Our Family Has Fallen

Chapter 1055: Chapter 587: Bay 9

Those ordinary Deep Divers are like clowns caught between the Shaman and the Siren.

When the Siren is attacked, they rush in; when the Shaman is attacked, they rush in as well. The tug-of-war from both sides leaves them exhausted.

But they met Lance, the good-hearted man who quickly helped them solve this problem by eliminating all the Shamans that appeared here, allowing them to focus on rescuing the Siren.

Lance tossed aside the remains that turned to dust, gradually returning from the [Transcendent State].

Listening to the distant mournful tone, he looked over to see a slew of Deep Divers dead under Wang Cai’s sharp teeth and claws, with the Siren still trapped at the original spot.

However, while the song is difficult to affect Lance, it commands the ordinary Deep Divers irresistibly, making the Siren their unlikely rescue target.

Especially when the balance of power from the Shaman is lost, their madness grows even more intense, continuously surging in from outside.

This is why Lance had to control it first. Capturing it meant capturing the Deep Divers in the Bay, allowing him to gather them all for an encircling attack.

After a brief respite, Lance put away the whale horn and swung his arm blade, joining the battle.

No one knows when this battle will end, but it’s clear only one side must die to bring peace...

He who trespasses against Hamlet, I shall strike and shatter!

There’s no concept of time here. Lance doesn’t remember how long he’s been fighting or how many Deep Divers he’s killed. He swings his arm blade numbly, like a silent killing machine, with no trace of his initial frenzy.

From the start, Deep Divers swarmed in force, their strength guaranteed.

However, even though their numbers didn’t decrease much, one could feel the decline in strength among the incoming Deep Divers.

In short, countless years of Deep Divers now lie slain under Lance’s blade, effectively erasing their existence.

But who cares?

Lance is like the boundless Void. No matter how many Deep Divers come, not even their corpses remain in the end.

Gradually, the Deep Divers become fewer until, at some moment, Lance looks around with his blade raised and finds no Deep Divers left standing around him.

Removing the menacing helmet, Lance’s face is exposed to the air once more after so long.

”Phew~ It’s over...”

Lance finally lets out a long breath, his nose no longer detecting the pungent stench.

He looks up through the cracks above and realizes the light has long shifted from moonlight to daylight.

In other words, he fought conservatively all night.

But there’s still one left.

Lance turns his head to look at the Siren, his expression growing peculiar.

Lance doesn’t know much about the Deep Divers’ story, but he knows a bit about the Siren—stories told personally by the Elder.

Because he had played through this boss countless times.

The game’s storyline once briefly introduced the story between the Siren and the Elder.

Back when the Elder was still a Lord, his esteemed status naturally sparked many young girls’ imaginations, and the Siren, before her transformation, was one such precocious, bold girl.

She actively approached the Elder, showing a tidal wave of devoted admiration, even cultivating the habit of following him as his shadow.

At first, the Elder found such a bold, proactive, and beautiful young girl quite interesting, but the Elder had experienced plenty. Once the novelty wore off, the girl’s presence became annoying.

Yet, the girl did not give up despite the Elder’s distance; she continued to follow, as obsessed as a crazed fan.

At that time, the Elder acquired an obscure and despicable statue from Pirates.

His research into the statue led him to contact some ancient entities from the Lightless Abyss, notably the Deep Divers.

The Elder was truly a genius, mastering the ability to communicate with these Deep Divers.

Under the moonlit night, the Deep Divers emerged from the waters, seeking to retrieve the statue, along with an offering during the eclipse, and they were willing to trade with countless treasures.

Coincidentally, the Elder faced financial strain from his excavations and made a trade with the Deep Divers.

Upon forming the contract, the Elder’s ”new friends” silently dove into the black seas, all witnessed by the girl tailing the Elder.

From afar, the border firelight trembling with fear betrayed her presence, though the Elder had already noticed her. He left her alone simply because he had devised a scheme to fulfill the contract while ridding himself of the girl.

Until the arrival of the full moon night, in the blood-red moonlight, the Elder lured the innocent girl to the dock’s edge.

Before she could savor the moment, the Elder clamped shackles tightly on her, locking her against the statue.

With a gentle push, he sent both offerings into the ocean, completing his contract with the Deep Divers.

By low tide, the most splendid and precious jewels scattered along the coast, one could say the Deep Divers were supportive of the Elder’s actions; without their treasure, the Elder would have struggled.

As for the girl?

She no longer belongs to the world accepted by human rationality. Those water-dwelling Demons have reshaped this poor girl into their likeness.
