One-Eyed Monster

Dammit! Igor was seething internally, desperately wanting to curse but restraining himself. After all, no matter how angry he became, Hustace had already fainted.

If it hadn’t been for the Flame Armor, transformed from the Battle Pet Fiery Blaze, protecting Hustace, this rich kid might have already collapsed to the ground.

Kadi was also vexed. He had hoped Young Master Hustace could alleviate their predicament, but now their situation had only worsened.

This Hustace is too weak! Just a little scare and he passed out. I really don’t know how this guy ever made it up Guru Mountain.

Actually, Kadi didn’t know that Hustace hadn’t always been this fragile. Back then, with clandestine protection from others, Hustace had considered himself quite powerful and paid little heed to such trivial dangers.

But after reaching Guru Mountain, he discovered the world was somewhat different...

Then he met Igor and was utterly bewildered.

He couldn’t even imagine the experiences Igor had endured, and the diverse array of people Igor encountered left Hustace feeling lost and overwhelmed. Gradually, his sheltered upbringing, like that of a hothouse flower, was laid bare. The courage he had once mustered, fueled by sheer bravado, vanished completely...

So, when he saw himself engulfed in flames, he didn’t hesitate for a moment, convinced he was done for. He figured the best way to be ”done for” was to faint and know nothing.

”What do we do now?” Kadi, having been punched again, pestered Igor. He couldn’t help it; the punches were sickening, and all he could think about was revenge.

Igor, shouldering their expectations, endured another punch but quickly composed himself. At this moment, it’s better to think of a solution than to be angry. The situation is already dire enough; if I just stand here fuming and complaining, I’ll be playing right into their hands.

Since Hustace fainted so quickly, is there any way to wake him up?

”No, no! We didn’t create this fear, so we can’t pull him out of it!” the Little Black Hands stated flatly, rejecting Igor’s request. They were speaking the truth: they couldn’t dispel a fear they hadn’t induced.

This short interval, though seemingly insignificant, allowed Igor and the Spirits to have an in-depth discussion. Clearly, none of them had anticipated Hustace being so timid and easily frightened.

Kadi, however, returned to the core question: Why isn’t Hustace being pummeled by this creature’s fists?

Is it because of that Flame Armor? If so, then this is simple! Aren’t there masters of fire control among the Little Black Hands? Just have them use flames for cover, and that invisible pest won’t be able to do a thing to us!

Kadi quickly instructed the Little Black Hands to act. Indeed, his communication with them was now smoother than anyone else’s.

Before long, a circle of fire enveloped Kadi and the others, clinging to their bodies like armor yet not burning or scalding them.

A Wizard skilled in fire control would naturally be adept at this, let alone a Spirit that controlled fire.

Once the flames enveloped them, the booming punches ceased. Kadi’s prediction was spot on: the invisible creature was afraid of fire!

However, things often happen by such coincidence. The Invisible Monster’s final punch, its four hundred and twenty-first, landed just as Kadi was enveloped in flames.

With four hundred and twenty-one punches delivered, Wizard Reed’s preparations for his Water Type Spell were complete.

Even though Kadi and the others were now wreathed in flames, they still hadn’t reached half the standard of a Flame Wizard.

Suddenly, the snow covering the ground swirled into the air, forming a white wall.

What the hell is this now?! One problem was barely resolved before another arose. Kadi was about to break down. What is going on? Why is something new happening again?!

Faster than one could say, several holes ruptured in the middle of the white wall, and countless streams of water instantly jetted out from them. These water jets sprayed directly onto Kadi and the others, like water dragons lunging to bite.

Dammit! Kadi also wanted to burst out cursing. They had just put on the flames; they hadn’t even warmed up yet, and the enemy had already summoned a deluge of water in direct opposition.

Kadi wiped the water from his face. The flames around them were instantly doused by the water jets. Their recent imposing aura vanished, and Kadi, before he even had a chance to show off, was once again reduced to a sorry state.

How could he not curse his lungs out in this situation?!

Drenched to the bone, and in the extreme cold of the Deep Winter Season, this was truly life-threatening!

And those long-missed, booming punches had started again!

No, no, this can’t go on! Igor was also soaked through, and he realized the water jets weren’t stopping!

Damn it, those two aren’t wet! Kadi, as if watching the others, was the first to notice that Stan Sol and Hustace showed no signs of being drenched.

Stan Sol tugged at his cloak, implying, I have my Sharkmon’s protection, so I wasn’t hit by the water jets.

Now Kadi understood. The fire from the Battle Pet Fiery Blaze is different from ordinary fire. Young Master Hustace is really lucky to have this Flame Armor for defense, yet the guy actually fainted from fright!

Wizard Reed’s attacks, though not highly damaging, were thoroughly disgusting, leaving Igor and Kadi feeling quite helpless.

Wizard Reed himself knew it was unrealistic to crush these ”monsters” with a single blow right now. He needed to conserve some strength to brew a major attack, so he couldn’t spare much time for these underlings. Although he desperately wanted to send them straight to the Eternal Tranquility Realm, his current strength told him he wasn’t yet powerful enough to be completely disdainful of them.

Therefore, being able to disgust these few ”flies” was still somewhat satisfying for Wizard Reed.

These punches, one after another, combined with the bone-chilling water jets, were indeed enough to make anyone suffer. If it were someone with a less resolute will, they might have been tormented to death.

ACHOO! Igor sneezed. Kadi’s expectations were still on him; he couldn’t just give up.

However, Igor knew very well that the one he needed to help now was, naturally, Hustace.

If Hustace wasn’t awakened, Igor would have to spend a lot of time searching for details.

Only by seeing through everything could they proceed smoothly; otherwise, everything would be ruined.

Igor understood this principle, so he tirelessly continued to discuss waking Hustace with Kadi and the others.

”But the Spirits said there’s no way,” Kadi retorted, having just taken another punch. His body, damp and stiffened by the cold, made each blow increasingly painful.
