Ascension from Dual Professions

Chapter 124: Chapter 123: Smashing Walls and Stomping on Tiles, Wanted Level Rises

The burly man roared. Like an enraged rhinoceros, he charged straight for Big Mimi, who had Harir hooked on her tail, completely ignoring Jon standing off to the side.

’Heh... A brute. No wonder he was left behind to guard the place...’

Jon chuckled. Opening his right hand, he channeled his will into his Magic Power. Three rock-cone arrows, so condensed they looked solid, materialized from thin air and shot forward!

They weren’t fired in a single volley. Instead, they were aimed to intercept the warrior’s charge, targeting his face, torso, and legs respectively!

”Hmph?!”

But his charge was already underway. He had no choice but to unleash more of his Battle Qi, his broadsword creating a curtain of crimson light as he tried to block the attack head-on.

CLANG! CLANG! THUD!

The broadsword deflected the first two rock cones, sending shards of stone flying. The third, however, scraped against his leg armor with a dull thud.

After blocking the arrows and taking a hit to the leg, the warrior’s charge inevitably faltered.

Seizing that brief window, Big Mimi, who shared a mental connection with Jon, kicked off with all four legs. It leaped backward like a bolt of white lightning and landed steadily at Jon’s side, Harir still dangling from its tail hook, frozen like an Ice Stick.

Jon, having cast [Elemental Arrow: Rock], began his next spell with almost no pause.

He raised his left hand, cupping his fingers as an invisible, frenzied, concussive force began to gather and compress violently in his palm.

This force was aimed directly at the wall of the administrative office—the very same one Big Mimi had smashed a gaping hole in, leaving it on the verge of collapse.

It was the final Magic recorded in the *Tivira Academy Apprentice’s Notes*: [Blast Impact]!

BOOM—!

A deafening roar, like rolling thunder, erupted!

The air itself seemed to have been smashed by an invisible giant hammer, transforming into a visible, distorted ripple that slammed into the damaged wall.

Its structure already compromised, the wall could no longer withstand the immense concussive force. It caved in from the hole, collapsing inward like a row of falling dominoes.

A landslide of shattered bricks, wooden beams, thick dust, and ice shards poured down, instantly blocking the rash warrior’s path. His furious roars, and the guards rushing to his aid, were completely cut off by the mountain of debris.

Without even looking back after unleashing the Magic, Jon grabbed the base of Big Mimi’s thick wings. Using his core strength, he launched himself into the air and, with a nimble flip, landed squarely on Big Mimi’s broad back.

He gave Big Mimi’s neck a firm pat and shouted.

”Fly!”

”ROOAAR—!”

Big Mimi had been waiting for this moment!

It had been constantly picked on by its shameless master ever since being tamed. Now, finally getting a chance to wreak some havoc, it was beyond excited.

It bounded forward on all fours, scrambling up the outer wall of the Lord’s Mansion. In just a few leaps, it reached the top of a low turret on the office roof. Then, its powerful limbs tensed, and its enormous wings unfurled with a great WHOOSH.

It leaped, flapped, and was lifted by an icy wind!

Surrounded by an updraft and swirling frost, the giant beast—nearly three meters tall at the shoulder—defied gravity in an unbelievable display. Like a great white eagle breaking free from its chains, it soared toward the heavens, carrying Jon and the frozen Harir with it.

”Stop! You bastard! Put Harir down!”

Just then, the burly, bearded warrior finally stumbled out from the dust and smoke of the collapsed ruins. He was covered in soot and grime, his faint red Battle Qi fluctuating violently with rage.

He stared at the great white shadow swiftly ascending and beginning to glide into the distance. With a furious roar, he swung his broadsword, sending several slashes of crimson Sword Qi tearing through the air toward the sky.

But a lack of ranged attacks was a common limitation for low-level Warriors. His volley of Sword Qi couldn’t even reach the tip of Big Mimi’s tail before dissipating uselessly in the sky.

All he could do was watch helplessly as the massive manticore carried the ruffian away, with Harir dangling from its tail, flying farther and farther into the biting wind.

”Go get reinforcements! We have to catch that fiend!”

”Get moving! I’m going to tear him limb from limb!”

The warrior’s roar echoed across the open square, filled with helpless rage and humiliation.

The guards who hurried to the scene stared at the ruins of the Lord’s Mansion’s administrative office and their colleagues strewn across the ground, their faces a mask of horror and bewilderment.

As for the crowd that had gathered to watch, they had gotten more than their money’s worth.

”Gods! He... he actually rode that monster and flew away!”

”He just blew up a wall of the Lord’s Mansion! Is... is he trying to start a rebellion?!”

It had been well worth braving the snowstorm to see the spectacle. The moment this young man made his move, it was explosive news!

Demolishing part of the Lord’s Mansion and kidnapping one of the Lord’s subordinates in front of everyone!

And considering he was from the Golden Maple Leaf Trading House, the incident was bound to spark wild speculation.

Could it be that the mastermind behind the attack on Miss Rhea was none other than Viscount Paris himself?

’That has to be it! Otherwise, how could an ”assailant” just appear inside the town?’

’Are the town guards, which the Viscount has spent a fortune training, all blind and deaf?’

’And this young man just arrived in Birch Town last night. He came first thing in the morning to demand answers, but he didn’t get them. So, in a fit of youthful indignation, he just went and smashed up the Lord’s Mansion!’

’It all makes perfect sense now!’

’All these recent events are just a power struggle between the nobles!’

This kind of conspiracy theory was perfectly suited to the public’s appetite, and all sorts of speculation and rumors began to spread like wildfire.

Meanwhile, the members of the Blood Eye Association were left dumbfounded.

’We hadn’t even set the stage for the show we prepared for Jon, and he just up and flew away?’

’Bro, aren’t you supposed to be a Saint Knight? How are you even more audacious than us!’

As ”revolutionaries” who had painstakingly worked for years to restore their nation, even now on the cusp of a full-scale uprising, they had never done something as drastic as directly attacking a Lord’s Mansion!

’Who’s the real fiend here?!’

”Boss, what do we do now?”

”What else can we do? Follow them! Let’s see what he’s planning!”

It wasn’t just them. The rest of the crowd also broke into a run, chasing in the direction Jon had flown. After all, who wouldn’t be curious to see how this would end?

Meanwhile, outside Birch Town, a troop of riders on pure white steeds, clad in white and platinum cloaks, advanced through the snowstorm.

Hearing the commotion from within the town, the three at the head of the group pulled on their reins in unison, bringing the column to a halt.

The foremost cloaked figure observed for a moment before giving an order.

”Go and take a look, but be discreet. This is not the Religious Country, and this nation’s rulers are sensitive about Saint Professionals interfering in their internal affairs.”

”Yes, Priest Wade!”

Two crisp, nearly identical voices replied in unison. The next moment, the two speakers stood up on their saddles. A pair of luminous wings unfurled from beneath their cloaks, lifting them into the sky.

The leader watched them depart and let out a soft sigh.

’A Divine Favored... Could one really appear in such a benighted land?’

’My friend, Ingram... I hope you were right...’
