The fishhook was purchased in the town, but the rod was simply made from polished thin bamboo found behind the village.

This type of bamboo didn’t grow very large, was soft yet full of resilience, and not easily broken—making it the best material for making fishing rods.

As for the fishing line, it was a fine nylon rope.

With the fishing rod ready, Fatty Datou found a basket for holding the fish, leaving just one thing—bait!

The best thing for making fish bait was earthworms.

Armed with a plastic bag, Lin Tian and his three companions headed towards the back of the village.

In the damp, shaded areas among the trees on the hill, wherever the soil was loose, there were likely earthworms.

They only needed to dig a little to unearth soil crawling with earthworms.

Fatty Datou stuffed both the earthworms and the soil into the plastic bag without hesitation.

Now, in the hot weather, if they had taken just the earthworms without the moist soil, the earthworms wouldn’t have survived for long.

Live earthworms, wriggling on the hook and twisting in the water, were the best attractors for fish.

Once everything was ready, Lin Tian, Fatty Datou, and the others descended from the hill and walked along the tree-lined village road towards the fields not far from the village.

Though it was still morning, the weather had already begun to heat up.

Among the dappled shadows, dragonflies and butterflies flew merrily.

The cicadas in the trees cried hysterically, sounding pleasant at first but eventually becoming annoying to some.

Only for Xu Tangge, who found everything in front of her fascinating and exciting, did her laughter of joy constantly ring out,

To her, every little detail seemed like a world forever undiscovered.

After leaving the village and following the path through fields filled with rice, corn, peanuts, and soybeans, the group soon saw the river flowing through the fields in front of the village.

The river wasn’t big, mostly no more than four or five meters wide, but it irrigated all the farmlands of the village.

On both sides of the river, tall grass and small fallen trees lined the banks, which were quite shady.

The spot they reached along the downstream was the most spacious section, up to several dozen meters wide, resembling a large lake.

Here, the river was full of lotus flowers.

They could smell the fragrance of the lotus even before reaching the riverbank.

“Wow, so many lotuses!”

Xu Tangge ran excitedly ahead and couldn’t help exclaiming.

“All right, let’s start.

Let’s see who can catch more and bigger fish!

I’ll help you put on the earthworms…”

Fatty Datou started helping to bait the four fishing rods and said, “Little Fatty, can you still fish?

And sister, you’ve fished before, right?

I heard that in the city, those rich people, when they have time, take their expensive fishing rods purchased from stores to specific fishing spots…”

“Don’t underestimate me!”

Liiu Nai’er opened her eyes wide, her tone defensive.

Xu Tangge looked around for a while and plucked a huge lotus leaf from the bank, covering her head with it.

She took out her mobile phone and started making various exaggerated poses for a selfie, laughing, “That kind of fishing isn’t real fishing at all since it’s just a bunch of dumb fish getting caught.

It can’t compare to this rural wilderness, and besides, it’s all old men fishing there, so boring!”

Seeing Xu Tangge like this, Lin Tian couldn’t help but smile.

Who could imagine that the grand CEO and beauty, the rich young lady of the Major Yanjing Family, could play like a little kid without caring about her image?

Then, the four of them each found a deep part of the water, cleared the thick grass, and sat down on the spot.

It was Xu Tangge’s first time here, but she definitely had fished before.

Using the tools felt a bit clumsy, but she still looked skillful.

Fishing required silence, so everyone quieted down.

Splash~

In just five minutes, a sound came from the water, and Fatty Datou had actually caught a carp, half the size of a palm.

This made Xu Tangge and Liiu Nai’er look on with envy.

However.

As everyone continued fishing in anticipation of catching a fish, a pure white large cover floated down from upstream, snagging directly in the middle of the river on a lotus plant stem.

“Oh my, whose clothes are those?”

Xu Tangge pointed to the middle of the river and whispered.

When she saw that it was a top even larger than hers, her pretty face turned red.

“It might be Teacher Fang’s clothes!

She usually washes her clothes not far upstream!”

Fatty Datou looked up, coughed, and then said, “It’s in the middle of the river, how do we get it out?”

“Teacher Fang?

Has another visiting teacher come to our village?”

Lin Tian showed a look of surprise and couldn’t help but ask Fatty Datou.

The village school was old and cramped with only two classrooms, catering to all the children in the village up to the second grade.

After all, for children in first and second grade, traveling to the central town school was quite far given their age.

In the past years, some young visiting teachers would be sent to teach here for one or two years.

It seemed a new teacher had arrived now.

“You guys continue; I’ll handle it!

Otherwise, this Teacher Fang you mentioned might get anxious…”

Lin Tian gestured for them to continue, stood up, and walked upstream against the flow, crossed over at a narrower part of the river, and then continued downstream.

The riverbanks were overgrown with lush vegetation, and the lotus flowers in the river were almost as tall as a person.

Making sure Fatty Datou and Liiu Nai’er couldn’t see clearly, he transformed the “Evil like Xiaotian” in his hand into a long stick and threw it into the river, flicking that pure white top out.

The clothing seemed to have been pulled across by a thread.

“Muuu Lengzi, how did you do that?”

Fatty Datou’s eyes widened in amazement, but fearful that his voice would scare the fish, he exclaimed and then closed his mouth.

Liiu Nai’er was also astonished, peering through the river’s lotus flowers at Lin Tian’s figure, full of curiosity.

However, Xu Tangge, who knew Lin Tian’s capabilities, just smiled faintly.

Across the river.

Having retrieved the clothes, Lin Tian, carrying the close-fitting garment that smelled of laundry soap, river stench, and a faint pleasant fragrance, walked upstream as usual.

From his memory, Lin Tian remembered that upstream not too far away, there was a river stretch with many stones making up a natural Clear Water Bay, previously the best place for the villagers to wash clothes.

It was early morning now, and basically empty.

Upon reaching Clear Water Bay, he indeed saw only a bucket with clothes and some half-washed clothes on a flat giant stone soaked in the river water.

“Where’s the person?”

Seeing only the clothes and bucket, Lin Tian wondered, lifted the tall grass across the way, and walked towards.

Chichichi~~

Suddenly, a crisp sound like pearls falling into a jade plate came, stopping Lin Tian in his tracks.

Following the sound, he took a few steps and parted the tall grass to look.

It was a long-haired woman, crouched at the most hidden part of the tall grass, at the edge of the field’s ridge.

Hearing the noise, the woman turned her head, revealing a face untouched by makeup, delicate with two shallow dimples, enhancing her sweetness.

“Ah…”

The woman turned and clearly saw Lin Tian, froze for a moment, then screamed loudly.

Then, perhaps too shaken, she staggered and fell backward.

“Teacher Fang, be careful!”

Lin Tian was sure that the woman before him must indeed be Teacher Fang who had come to teach in the village.

“You…

you pervert…”

At this moment, Fang Shilei’s mind was a mess, feeling both angry and outraged as she scolded.

“Uh…

Teacher, I was just trying to help you, how does that make me a pervert?”

Lin Tian’s face was helpless, he said in disbelief, “Besides, Teacher, this…

this isn’t right!”
