One-Eyed Monster

”Try again. Hustace is unlike others; he can see things we can’t.” Even as the pillar of water crashed down on Igor, he didn’t forget about waking Hustace.

”But he might just faint again when he wakes up! Instead of having an extra burden, it’s better to maintain the status quo and think of other methods.” Kadi didn’t entirely agree with Igor this time. After all, the sight of Hustace fainting earlier had been too horrifying; they had been stunned for a long while.

Even the Little Black Hands seemed a bit reluctant.

After all, Hustace appeared too unreliable. A slight shock would cause him to faint. Anyone who didn’t know might think this guy had been hit by some powerful magical spell.

But this guy was always under the protection of others. Imagine how many times Igor and Kadi had been hammered, and now they were being attacked by the water pillar. They had never been at peace, constantly in a state of being beaten. As for Hustace, he was enveloped by his Battle Pet Fiery Blaze, completely protected. But the guy didn’t appreciate their kindness; he even thought he was on fire...

Kadi believed that if he were Stan Sol, he would have removed the Fiery Blaze armor from Hustace by now. Ungrateful, and a burden to others in these circumstances—he was utterly useless.

Stan Sol didn’t think so. He was protecting Hustace because he wanted to use Hustace as a bargaining chip, so he had to ensure the boy wasn’t injured.

Only Igor believed Hustace possessed exceptional abilities that could help them resolve their current predicament.

But this was no easy task, since Hustace was unconscious. Even if Igor knew Hustace well, not all the others would agree. This was a critical moment, and no one wanted to waste time on a burden.

Igor understood this, but he still insisted on waking Hustace.

”We’ve discussed it, and even though time is pressing, we still respect your opinion. After all, many of your ideas have surprised us.” After a short discussion, Kadi and the Little Black Hands finally decided to try again, following Igor’s proposal.

”But if this guy is still so useless, then we’re really giving up on him!” Kadi added finally. He was punched three times and hit by the water pillar while saying this.

A punch struck Igor in the face before he could respond. He grunted in acknowledgment and then moved behind Stan Sol.

This time, he needed Stan Sol’s help.

Stan Sol was not affected by the water pillar due to Sharkmon’s protection, but the Invisible Monster ignored Sharkmon and continued to throw punches at Stan Sol. Although Sharkmon could help Stan Sol block some of the force, the Invisible Monster always attacked suddenly. Since it couldn’t be seen or sensed, its attacks were often surprising. Even without pain, it still triggered an inexplicable sense of shock.

Compared to Igor and Kadi, Stan Sol seemed more relaxed. He had been thinking about how to catch the Invisible Monster all along. If he could just catch that thing, then hehe, it would be in for a world of hurt.

Igor’s goal was simple: he just wanted Hustace to wake up. Though he knew Hustace might get frightened and become like a dead fish again once awake, he had no choice. Right now, he really needed Hustace.

Igor and Hustace were close friends at Yonder Travel Academy. Mostly, whenever Igor did something, Hustace would follow. Over time, Igor discovered that Hustace had many talents, surprisingly so.

Every time Igor asked Hustace how he knew so much, Hustace would always say he learned it from books.

Igor didn’t know how much useful information books could hold, as he hadn’t read much. His father’s earnings from chopping firewood were only enough for family expenses, not for buying books. All the books he had read were from Yonder Travel Academy’s collection.

It was different for Hustace. He was the governor’s son, and the Governor’s Mansion had plenty of books.

Although ”gaining knowledge from books” sounds cliché, it is often true. The more one reads, the more one wants to engage with. If someone also has decent courage and puts knowledge into practice like Igor, they can quickly achieve significant results.

Honestly, Hustace was working hard too. However, overcoming his cowardice wasn’t something he could do overnight. He had grown up in a greenhouse, receiving too much protection, which sometimes made it hard for him to distinguish between danger and safety.

The main reason he kept fainting was that he had recently experienced what true danger felt like.

For someone who has never faced danger, experiencing so much at once is a bit overwhelming. But once this hurdle is overcome, the path ahead will be clear.

Igor was certain Hustace could help him because he knew Hustace had always been striving and making progress.

At least, his impression was that Hustace could see things others couldn’t.

Hustace often said he could see Symbols floating in the air, and by combining these Symbols, he could always see various scenes.

Igor didn’t know this was the Scholar’s Spirit Sensing Skill, but when Hustace mentioned it, he felt Hustace definitely had extraordinary abilities.

”Stop dithering! Think about how to wake this guy up,” Kadi reminded Igor.

Actually, Igor didn’t know how to wake Hustace. Previously, Senior Yuga had helped, then the Little Black Hands. This time, it was finally his turn to figure it out.

Igor believed that the one who tied the bell must untie it, which was why he approached Stan Sol.

Stan Sol didn’t understand Igor’s intention, but when he saw Igor approach, he sensed the boy might need his help with something.

Once Igor approached Stan Sol, he immediately used the Ant Connection Spell.

This spell, he had truly mastered it to its fullest potential! Almost every critical moment required its use.

”Alright, we’re connected now,” Igor said, resisting the pain from the punches. ”Now you should all be able to feel what that moment of terror was like.”

Clearly, Igor had used the Ant Connection Spell to link with the Little Black Hands through Kadi and Stan Sol.

Next, he would have to endure the enemy’s relentless attacks and wake Hustace.
