Ascension from Dual Professions

Chapter 142: Chapter 141: Soaring Through the Storm, Divine Soldiers Descend from Heaven

Typically, to deal with an anomalous blizzard created by a ritual, one would use treasures with countering properties, or employ several sorcerers or Mages skilled in magical countermeasures to forcibly tear an opening into the storm.

But players were never ones to follow the rules. Their specialty was exploiting loopholes by any means necessary.

In a player’s mind, it was: ’You’re telling me I have to grind a Dungeon, but first I have to do prerequisite quests just to get an item to break through the blizzard? Or spend money to hire an NPC sorcerer?’

’Wouldn’t that make me a total sucker? The money I’d make from the Dungeon run probably wouldn’t even cover the hiring fee!’

’There has to be a way to get around this environmental restriction!’

And so, after countless death-defying attempts by players, a thrilling and exciting new activity was born.

The High-Altitude Eye-of-the-Storm Drop!

Fly straight to the very top of the blizzard, and from the most dangerous—yet also safest—position, leap down and force your way inside!

And since Jon had run the Frozen Ruins Dungeon before, he had naturally experienced this maneuver himself.

A smile touched his lips as he looked at the Church twins awaiting his command, and he asked them a question that struck them as rather odd.

”Xia, Xina, what’s the highest you can fly?”

Xia immediately raised her hand and answered, as if showing off.

”Reporting, Mr. Jon! I can fly up to 800 meters!”

”Very good. And you, Xina?”

”I... I’m not as resistant to the cold as my sister. I can probably only manage less than 700 meters.”

The younger twin looked at Jon in confusion and asked softly.

”Mr. Jon, do you have a plan?”

Jon’s smile widened, which made the highly intuitive Xia feel a shiver run down her spine.

”Of course. I have a simple and direct way for us to get inside the town.”

”Since you’re not afraid of heights, this will be easy.”

...

”AHHHH!!!!”

Xia let out a scream that was a mixture of terror and excitement. Her body was nearly flung off, only to be yanked back by the safety harness of the saddle on Big Mimi’s back.

Xina bit her lower lip, her face pale as she struggled to keep her balance. But her rapid breathing and faintly trembling fingers betrayed her inner turmoil.

Right now, they were seated on Big Mimi’s back, ascending at incredible speed!

The surrounding temperature was plummeting just as quickly.

If not for all his points being allocated to Constitution and the Attribute bonuses from his Crystal Scorpion Armor, which gave him a Constitution comparable to an Official Level Professional—and if he hadn’t also taken a Frost Resistance Potion—he would probably have started losing health by now.

As for the sisters, Xia and Xina, they were Official Level Sun Monks. Both their Constitution and Resistance were actually higher than Jon’s. For them, the only thing to overcome was the sheer adrenaline rush.

Under Jon’s control, Big Mimi shot straight for the heavens, streaking along the edge of the Blizzard. Wraiths, drawn by their presence, materialized from the storm, only to be swiftly left behind.

Its natural flying instincts allowed Big Mimi to be in its element, weaving, flipping, diving, and pulling up through the obstructive web of snow and wraiths, letting out a series of joyous roars.

And each of its death-defying dodges elicited an even louder, roller-coaster-like scream from Xia.

”AHHHH—!!”

”Sister! Stop screaming! Mr. Jon knows what he’s doing!”

Xina finally couldn’t help but shout, her voice trembling.

”I know! But it’s just so thrilling! Ahhh! Here we go again!”

Xia screamed her reply, her face flushed with a strange mixture of terror and exhilaration.

Jon had no time to worry about the twins’ reactions behind him. His entire focus was on controlling Big Mimi and observing the storm’s structure.

The number of wraiths appearing in the storm grew, clinging to them like a persistent plague.

But they chased and clawed at them in vain, only to be left further and further behind, eventually swallowed once more by the churning Blizzard.

Soon, thanks to Big Mimi’s powerful physique and Jon’s piloting skills, the trio finally broke through the wraith-infested middle layer of the Blizzard and reached a relatively ”calm” altitude.

This was the very top of the storm’s eye.

Although the wind here was still strong, the cold was bone-chilling, and the air was thin, it was an eerily stable state compared to the destructive chaos below.

Above them was a layer of lead-gray clouds.

Below was the core of the blizzard’s vortex, slowly rotating like a giant millstone, devouring everything.

Waves of snow churned, and the Ice Crystals were as sharp as knives.

It was like standing on the threshold of Hell’s gate. From here, they could clearly feel the vast, primal, and crazed fury of nature below, the immense roar of the wind making their ears ring.

Xia and Xina were utterly stunned by the sight before them.

Xia forgot to scream. Her mouth hung slightly open, her golden eyes wide and round, reflecting the apocalyptic scene below. They were filled with pure, almost stupefied amazement.

”Heav... Heavens...”

she murmured, her voice snatched away by the wind.

”This... This is... the center... of the storm?”

Xina gripped her sister’s arm tightly, her body still a little stiff, but her gaze was also captivated by the scene below.

She tried her best to remain composed, but her heavy breathing, the unconcealable terror deep in her eyes, and her awe at the magnificent yet horrifying vista all betrayed her own turbulent emotions.

She nodded forcefully, as if wanting to say something, but in the end, just pressed her lips together more tightly, her fingertips turning white from the force.

As for Jon, he felt the terrifying pressure emanating from the storm’s core—a pressure that felt like it could crush his very soul—but the smile on his lips didn’t waver in the slightest.

He turned his head, his gaze sweeping over the speechless twins. His voice, strangely clear amidst the gale, carried a peculiar, bewitching quality.

”See this? This is a sight that Ordinary people will never see in their entire lives!”

He paused, his gaze fixed on the center of the massive, seething vortex below, a vortex that seemed to swallow all light. A fiery passion burned in his eyes.

”Take a deep breath, ladies! And hold on tight!”

”Because what comes next—”

Jon suddenly straightened his back, slapped Big Mimi’s neck hard, and yanked the reins sharply downward!

”—is the most thrilling part!!!”

”ROOOAR—!!!”

Big Mimi responded with an earth-shattering roar. Its massive body suddenly dropped, its huge wings instantly folding tight against its sides to shield the three riders. The giant beast transformed into a colossal Ice Cone, poised to tear through the sky!

At the same time, a dazzling ice-blue light erupted from its body. Countless sharp, hard crystals condensed from thin air, as if cladding it in an invincible diamond Battle Armor!

This was the ultimate move it had once used against Jon—Frost Meteor Impact!

The manticore, carrying an apocalyptic aura and wrapped in a frigid power capable of freezing all creation, transformed into an ice-blue comet tearing through the chaos. Without a second thought, it aimed for the madly spinning, all-consuming core of the Blizzard’s vortex below—

And plunged downward in a Frenzy!
