One-Eyed Monster

The opponents’ braggadocio was chiefly embodied in those stories, insinuating and mocking certain things, and filled with innuendos.

It wasn’t so much the story that was repulsive as it was the insidious intent of the person telling it.

Kadi didn’t realize that this was also a form of aggressive strategy, albeit at a psychological level.

He had not yet reached this level of understanding.

Kadi didn’t ponder much because he was a man of action, not a thinker. For him, doing was most important, which was part of why he disliked mental strain.

Even though there were times when Kadi had no idea what to do next, he always ended up reaching his goal through a series of fortunate coincidences.

This in itself was quite peculiar.

In Kadi’s mind, there was only one thought: just do it.

Just do it. That had always been his belief; as long as he kept doing things that way, everything would be fine. It was better than anything else.

He didn’t understand what planning or analysis was; hence, even in critical moments, he simply chose to act directly.

Unexpectedly, the Ant Connection Spell actually worked. He had never considered this outcome.

So it seemed that his connection with Igor was purely accidental.

It wasn’t that Kadi never thought; he just thought less than others.

So Kadi continued to act his own way, even knowing the enormity of his current task.

Everyone must find their own unique way to handle their connection to the world. Kadi’s way was to dive right in, no matter what happened.

Just like before, when he had wanted to fight with the Invaders. He believed that any grievance could be completely resolved with a fight. His practical way of dealing with things was simple: If you don’t agree with my point of view, I will make you understand that I’m right.

Sometimes, Kadi admired people like Igor, who could always subtly make him agree to a viewpoint. But for Kadi, his best way to convince others was through a fight.

Even if they didn’t agree with his viewpoint, after a fight, he would realize his mistake—usually after losing the bout.

Luckily, he seldom lost in a fight...

This time, he believed he wouldn’t lose either.

Kadi started to act following Igor’s plan. His thinking was simple, not complex, which made things straightforward.

Just like how he had contacted Igor before, he believed he could do it with other people too.

He wasn’t too sure about the intricacies of the Ant Connection Spell, but he was able to use it with ease. This seemed like a natural ability nobody could explain.

Kadi felt that when he expanded his Spirit, there was a huge net in front of him. Following one thread, he could find Igor. Now he would try other threads.

Following one thread, he found Kevin, but Kevin couldn’t establish contact with him. Not because Kevin had completely lost his self-consciousness, but because Kevin was relentlessly slashing the Dark Force with his knife, fighting its telepathic attack.

After calling out for a while and making no progress, Kadi continued following another thread. This time, he found Simon. The man with the Devil’s Steps was also fighting the Dark Force with all his might.

After trying several threads, Kadi found someone every time, but they were all fighting, using their own methods against that Power of Darkness.

It seemed like they were meeting change with constancy. Regardless of the method of attack, they were responding in their usual manner. This self-centered battle style was a choice most powerful individuals made.

This was essentially about controlling rhythm.

During combat, both sides have their own rhythm; some are fast, some slow. Regardless of the speed, everyone must control their rhythm. Once one loses their rhythm and falls completely into the enemy’s, they find themselves at a disadvantage.

This was why all powerful individuals always paid great attention to their own rhythm. They used their strongest method to attack opponents.

Take Kevin, for example, using his knife to cut everything. It seemed like everything in the world could be sliced by his knife...

Kadi didn’t bother with such profound thoughts. He kept searching. He needed to find someone he could talk to, like Igor. Only in this way could he carry out Igor’s next plan of action.

After trying a few more threads, Kadi finally found someone he could communicate with.

This person was Kuren, the War God always referred to as the Bloodthirsty One.

Kadi didn’t understand much about Kuren. Every monster of Guru Mountain seemed to respect this monster with awe. But Kadi had always seen Kuren as a mild man and didn’t understand where the nickname ”Bloodthirsty One” came from.

At this moment, Kadi saw Kuren looking as if he was in agony, his face alternately flushing and turning pale. Kadi wasn’t sure what was happening.

”Kuren?” Kadi asked cautiously, uncertain if Kuren was in danger at this moment.

”Stay away!” Kuren said with difficulty.

Kadi could hear the pain in Kuren’s voice; it seemed he was also in a fight, although Kadi could not understand his combat style.

Actually, Kuren wasn’t resisting the Dark Force. He was resisting another force in his body—the power of the Bloodthirsty One.

They were facing their most difficult moment, so everyone was instinctively resisting. In such desperate times, everyone drew upon their trump card. And Kuren’s instinctive trump card? Wasn’t it to release the devil within him, the Bloodthirsty One?

So Kuren was struggling to make a decision. He didn’t want the Bloodthirsty One to come out, but it seemed the current situation gave him no choice.

”Kuren, what’s wrong? Are you also fighting against the Dark Force?” Kadi asked naively. He found Kuren’s situation peculiar; Kuren could communicate with him, while people like Kevin and Simon couldn’t.

”Stay away! I can’t guarantee your safety,” Kuren said, his voice strained as he struggled with his decision.

He’d finally rid himself of the Bloodthirsty One. How could he let it emerge now? He needed to hold on to his true self.

Kadi still didn’t understand exactly what was happening. Why could some people communicate with him while others couldn’t? And what was Kuren’s situation? Was this the ’disturbance’ Igor had spoken of?
