explain, “Teacher, your clothes drifted downstream.

It was Lin Tian who fetched them and brought them to you!

He wasn’t stealing your clothes!”

“Ah…”

Realizing the truth, Fang Shilei was suddenly dumbfounded.

Turns out he was just delivering her underwear, and she happened to be addressing an issue there!

Thinking this, Fang Shilei’s face turned red, and she started to feel a bit embarrassed.

But, remembering how she had been fully exposed, and he had touched and brushed against her, Fang Shilei’s brief sense of apology towards Lin Tian vanished instantly.

“Hmph, he’s just a hooligan anyway!”

Fang Shilei glared at Lin Tian, picked up the bucket with clothes, and hastily left the riverside, returning to the dormitory designated for guest teachers in the village.

Seeing this, Lin Tian could only mutter about his bad luck.

“Haha… Fool, you’ve really offended Teacher Fang now!”

Fatty Datou, finding joy in another’s misfortune, walked ahead with a basket of fish.

Behind him, Xu Tangge and Liiu Nai’er couldn’t help but cover their mouths and giggle.

Soon.

The three of them reached the wasteland in front of Youlan Valley.

The river flowed out from Youlan Valley, so it was also called Youlan River.

This uncultivated wasteland was thus called Youlan Field.

There were many hills here, and the small flat areas between the hills had lots of mud clumps, suitable for building sweet potato kilns on the spot.

The four found a spot closest to the river, and Lin Tian gathered some wooden sticks to start building the fish roasting rack.

After the rack was ready, Lin Tian began constructing the sweet potato kiln.

Meanwhile, Fatty Datou had already volunteered to gather firewood.

“Watch closely, first we dig a pit!

It should be in a place sheltered from the wind direction, leave a mud door for the fire…”

Watching an eager Xu Tangge, Lin Tian took the small shovel prepared by Fatty Datou, and began to work on the soft soil.

In about five minutes, Lin Tian dug a pit nearly half a meter in diameter and about twenty centimeters deep.

“To build the sweet potato kiln, first smooth out the mud beside the pit…

then find the biggest mud clump, ideally flatter, to use as the mud door lintel…

then find other large mud chunks to layer around the pit…

and gradually use smaller mud chunks as you move upwards…”

Lin Tian worked while explaining to Xu Tangge standing beside him.

Xu Tangge’s eyes lit up, finding it extremely interesting.

With a heart that could not stay still anymore, Lin Tian rubbed his little hands and started to take action with a small shovel not far away, imitating Lin Tian’s motions and getting to work.

But only ten minutes had passed.

Lin Tian had successfully completed constructing the sweet potato kiln.

A kiln that looked like a pyramid was neatly set up, airtight from all sides and looking very aesthetically pleasing.

However, Xu Tangge’s sweet potato kiln, after a long while, wasn’t even halfway done.

And it was still crooked, looking like it might collapse at any moment.

But not to be outdone, after glancing at Lin Tian’s masterpiece, Xu Tangge didn’t give up and managed to place the last piece of clay on the pointed top.

“For the first time, not bad at all!”

Looking at the wind-leaking, crooked sweet potato kiln, Lin Tian tried to hold back his laughter.

“Don’t laugh!

Wait a while and I’m going to start a fire too, put a few sweet potatoes in!”

Xu Tangge wrinkled her little nose and waved her fist.

“Sister Tang Ge, his looks good but isn’t practical!”

Liu Nai’er stepped forward and comforted her, “Yours might not look good, but perhaps the sweet potatoes will taste even better!”

Before long.

Fatty Datou came back carrying a bunch of dry firewood.

“Big Head, you handle the fire and the grilling of the fish!”

Fatty Datou set down the firewood and smiled mysteriously, “I’ll go get some more game!”

Lin Tian nodded, took over the firewood, and skillfully started fires underneath both the sweet potato kilns and the fish grill.

Then, he skewered the gutted fish and started grilling them.

“What game?”

As the fire stabilized, Lin Tian turned back to look at Fatty Datou, curious.

“I found a field mouse den!

Watch me smoke them out!

Today we’re eating sweet potatoes and grilled fish, and also grilled mice!”

Fatty Datou walked to a hill a dozen meters away, parted a lush bush, and revealed a huge mouse hole.

Then he walked around the hill, “Haha, their second exit is here!

Just smoke it a bit, and they’ll definitely run out from this small exit, then we catch them…”

Speaking, Fatty Datou started his work.

Using smoke to get mice out of their holes was something the village kids were best at.

As long as there were mice and you could find their escape routes, you could catch them precisely!

“Ah… eat… eat mice?”

However, Xu Tangge was terrified and hurriedly hid behind Lin Tian, her face tense.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, we’ll just eat the grilled fish, let Big Head handle it!”

Lin Tian knew Xu Tangge was most afraid of mice and quickly comforted her, then said to Big Head, “Don’t talk about it anymore, you handle it…”

“So, city girls are afraid of mice, huh…”

Fatty Datou muttered, shaking his head helplessly.

Just as everyone was busy with their tasks, sudden screams and noise came from across the Youlan River.

Lin Tian stood up and looked over.

He saw an old man with white-flecked hair, chasing a middle-aged woman with a sickle across a field of soy.

“Old Man Wang, I was kindly helping you clean the weeds from your field, why are you chasing me?

You really can’t tell right from wrong!”

The middle-aged woman’s face showed panic as she dashed out of the field and ran toward the village.

“You… you filthy thing, don’t come near me, don’t come near my field…”

Old Man Wang waved the sickle and shouted loudly, his words quite strange.

“Isn’t that Old Man Wang from the eastern village?

What’s wrong with him?

And isn’t that Little Clown’s mom?

Their family had a conflict with Old Man Wang!”

Lin Tian watched for a while, recognized Old Man Wang, and his face showed surprise.

“Shh—Big Head, forget it!

What conflict?

Didn’t you hear Little Clown’s mom was just helping Old Man Wang weed?

You weren’t home, didn’t know.

I tell you, Old Man Wang went crazy!

Everyone in the village says he caught something unlucky, went mad!

Only Little Clown’s mom, seeing the old man pitiful, kindly helped… But, it’s not a good thing, she just had to get involved!”

Fatty Datou’s face changed, and he hurriedly interrupted Lin Tian’s words, urgently saying: “In any case, if you see Old Man Wang, don’t approach him, don’t talk to him, and don’t even mention him anymore, it’s unlucky!”

Crazy?

Unlucky?

Lin Tian frowned, his Divine Sense spread out, enveloping Old Man Wang to check him, finding only some emotional turmoil, nothing unusual.

But seeing Fatty Datou’s serious and somewhat fearful expression, he didn’t ask any more questions.

Perhaps, Old Man Wang was just getting old, his mind not as sharp as before.
