Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1096: Chapter 607: Rendezvous_2

Also, Sela wants to maintain her relationship with Hamlet, and throwing out this not-so-important information is quite worthwhile.

”Thank you for your reminder, I will convey it to My Lord.” Little John didn’t express any opinions, just agreed.

The news of the restoration of the Hamlet channel quickly spread, and most of those choosing to go to Hamlet are professional mercenaries or adventurers.

Basically, ordinary people are not choosing to go to Hamlet.

Those mercenaries have some money to take risks, and they themselves form teams, daring to set out at this time are all very confident in their abilities.

Not to mention they have some inexplicable relationships behind them, going to Hamlet can be said to be their master’s task.

To this, the fleet is welcoming all comers, as long as they pay up.

However, among these people came a very special person, a professor from the medical college arrived late at night...

......

Hamlet, the wolf den.

Lance is feeding those mother wolves, what they eat are all dog food made of fish meat, entrails, fish oil mixed with bone meal.

From their sleek fur and slightly plumper figures, one can see the effect, of course, this also has the reason of pregnancy; it looks like they might give birth soon.

From the lazy look they have lying on the ground after eating and drinking their fill, it’s clear that their resistance towards humans is decreasing with constant contact.

”What do you think is the reason for the retreat of the Mountain Barbarian Tribe?”

Lance casually asked as he sat beside them.

His hand was petting the obedient mother wolf lying by his side, and even when he touched its belly, it didn’t resist.

In the entire Hamlet, he is the only one who can interact with these mother wolves like this, under the effect of the [Enchanting Voice], these mother wolves are easily tamed.

It’s necessary to know that Lance has beaten them several times before, which only brought fear and submission, now such closeness and trust feel like familiarity from long companionship.

In a certain sense, it shows that language is even more enchanting than brute force.

One makes the body obey, the other makes the soul obey.

But Lance’s words are not directed at these wolves; they’re aimed at a man standing in the shadows—Flame Warlock Francis.

As a hidden spy, of course, too much direct contact was not advisable, so Lance chose this remote and deserted place.

Francis naturally had no objections, but seeing Lance sitting among the wolves was somewhat pressuring.

He indeed understood more about the situation, after all, compared to the captured Lawrence, Earl’s trust in him remained high.

”The Mountains are definitely in trouble because they did not retreat normally, but rather, fled in defeat, very suddenly.”

The battle between the Barbarians and Earl’s army is becoming more intense because, for some unknown reason, the Barbarians do not take the deliberately opened path to Hamlet but insist on a hard fight against Bastia.

While talking about this, Francis didn’t forget to analyze with Lance the situation of both armies, explaining why Earl’s army is in an unfavorable position.

”However, according to the frontline news, the Barbarian Alliance Army, which held the advantage, suddenly went into chaos for unknown reasons, eventually dispersing into the mountains.”

At first, Bruce thought the Barbarians were feigning defeat to lure them into pursuit, but later realized that there was indeed a problem.

Lance also found it a bit strange.

He is not a god and does not know much about situations outside Hamlet, so he wants Vick to develop intelligence.

Bastia does have some channels to gather information, but the mountains...

Anyway, if there’s a problem in the mountains, it’s Earl’s headache; this scoundrel has occupied this route and benefited from it for so many years, it’s about time he made some effort.

”What do you think Earl’s reaction will be to the ruins?”

Lance wasn’t too concerned with the mountains but was curious if the Earl, unrestrained by the Barbarians, would have the guts to stick his neck out.

”I don’t think he will act, at least not first, because Bastia’s equipment shortage is very serious, and not to mention the war with the Barbarians has also consumed a lot, it will take at least two or three years to replenish; otherwise, the Earl wouldn’t be willing to accept the price to redeem the equipment.

Moreover, this issue has also led to internal conflict, not all the nobility are willing to wage war against the Barbarians; long-term peace has made them lose their courage, but they control the grassroots power.

If the Barbarian continued attacks give pressure, it might force them to unite, but the lack of pressure from the Mountain Barbarian Tribe will instead exacerbate these contradictions, so the Earl would seal this news.

But according to my understanding of the Earl, he might use this news...”

Francis paused slightly here, seemingly a bit unsure.

”Just say it, it doesn’t matter if it’s wrong.” Lance was quite casual.

”The Earl is very likely to deliberately reveal this message and then wait for those people to expose themselves once the news spreads.

When those people react, Earl would naturally have the internal excuse to act, for he surely wants to cleanse those disobedient ones before handing over the domain to the heir.”

What was Francis hesitating about earlier?

It’s about identity.

Earl and the man in front of him are both Noble Lords, and they belong to the same class.

So, facing those who don’t obey and even vaguely resist, their perspectives on handling things are naturally the same.

If that were the case, his words might cause dissatisfaction.

Francis could rise to become a close minister by Earl’s side; relying solely on his status as an Extraordinary Spellcaster wouldn’t suffice, capability, and intelligence are both essential.

Seemingly knowing what he meant, Lance immediately threw out a smiling comment.

”So you see, Hamlet has no nobility; it is managed by a new system.”

Comparing someone like Earl to himself is somewhat insulting.

What could Francis say? Even if he had something to say, he wouldn’t dare speak.

Uncertain of what the Lord is thinking, compared to the Earl, this man is even more unpredictable.

But Lance didn’t mind at all and continued on the previous topic.

”If Earl were to act, when do you think it might be?”

”First, it must be confirmed that the Mountain Barbarian Tribe does not have the possibility of attacking; roughly around winter when heavy snow seals the mountains, limiting the possibility of large-scale Barbarian actions, and also restricting the possibility of the noble’s large-scale unification to resist.

Additionally, a precise strike would likely be employed, utilizing the Eagle Flock, Transcendents, and Knights to launch decapitation operations to minimize impact and preserve domain resources.”

”Where do you think he would start? Like you just said, Baron Lawrence’s Domain has been drafting extensively, and the people below are quite dissatisfied; does this mean Earl will target Lawrence?”

Lance had planted Lawrence with great difficulty and can’t afford problems now.

However, after hearing this, Francis provided an interesting response.

”On the contrary, this shows Earl won’t target Baron Lawrence, because with his daughter missing, a baron without an heir poses no threat to Earl.

Moreover, Lawrence also represents those knights who urgently need appeasement after being captured by you, My Lord. If he acts against Lawrence, it will give a dangerous signal to the nobility dissatisfied with Earl.

The atmosphere now is merely Earl’s deliberate creation, aiming to distract everyone’s attention to Baron Lawrence while overlooking the real danger.”

”I don’t know much about Bastia or the Earl, having you help is very important.”

Lance acknowledged his role; someone familiar with Bastia who can reach the upper echelon and even be by Earl’s side is indeed invaluable.

A traitor is really useful, hence it’s no wonder modern times have so many ”dog keepers.”

And this attitude from the Lord also reduces Francis’s pressure since without any value he wouldn’t have the necessity to exist; as long as he shows his ability, he can naturally be leveraged heavily.
