One-Eyed Monster

Suddenly, Kadi’s sense of mischief stirred within him. Stirring trouble was his forte. If creating chaos could disrupt someone’s rhythm, who better to do it than him?

But the problem now is, how can I mess with the thing Kuren is confronting? I can’t see what Kuren is fighting against! Should I simply annoy Kuren directly? No, no, that won’t do. I agreed to disrupt an opponent’s rhythm, not an ally’s. Disrupting rhythm within your own team—who does that? I have to come up with another plan.

However, for me, brainstorming is almost as much of a hassle as actual physical exertion, and a truly troubling matter at that. I don’t want to find myself out of action before even taking a step, incapacitated not by the opponent but by the headache of thinking! If that happens, then I’d really be at a loss. I would’ve been beaten by my opponent without them lifting a finger; it would be humiliating if word got out!

Kadi had to calm his surging emotions. He knew he couldn’t let mere brainstorming defeat him. I have to do something! But what exactly can I do? This is proving to be more of a headache than I imagined.

At this moment, if only Kadi could see whom Kuren was fighting, then he might be able to offer more effectual help. But the problem was, he couldn’t see anything from here. All he could see was Kuren’s pained and conflicted expression. He had no idea who Kuren was battling against! If only I could see!

I want to ask Kuren directly about the whereabouts of his adversary, but I’m also worried that my question might break Kuren’s concentration, which clearly wouldn’t be beneficial. So am I just supposed to wait around? And until when? Besides, I don’t even know if Kuren is in an advantageous position or if it’s the invisible enemy who holds the upper hand.

Kadi suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of frustration. It’s bad enough that I’m powerless, and to top it off, every opponent I’ve encountered so far has been invisible! Is a straightforward fight really that difficult?!

However, now wasn’t the time for brooding. He needed to figure something out and couldn’t give up just because thinking was a challenging task.

After much deliberation and agony, Kadi decided to follow through on his own instincts. My instincts tell me to charge ahead! No matter how messy it gets. Since I can’t see Kuren’s enemy, I’ll just go for an all-out attack on the surroundings... But I’m in Kuren’s Spirit Vision; I can’t carry out any of my actions! All I can do is implant my ideas into Kuren. However, doing so might disrupt Kuren’s rhythm...

Caught in a dilemma, Kadi wasn’t sure what to do.

Kuren noticed that Kadi had been distracted for some time and hadn’t moved. Kuren didn’t want his personal predicament affecting others. Danger is lurking around every corner; my fight shouldn’t disrupt that of others. Otherwise, I, Kuren, would be too selfish. Besides, I have to use my own methods, my own strength to suppress this Bloodthirsty One...

”Kadi, you should go and help the others. I’ll manage here...” Distracted, Kuren managed to get these words out.

Kadi was jolted from his confusion. Since Kuren approached me first, without me having to interrupt, then I can’t be blamed for disrupting Kuren’s rhythm.

”Everyone else is carrying out their combat operations their way, so they don’t need my help. I’ll stay here.”

Kadi’s words threw Kuren off balance, and it suddenly dawned on him that he was in the worst possible situation.

Seizing this momentary lapse, the Bloodthirsty One within Kuren took the upper hand, unleashing a flurry of blows and beating Kuren mercilessly.

Kadi saw it all. His rhythm is disrupted! He’s getting completely overpowered!

”Is having a fight really that hard for you that you won’t even show your face?” Kadi threw in, directing these words at the invisible adversary behind Kuren.

However, Kuren, who was momentarily still holding on, believed otherwise... I, in my current self, am weak; it’s the Bloodthirsty One who is the War God of the Empire, not me…

During this brief moment of hesitation, a sense of desolation overwhelmed him.

Kadi’s words, regardless of their truth, were remarkably damaging.

The Bloodthirsty One, how could he miss such a perfect opportunity? Without any hesitation, he took over Kuren’s body.

”HAHAHA, finally, I’m back!”

Kadi was taken aback by this turn of events. What just happened? Kuren has taken a complete 180! Moreover, I’ve never seen this facet of Kuren before. What the hell is happening?

While Kadi was still wondering, the Bloodthirsty One started to show off.

”You think *you* can suppress me? What a joke!”

This arrogance made Kadi uncomfortable. He had seen many people with great might before, but this was his first encounter with such brashness.

Kuren’s eyes were red as if he was possessed, his body shaking erratically from time to time.

After a little while, Kuren’s eyes returned to normal, and he gasped heavily for air... What on earth is happening here? I’m more confused than ever.

After some time, the Bloodthirsty One made another appearance, his face twisted with fury and spewing coarse language.

Kadi watched Kuren’s transformation back and forth, gradually realizing what was going on.

So, Kuren has been battling this guy all along; this is the Bloodthirsty One that Kuren had often mentioned! It wasn’t until now that I understood. After all this time, I finally remembered Kuren mentioning the Bloodthirsty One residing within him. I had always heard about it, and now, I’ve finally witnessed it.

Most importantly, I now have a clear target. Initially, I had no clue who to stir trouble with. But now I know. Despite both beings Kuren, there’s a distinct difference between them. My target is the Bloodthirsty One—the evil Kuren. As long as I choose the right time to execute my skills, everything will be fine. I’m good at what I do and haven’t messed up yet!

So, when the Bloodthirsty One reappeared, Kadi was ready to pounce.

”When did you get so stubborn, huh?” The Bloodthirsty One was genuinely surprised by Kuren’s resistance. ”But do you really think you can suppress me like this?”

The Bloodthirsty One was widely recognized as the War God. He took lives without blinking an eye, a truly formidable force.

However, for Kadi, it didn’t matter how powerful the Bloodthirsty One was. Because I’m just in Spirit Vision, where the Bloodthirsty One can’t harm me. Everything is going to be alright; that’s what I expect the outcome to be. Disrupting the rhythm can confuse the Bloodthirsty One. Considering the current, evenly matched fight, Kuren has every chance to overcome the Bloodthirsty One. Therefore, I believe that all I’m doing is accelerating this inevitable outcome.
