Beneath the Red Dragon

In this fleeting moment, countless chaotic thoughts flashed through Karon’s mind. Whether his destiny was swayed by others, or others harbored ulterior motives, the other’s abilities were far beyond what Karon could currently resist.

To manipulate the hands of destiny, no matter in which world, which story, is a mysterious and powerful force, even among the gods, not every divine spirit can spy upon this power.

The calmness that always resided in Karon’s mind was instantly flooded with various negative thoughts, and a sense of frustration arising from being controlled by others, unable to determine whether his actions stemmed from his true will, rose from the depths of his heart.

Every detail since his birth into this world, every decision he made was like rolling information flowing in his sub-brain and consciousness.

He began to doubt and deny himself, and his future seemed filled with pessimism. Perhaps he was merely a puppet controlled by others, the string attached to him controlling his will and actions.

The absolute desire for control over his will made Karon more prone to being caught in setbacks like these, his will gradually weakening, and his spirit beginning to waver.

He even, at some moment, questioned whether his existence was also orchestrated by others. The wavering of his will made the heart energy shining within his body lose its brilliance, no longer possessing magical power.

The light of the soul adhering to his spirit and will was also fading, the powerful strength of his fleshly body showed signs of regression, as the magical strengthening from the heart energy lost its wondrous augmentation.

Since his birth, Karon refused to let the Evil Dragon Blood affect his will, stemming from the desires and fundamental pride within Karon’s soul.

Even the blood inheritance of the Giant Dragon could not influence his will. Yet due to his pride, the strong will created by his arrogance at this moment stepped into the weakness of his will.

In the distance, the blood-colored sanctuary suspended high in the air suddenly plummeted down, the high songs of the souls of those slain in the sanctuary coming to an abrupt halt.

The sacred glow on the Heroic Spirits began to fade, they are about to revert to the moment of death, those souls filled with pain and distortion and despair.

In the depths of the Endless World, the final place of soul’s return, the Nether River traversing countless worlds began to issue its call to these souls.

It’s summoning these souls onto the path of demise stipulated by the world, one of the most fundamental laws from the bottom of all worlds, these souls gradually found it difficult to resist the call of origin.

And those souls interred within the sanctuary began twisting on the murals and the Heaven-Supporting Pillar of the dome, their black ghostly claws supported by the world’s laws wanting to break free from their confines, return to the embrace of the Nether River.

The blood-colored sanctuary, at this moment became a ghostly realm of black fog, with countless souls wailing and struggling.

”Karon!” Black Dragon Rosani’s eyes were about to burst as he watched the falling sanctuary, and he roared upward, not hesitating for a moment, directly charged towards the Plane Teleportation Gate, the angry roar of the Black Dragon echoed from above the endless forest.

”Wait, wait, Karon, hold on a moment longer, I will summon the Dragon Group for you. If you encounter an accident here, this plane will be your burial ground, all life will be buried with you!”

Below, the branches of two towering Trees of Life swayed crazily, as if trembling!

”Boss, what should we do?” A tall Barbarian walked up to Barbarian Chief Jib’s side, scratched his head, and still opened his mouth to ask.

”What to do, what to do,” Barbarian Jib exhaled a breath, kicked over the questioning Barbarian with a foot, and with a cold laugh said: ”Didn’t you see those Jackal-Wolf Men cleaning their weapons, whatever they do, we do too! Destroying the life of a world, hey, what a good idea!”

”What’s the point?”

”Even one’s own thoughts are generated by others, one’s own goals are established by others’ influence, then one’s actions, even existence, what’s the necessity?”

Karon fell into self-doubt, the mind filled with chaotic negative thoughts, unceasing.

”What is my true purpose then?”

Karon also found himself on the brink of nihilism throughout his dragon’s life, sliding towards the abyss of nihilism.

The light on his scale armor turned dim, the firmness in his eyes became scattered, his will was troubled, and his spirit was no longer rational.

The Evil Dragon Blood began to awaken within him, the burgeoning will of the Evil Dragon roaring, wanting Karon to become a pure Red Dragon, a Red Dragon slightly smarter than a beast, a not-so-special kind of Red Dragon.

But deep within Karon’s soul, a faint voice quietly raised its own question.

”Aren’t you even afraid of failure, how could you be afraid of such a boring thing?”

”Freedom of will that comes from strength, can it be called true powerful freedom of will, when you are weak, will you abandon the pursuit of self-will due to lack of power?”

”Wake up, Karon, true freedom of will is not determined by the strength of power, it always depends on you alone!”

The faint voice echoed in the depths of Karon’s heart, initially as small as a mosquito’s buzz, but it kept going, like the whipping chains of self-examination, beating in the confused and closed heart of Karon, gradually awakening the will enclosed in his decadent heart.
