The First Store System

1584 Shocking the Crowd(1)

Chapter 1584: Shocking the Crowd(1)

Like the trio, numerous people had the same doubts seeing no one on the platform.

A few more minutes passed in the blink of an eye, and the store owner finally appeared on the platform. He wasnʼt alone but had his two pets with him.

Emekaʼs eyes glowed in excitement as he finally saw the store owner after a long time. Everyone in the city admired the store owner sincerely. There were some who were also jealous, but even they respected Aakesh from the depths of their hearts.

Aakesh had the same expression of indifference he carried as he appeared on the platform. He was willingly late since he had a big announcement to make.

The contest wasnʼt just a contest for reward anymore, instead, the store would choose its first assistant to help Aakesh from now on.

The number of daily customers had breached the 100 million mark for the first time, so the store reached the requirement of having an assistant.

It happened a few months ago, but since the annual contest was some months away, Aakesh decided to postpone that till that day.

”There will only be one contest today, and everyone can participate in it without paying any entry fee.”

The crowd couldnʼt help but take a deep breath when they heard the store owner. The part about only one contest wasnʼt the reason, but the free entry.

Just the money made from free entry into a contest was more than what Thorr City made annually, so people could see how much wealth the store owner was giving up on that day. At the same time, they also became curious since it was the first time.

The entry fee fees not only brought revenue to the store but also acted as a barrier to anyone entering the contest and making a fool of themselves.

Aakesh understood what was going on in the minds of the people on the chair, but he didnʼt care and immediately stated his purpose for doing that.

”The store will be selecting its assistant today, so those who want to apply for it can join the contest, and the winner will automatically become the assistant.”

”The second to tenth position will also have their own rewards, but only the winner will become the assistant.”

It was as if Aakesh had thrown a bucket of oil at the already strongly burning building, the crowd began to chatter. Since there were more than a trillion people, even if they whispered, the sound reached an unprecedented intensity.

Aakesh didnʼt stop them but let them absorb the news for a moment. A few seconds later, he gestured, and the entire crowd fell silent and looked at him.

Their eyes contained a myriad of expressions, but excitement was the largest of them.

”Unlike the previous annual contests, the participants wouldnʼt be unaffected by the contest this year. You will not die, but your soul will carry injuries depending on the intensity of the wound you will receive in the competition.”

”Now those who want to participate, raise your hands after one minute.”

”Your time starts now.”

Aakesh announced and then sat on his chair, waiting for the minute to pass. Almost everyone wanted to participate when they heard that there was no entry fee and the first prize was becoming the storeʼs assistant. Only those who had no confidence at all in their victories were unwilling to participate.

But after Aakesh announced about the injury being carried outside in the form of a soul injury, many couldnʼt help but hesitate. The majority of those who were hesitating were those who were at the Sacred King or higher level of cultivation and those who couldnʼt afford the pills from the store.

The store had highly effective healing pills for the soul, so many people neednʼt worry about the extent of the injury, but the highest level of pills was only available for the Supreme God. Resources required to heal soul injuries were very rare and expensive for higher level cultivators.

A minute of time seemed long enough for cultivators, but as they began to think, one minute passed in the blink of an eye.

”Those who want to participate, raise your hands.” Aakesh stood up from his chair and called out.

The next moment, rows after rows of hands were raised. Uzoma couldnʼt help but become angry when she saw her son also raising his hands.

She wanted to push his hands down, but before she could do so, Emeka disappeared from his chair and appeared on the platform with other participants. Her husband had also followed since he had also raised his hands. She couldnʼt help but worry about the two most important people in her life.

Lily and Khaval couldnʼt help but sneer when they saw the number of participants on the platform. If not for Aakesh, the two would have immediately stood up and chided many there for not understanding their limits.

The people were underestimating the soul injury factor. Even an ordinary death would harm the soul one-tenth, so if the death was terrible, the soul injury could even reach two-thirds damage. The store wouldnʼt let the participant die, but at that damage level, even becoming a vegetable would be a good outcome.

The two stopped caring since everyone was responsible for their own fates.

Aakesh didnʼt care about what was going on in Lily and Khavalʼs minds. Since the prize on offer was something that could change the destiny of not only the individual but the race itself, even the risk of death was nothing, let alone becoming a vegetable.

”As I said, the winner of the contest will become the assistant of the store. The second to tenth place will also have their rewards.”

”The second place will win a territory with an area of 10,000 square miles in Panagea with Emperor level resources.”

”The third place will also win a territory, but it will only be 4,000 square miles, and the highest level of resource will be King level.”
