Chapter 149: Chapter 148: No More Games, I’m a Divine Favored Too

In an instant, all eyes turned to the person who had spoken.

It was Jon.

”Mr. Jon! What did you say? You have a way? Tell me! What is it?!”

Paris jerked his head up, like a drowning man grasping at his last straw.

Jon didn’t answer Paris immediately. Instead, he looked toward Xina and Xia, who wore the same expressions of shock and doubt.

”Completely purifying the resentful spirit would kill the host at the same time. I agree with that point.”

”But what if we don’t aim for ’complete Purification,’ but for a ’seal’ instead?”

”The Blizzard ritual is continuously absorbing Negative Energy from Miss Emily’s body to sustain itself. But looking at it another way, if she weren’t sustaining the ritual, Miss Emily probably wouldn’t have survived this long in her condition.”

He pointed at the barely breathing Emily.

”In a way, the resentful spirit’s Power is what’s sustaining her Life.”

”To break the Blizzard, we have to purify the resentful spirit. But once the spirit is gone, Emily, as the ’host,’ will also collapse. That’s obviously not the outcome we want.”

Jon paused, giving everyone a moment to digest his words, then quickened his pace.

”Let’s try a different approach. If we can use something like a ’seal’ to sever her connection to the ritual, the situation will improve greatly.”

”This has two benefits.”

”First, cut off from its supply of Negative Energy, the Blizzard ritual, even if it doesn’t dissipate immediately, should be significantly weakened. At that point, we can consider using the aid of a Divine Technique to force our way out.”

”Second, with Emily sealed, we’ll gain precious time.”

Jon’s gaze swept over everyone, finally landing on Paris’s hopeful face.

”We can use the time we buy to find a way to safely remove the resentful spirit, or to heal Emily completely.”

”Whether it’s seeking out a High Tier Priest or Purification Mage, or finding some special wondrous item or potion... the chances of success are much greater than performing a deadly Purification right now.”

”Sealing and isolating... buying time...”

Xina murmured the key points of Jon’s explanation, the light in her golden eyes growing brighter and brighter.

”Theoretically, that’s completely viable!”

”But... that would require an extremely powerful sealing Power... My sister and I have limited skill with Sealing Techniques. I’m afraid we can’t create a complete seal...”

”How... How can this be?”

After hearing the exchange between Jon and Xina, Paris’s expression fell from brimming with hope back into the depths of despair.

In just a few short minutes, his emotions had been on a rollercoaster.

First, he learned his daughter was possessed by a resentful spirit and had become the core of the Blizzard ritual trapping them, meaning she would have to be ”purified” for them to escape.

Then, the feasible solution Mr. Jon had worked so hard to come up with was impossible because the two young Monks weren’t skilled enough...

’Why must Destiny treat him and his daughter this way!?’

However, upon hearing Xina’s conservative assessment, Jon revealed a slight smile.

It was a smile full of confidence.

”Aren’t I here?”

”Come on, tell me about the Sealing Technique you two know...”

The straightforward Xina naturally had no idea what Jon was plotting and immediately began explaining the key points of the Sealing Technique she had learned.

As for Xia, it went without saying. Frank and emotional, her heart had been in turmoil with the developing situation. She also felt guilty for hurting Paris with her blunt words earlier. Now that there was a way to help, she was practically desperate to share everything she knew.

And so, after a moment, Jon nodded.

”Mm, I see. I understand completely now...”

With the two Sun Monks’ detailed explanation, he quickly learned the Sealing Divine Skill they knew.

——

[Seal of Luminous Protection LV.1 (Rare): Consumes 30 Magic Power Value and 30 Willpower Value to apply a ”Protective Seal” to one target, continuously consuming Magic Power Value and Willpower Value. Upon completion, the target enters a ”Light Cocoon” state, and all status changes are halted. Cooldown: 30 seconds.]

——

This was a Rare Level Divine Technique from the Radiance Domain. It wasn’t limited to use on people; it could also be used to contain items that were difficult to handle on the spot.

The move was most commonly used by the Judges of the Judicial Court. After capturing criminals and evil creatures, they would often use this Divine Technique to transport their targets back to the Court.

He hadn’t expected the sisters Xia and Xina to have learned this particular one.

This made Jon look at them a few more times with some surprise.

’Could it be that these two girls will end up working for the Judicial Court in the future? It doesn’t really suit their personalities...’

But now wasn’t the time to be thinking about the sisters’ future careers.

Now that he had mastered the sealing Skill, it was time to start solving the problem!

A Level 1 Seal of Luminous Protection definitely wouldn’t be enough, but that didn’t matter. He could add points to it!

[Consume 2,000 Battle Experience Points to raise ’Seal of Luminous Protection’ to LV.2?]

’Not bad, the cost isn’t too high.’

As they were both Rare Level Skills, the Experience Points required to upgrade [Seal of Luminous Protection] were far lower than for [Dragonman Swordsmanship - Modified]. This was because their complexity was different.

And after the great battle with the Sea of Resentful Spirits, Jon had a balance of 144,220 Experience Points, more than enough to max out this Skill!

Of course, there was no need to do that.

Raising it to Level 7 would already be the level of a senior Judge. The Experience Points required to level up further were completely disproportionate to the increase in power, making it too wasteful.

[Consume 40,000 Battle Experience Points to raise ’Seal of Luminous Protection’ to LV.7?]

”Yes!”

The experience flowed out, and knowledge flooded in.

This was the first time Jon had ever leveled a single Skill this high.

The resulting sensation was naturally quite miraculous.

When he looked at Emily lying on the bed, he could even clearly determine where he needed to ”start” to maximize the effect of [Seal of Luminous Protection].

So, that’s what he did.

”Xia, Xina, come lend me a hand.”

Before everyone’s astonished eyes, Jon raised his hands. Several threads of condensed golden light fell from his fingertips, sinking into Emily’s body and quickly beginning to ”weave a cocoon.”

Seeing this, Xia and Xina hurriedly extended their hands as well, helping with the ”Protective Seal.”

In the process, they could clearly feel their Power being guided by Jon, just like when their matron guided them to feel the Power of a Divine Technique—or perhaps even a higher level than that!

Finally, through their combined efforts, a Light Cocoon completely enveloped the sleeping Emily. The persistent, bone-chilling cold in the room dissipated along with it.

After it was all done, Xia looked at Jon in a daze and couldn’t help but ask softly.

”Mr. Jon... have you learned this Divine Technique before?”

But Jon shook his head.

”No, I had never encountered this type of Divine Technique before. I only learned it during your explanation just now.”

Facing the sisters’ astonishment and the others’ admiring gazes, he said slowly.

”Don’t be so surprised. Have I not told you yet?”

”I am, for what it’s worth, also one who is watched by the Sun God. Is it really so strange that I can do something like this?”
