One-Eyed Monster

Wizard Reed released the crows, but these were far from ordinary. These crows could absorb Spirit Power at any time, and their shrill cries were filled with hunger. So, when they came across a group of Exchange Beasts controlled by the Alchemists, they chose to attack without hesitation...

However, not long after, this group of crows retreated. What in the world was happening? The feast they were prepared for never arrived. These foes who rushed at them didn’t possess a trace of Spirit Power... could they possibly be corpses controlled by the Undead?

The crows’ hesitation provided an opportunity for the Exchange Beasts to attack. These creatures, controlled by the Alchemists, could act freely at any time and any place. They were not living creatures, nor did they possess Spirit Power. Their main source of energy came from exchange...

This situation left the crows greatly unprepared. They were ready to ruthlessly sink their beaks into the beasts and absorb some of their Spirit Power, but upon doing so, they came up empty.

The contrast between expectation and reality was huge.

Such a contrast could provoke anger, and the black crows were indeed becoming restless, seemingly about to launch a more intense attack on these Exchange Beasts.

When the Alchemists noticed the crows’ ineffective attacks against the Exchange Beasts, they felt invigorated. Their attacks are useless? That’s exactly what we wanted! So, the Alchemists continuously released their Exchange Beasts...

Instantly, all sorts of Exchange Beasts—ants, bats, and owls—ran rampant at the Moonflow Stream.

The black crows, watching all of this, suddenly became unsettled. They were helpless against these things; though the creatures couldn’t harm them, their sheer numbers were overwhelming and made the crows uncomfortable.

These black crows were summoned by Wizard Reed, who had fully transformed after devouring an Earth Dragon and no longer resembled a human.

His summons were him, and he was his summons. This statement perfectly described his current state.

So, these black crows were indeed Wizard Reed...

However, for their first attack to encounter such substantial obstacles was truly embarrassing…

Shouldn’t they thoroughly dominate, or at least directly control the situation? Why had such an anomaly happened? It was absolutely discordant.

The moment Wizard Reed was momentarily confused, everyone else saw an opportunity and instantly launched their attacks.

Spears, Spirit Arrows, Fire Elementals, Wind Elementals—visible and invisible—every attack was hurled towards Wizard Reed.

However, it was in vain. Wizard Reed effortlessly neutralized them all. He opened his cloak, and everything that flew towards him was devoured entirely.

”Why?” Wizard Reed sighed again.

This seemed to be a sickness of his—always prone to lengthy sighs and laments, and unable to bear any setbacks. Why did a being of Dark Forces have to endure so many twists and turns? Why did they always falter at critical moments? Why couldn’t things go as planned? Wizard Reed’s heart was filled with countless questions, but he couldn’t work out why. He felt like he had grappled with these problems for a long time. He didn’t fear anyone here, but so far, he hadn’t been able to subdue anyone. Where did he go wrong? Wizard Reed didn’t want to think about it, yet he could not help himself, even when it affected his current state.

In fact, not only was Wizard Reed puzzled, but others were too. What in the world is going on? Is he going to fight or not? With such an invincible defense system, it’s like we’re being toyed with!

”Hey!”

When the situation became unbearable, someone always spoke up; usually, it was Kadi or, occasionally, Igor.

This time it was Kadi. He had just finished debating with this mysterious intruder and still held the moral high ground, utterly unafraid.

”If you’re going to fight, then fight properly! Enough with your half-hearted attempts! Do you look down on us?”

Kadi loudly reprimanded, apparently very unsatisfied with this opponent.

Even a fight couldn’t be satisfying; naturally, Kadi was displeased.

”You are all but ants to me, easily crushed...”

”Enough talk! Come and try to crush me!” Kadi interrupted Wizard Reed, inflaming Reed’s anger even more.

But Wizard Reed discovered that anger did not seem to bring him any strong reaction. Even though Kadi’s words were provocative, there was no emotional fluctuation in him.

This Dark Force seemed to have diminished his emotions. Neither sadness, nor anger, nor joy could reach their climax. It could be said that the darkness was gradually extracting these emotions, causing a gradual dissociation from his feelings. The darkness wanted to devour everything... It was not until this moment that he understood the true nature of the Power of Darkness. What darkness brought was not destruction, not annihilation, but an all-encompassing, devouring assimilation.

When he came to this realization, Kadi was already loudly ranting.

”Are we going to fight or not? What is the point of all this mystical nonsense?”

Kadi could not fathom the intricacies of this, but Great Mentor and Kuyi Tulan were aware of these changes.

The entire space twisted as the Power of Darkness began to erode this place.

They seemed powerless to resist.

It was a terrifying affair. Facing the devouring darkness, they could do nothing but watch as the whole space gradually disappeared.

”Are we not even allowed to resist?” Kuyi Tulan was a bit unwilling. He felt that losing to the Power of Darkness like this was unsatisfactory.

”We are powerless.” The Great Mentor shook his head. He felt that this silent force, completely beyond their comprehension, had utterly surpassed his previous understanding.

Indeed, it was silent and undetectable. Even the instigator, Wizard Reed, couldn’t detect its presence. This Power of Darkness was continually extending and devouring...

Moreover, this Power of Darkness was indiscriminate. It seemed to want everything, without exception.

Being swallowed by the darkness—this might sound mystical, but it was happening.

Kevin and the others were still discontented. Despite attacking with swords and fists, they couldn’t impact the result of the devouring darkness.

Even the originator of this situation, Wizard Reed, had no means to control the spread of this power.

This power had already completely transcended their existence...

The Power of Darkness—this was true Dark Force. Compared to it, everything Wizard Reed had used before seemed inferior.

This was the supernatural power a Wizard dreamed of—the power to alter day and night.

Perhaps the Awakening of this Dark Force could also be attributed to Kadi, because it was his words, ”Enough talk!” that quietly ushered in this Dark Force.
