I AM the Football Star

”And this year, with San Remo entering the Champions League, this has become especially obvious. We have data showing that the Champions League’s influence in Asia has increased by eight hundred percent this year!”

”And coincidentally, last year when San Remo broke into the UEFA Europa League, the Europa League’s influence across Asia went up by six hundred percent!”

”There’s no doubt that San Remo—or rather, I’d prefer to say Lu Yang—is the key to expanding the current influence of the Champions League and even UEFA as a whole.”

On this point, a lot of people had no choice but to admit it.

Football has long taken deep root in Europe; the only room left for growth is in a few remaining football deserts.

And Asia is the biggest of those markets, because China’s economy has risen too fast, too fiercely.

Besides, San Remo’s matches are also very different from those of other dark horses.

It’s not turtle tactics.

It’s all-out attack.

It’s not sneaking cheap wins.

It’s a full-on comeback!

And with Lu Yang’s ”high-profile and domineering” personality, every pre- and post-match segment becomes especially entertaining.

Most importantly, Lu Yang’s goals are all just too spectacular.

It’s a pity the Puskás Award only picks one goal each year; Lu Yang has made people realize that reform of this award is urgently needed.

What’s this ”one best goal a year”? That’s nowhere near enough.

The Puskás Award should select ten goals every year.

And Lu Yang could take up a big chunk of those, maybe even all of them!

There are just too many magical elements; once you turn your eyes to San Remo and Lu Yang, you simply can’t look away.

This high-ranking official brought up so many points, it was obvious he was speaking up on behalf of San Remo.

How the Main Referee for the final should be assigned, what the refereeing standard should be—these were among the issues on the agenda for this regular meeting.

In addition, since Italian Football has been so impressive and contributed so much to the collective, then in the future, could this mean that Martivini... might have more credentials?

You could say that even though Martivini himself wasn’t present, his influence was already beginning to spread within UEFA.

Of course, some people hinted obliquely that Italy’s official policies this year were very likely to undergo a huge shift.

When that happens, who knows what kind of situation Serie A will be in.

Even though Serie A hasn’t completely fallen yet, this year is nothing more than a final flare-up before the end.

Better to take this opportunity to prop up some other leagues; rather than letting Serie A win the Champions League, give it to another league with more influence.

Martivini’s spokesperson immediately laughed: ”So you’re saying the Bundesliga is more influential than Serie A?”

That person muttered, ”I was talking about the Premier League or La Liga.”

The people on this side laughed and said, ”Then you’d better get them into the final first! The league that will replace Serie A as the world’s number one league in the future could be La Liga, or it could be the Premier League, but it absolutely won’t be the Bundesliga.”

”I don’t want anyone, for any other reason, ruining this brilliant year. This could be a perfect Champions League season!”

The other side continued, ”Precisely because a perfect Champions League is so rare, if you bring it up and a team actually achieves it, doesn’t that take away a suspense?”

Martivini’s spokesperson was so angry his face turned red: ”You bloody son of a bitch, all you know is to dangle suspense. Pah... A perfect Champions League is not the same as other Champions League titles. The Champions League happens every year, but a perfect Champions League is not something people can manipulate.”

”Even if San Remo is fortunate enough to pull off this feat this year, that doesn’t mean any other team can do it in the future.”

”Ladies and gentlemen, I have to remind everyone: we might be witnessing history! In the next ten, twenty, fifty years, we may never see another perfect Champions League!”

”I can’t interfere with the fairness of the match, but we must at least give San Remo the fair treatment they deserve!”

”UEFA should strictly control all the preparation phases before this match. Make sure Bayern and San Remo both come into the game at one hundred percent, and present fans all over the world with a classic showdown!”

”I’m certain that as long as the football is good to watch, no matter who wins or loses, the overall value of the Champions League will continue to grow rapidly!”

This meeting was especially heated, and in the end everyone was genuinely looking forward to whether a perfect Champions League would be born.

But UEFA’s biggest worry right now is... that the perfect Champions League dream might be shattered before the Champions League final even kicks off!

For example... the upcoming thirty-eighth round of the Serie A season.

Florence vs Rome.

Juventus vs San Remo!
