Ascension from Dual Professions

Chapter 134: Chapter 133: Golden Maple Leaf Album, Surging Undercurrent

For a Level 1 Bloodline Sorcerer, Rosalind’s stats were downright incredible!

Her Intelligence and Spirit had both been 7, but her awakening boosted each by 6 points for a total increase of 12.

Her new talent, [Dragon Blood Manifestation], also granted her an extra 3 points in Power and Constitution with every level, plus a Life Value growth rate higher than that of an ordinary person!

After just a few level-ups, Rosalind would be stronger and have more vitality than Jon himself. Once she hit Level 10, she could probably pin Big Mimi to the ground and pet her like a helpless kitten.

For the foreseeable future, she would have to deal with her Power and Constitution growing faster than her primary Caster Attributes, Intelligence and Spirit.

However, considering she had inherited the bloodline of a Sub-dragon nearing the Ascension Level, stats like these made sense.

Dragon Blood was just that overpowering.

As someone whose Advanced Level class was [Dragon Blood Warrior], Jon knew this all too well.

The enhancement from true Dragon Blood was even more insane than this!

As for Rosalind’s second talent, [Frost Power], it was the same one Big Mimi had, granting her the ability to manipulate the power of frost without casting.

It was an instinct rooted in her bloodline, as natural as controlling her own limbs—the kind of thing that didn’t need to be taught.

However, to unleash the full potential of this power, systematic training was still necessary.

In addition to these two talents, she had also gained two Skills.

The first was [Frost Dragon Breath], an enhanced version of Big Mimi’s [Frost Breath] with greater range and more power.

Jon just had a hard time imagining the sight of Rosalind puffing up her cheeks and breathing out a tide of frost.

’The roar of an evil dragon? Cute, actually.’

The second Skill, [Frost Scale], was a Passive. It was likely the scale-like pattern that had appeared on her skin during her awakening.

Jon walked over, took Rosalind’s hand, and gave it a gentle squeeze.

It was cool to the touch but still soft. It seemed the defensive effect would only manifest when she took damage or actively used her power; it wouldn’t turn the soft-skinned beauty into a little Dragon-man covered in scales.

Rosalind let Jon examine her arm, her eyes full of docility and gratitude.

”Master... thank you for giving me this opportunity, for allowing me to possess such incredible power...”

Ever since their frank discussion, she no longer shied away from using the word ”Master” in front of Reya.

Jon simply gave his follower a gentle smile.

”There’s no need for that between us.”

”You are my follower, so your power is my power. We still have a long road ahead of us, and we need to walk it together.”

”Yes, I will.”

Rosalind squeezed Jon’s hand in return, her cool, aloof expression softening into a fond smile, like a lost soul who had finally found their way home.

It seemed that awakening as a Bloodline Sorcerer hadn’t made her colder. Instead, like a melting iceberg, it was revealing her true nature—the nature of ”Rosalind Neivandt Oswald.”

The contrast was simply irresistible.

At least, Jon couldn’t resist it.

He held Rosalind’s hand, feeling the coolness of her skin, a result of her bloodline awakening. For a moment, the atmosphere between them grew thick and intimate.

And this made the little ”third wheel” stuck between them a bit unhappy.

Reya lifted her head from Rosalind’s embrace to look at Jon, her emerald eyes filled with obvious jealousy.

”Mr. Jon, what about me?”

”Can I walk that road with you, too?”

Jon couldn’t help but chuckle as he watched the girl subtly trying to nudge his and Rosalind’s clasped hands apart with her body.

”You have your own duties, don’t you? Someone with responsibilities can’t be too impulsive.”

”Responsibilities are one thing, but who says a person with responsibilities can’t also seek their own happiness?”

The red-haired girl clearly had her own ideas.

She argued forcefully.

”Even my lord Po Ao says that on the path of life, the pursuit of one’s work and the pursuit of one’s heart are equally important!”

”Ha, it looks like our Reya has become a proper Sun Priest, quoting the teachings of the Sun God...”

”Ugh—I’m being serious! Rosalind, tell him! Am I right or not?”

Watching the interaction between Reya and Jon, the smile on Rosalind’s face grew even more tender.

”Yes, Reya is right. Both are very important.”

Emboldened by the support, Reya immediately puffed up with pride.

”See? I knew it!”

However, just as she was about to launch another ”attack” on Jon, a knock sounded at the lounge door, followed by a deep, powerful voice.

”Jon, lad, you in there? I need to see you about something.”

It was Old Sutton.

Jon blinked, gave Rosalind’s hand a light squeeze, and then turned to Reya.

”That’s one of my elders. If you’ll excuse me.”

He then turned and left, leaving the lounge to the two of them.

Although Reya was annoyed at Jon for ”making an excuse to escape,” she knew this wasn’t the time to be petty. With an enemy to face, there was still much to be done.

But when she looked back at Rosalind and saw the tender smile on her face—a smile she’d never seen in all the years she had known her—she couldn’t help but feel a pang of bitterness.

’He was the first person I’ve ever fallen for. She’s the family I thought I’d have for a lifetime.’

’Two wonderful things have come together. It should have led to even greater happiness. But... why has it turned out like this...?’

’But I was the one who came first...’

’I can’t accept this...’

...

”West, did you feel that?”

Upon the altar, a stylized dragon’s head was raised to the sky. A crystalline orb of ice pulsed with a faint light.

Midia, clad in a deep blue robe, gazed vacantly at the orb, his voice faint and ethereal.

”Someone who possesses our Lord’s bloodline... has awakened.”

”I can feel it... He is right here in this town... Ah... so close...”

Hearing this, the heavily armored Warrior standing in attendance immediately dropped to one knee and prayed devoutly.

”Glory to our Lord Candela... This must be a manifestation of Your great power in the mortal realm...”

”Yes, it must be the power of our Lord...”

The man in blue robes murmured, his expression shifting between serenity and fanaticism.

”He is the child of our Lord, and He is our Holy Son...”

”We must find Him and return Him to the embrace of our Lord...”

When West finished his prayer, he immediately rose and asked.

”Lord Midia, shall we dispatch men to retrieve the Holy Son?”

”No, the time is not yet right...”

Midia’s voice was still like a whisper from a dream, yet he seemed to have found a sliver of revelation within that hazy state.

”I can feel... that the Holy Son is surrounded by terrible enemies...”

”We must be patient. We must be cautious...”

”But no matter what, He will accomplish the great work He is destined to accomplish...”

”It is preordained!”
