I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Because his bloodline talent is evidently capable of continuous enhancement, in fact, his next plan is to upgrade to the extraordinary level purple quality talent, which is [Resilient Scales Bloodline].

This was originally part of his planned strategy.

As for abandoning this powerful ability due to fear of drawing more attention from the Dragon Worship Sect, Gauss naturally wouldn’t give up like this because of a minor concern.

He was in control of the powerful magical power contained within the Adventurer’s Handbook, so he wasn’t afraid to clash with this elusive and secretive organization.

Pleos heard Gauss’s words, paused for a moment, and his expression became somewhat complicated.

Finally, after sighing, he nodded.

Since Gauss had already been found out in advance, apart from leaving the city, the second best option was to accept the commission.

But unlike the mood when he requested Gauss yesterday, this time he felt a heavy sense of responsibility.

After all, yesterday he secretly asked Gauss for help. At that time, he thought Gauss, the outsider, clearly wouldn’t attract the attention of the entrenched Dragon Worship Sect forces in the city, and with him overseeing it, the secret investigation shouldn’t be too dangerous.

But now, the situation had evidently changed again.

If anything unexpected happened to Gauss because of this, then it would be his responsibility. Who let him, out of personal selfishness, contact this extraordinary talent yesterday?

”In that case, I will do my best to protect you, at least within the confines of Flute Castle.”

Pleos took a deep breath, looked solemnly into Gauss’s eyes, and promised sincerely.

His strength was no boast; in the vast area under Flute Castle’s jurisdiction, there were no more than a handful of people stronger than him.

If it weren’t for various reasons restricting him, making it inconvenient for him to directly intervene in this matter closely related to the Tiefling, why would he need to rely on others?

Seeing Pleos’s earnest attitude, Gauss raised an eyebrow.

Unexpectedly, there was an unexpected benefit.

In the territory of Flute Castle, at least he had an extremely strong ”security guarantee.”

Gauss could sense the volcano-like power hidden beneath the other’s body.

Pleos being stronger than him was certain, and not by just a small degree.

”Take this.”

Pleos handed a gold bracelet to Gauss.

”What’s this?”

”A locator. Put it on, and I’ll be able to know your location in the city. If you encounter danger, infuse some magic power into it, and I’ll come as quickly as possible.”

Gauss took it, quietly used the Identification Technique to check it, and then put it on his wrist.

”I still have something to do, so I’ll be leaving now.”

”I’ll send someone to contact you later with information and commission matters.”

Pleos hurriedly left the room.

After he left, Gauss sat quietly for a while longer, then left the garrison as well.

Outside the garrison.

Albena, Ying, and Serdur were already gathered.

Evidently, they had received a message from the crow that always followed Gauss, so they rushed over here.

In fact, not only Gauss, if any of them encountered an emergency, Gauss would also receive a message from the crow and rush to help them.

In this regard, these unremarkable crows could play a much bigger role in the city than imagined.

”Captain, are you okay?”

”Lord Gauss, if you came out any later, I was ready to break in.” Albena’s huge axe was already at the ready by her side, not looking at all like she was joking.

Ying didn’t speak, but her eyes, which seemed to speak, remained fixed on Gauss after he came out, clearly curious about why he had been summoned here.

”Let’s talk as we walk.”

Gauss didn’t want to linger in this vicinity.

After they walked a bit further, he told them what had just happened.

”The Dragon Worship Sect, those lunatics?”

”This is a bit troublesome.”

”Since they have their eyes on me, it probably has something to do with my... relationship to them.”

Gauss didn’t finish, but everyone present understood the implication behind his words.

Dragon...

A powerful symbol, but also one closely tied to their captain, Gauss.

”Daring to target Lord Gauss, I’ll chop off their heads.”

The Dragon Worship Sect has always been an illegal cult loathed by everyone, and now that they were targeting Gauss, it was clear they had some nefarious motive, which made them despise the organization even more.

Over a long time, each one of them became very defensive and protective of Gauss as their captain.

You could even say that without Gauss, this adventuring team wouldn’t be able to hold itself together.

At that moment, the Dragon Worship Sect had already become their mortal enemy in everyone’s eyes.

So regarding Gauss’s decision to take on the commission, they were in full support, as whatever the enemy wanted to achieve naturally needed to be hindered by them.

”However...”

In the midst of all the indignation, Ying suddenly remembered something else.

”What about Aaliyah?”

Not to mention that Aaliyah was Gauss’s teammate, who was traveling alone outside the city; she was also accompanied by the Red Dragon Dragon Beast, Hephaestus.

What Gauss originally intended to serve as her ”bodyguard” now became a valuable asset for thieves.

The Dragon Worship Church was known for selling the method of transforming elderly or unique dragons into dragon liches, but they were equally eager to transform Dragon Beasts, Sub-dragons, and Two-legged Flying Dragons to provide reinforcement for their organization.

”This is bad.”

Gauss clicked his tongue softly.

”We have to set out to find Aaliyah.”

Aaliyah breaking through was indeed urgent, but the adventurers still prioritized safety overall.

”Let’s go!”

”I know exactly where she is.”

Everyone present realized this and didn’t dare to delay, promptly mounting their steeds and heading toward the city gate through which Aaliyah had left.

Not far behind Gauss, a Tiefling who had received orders stared blankly at the group’s hasty departure.

”Eh?”

”Where’s he hurrying off to?”

”I haven’t even handed over the intelligence yet!”

Thinking it over, he felt that the look on Gauss’s face did seem a little off earlier.

”Whatever, I’ll report to Lord Pleos first.”

Throughout the city, shadowy forces that were originally hidden began to stir with the movement of Gauss’s group.

”Hurry!”

The chocobos raced rapidly down the road.

As an experienced rider, Gauss spurred his mount to its maximum speed.

Although his Flying Skill excelled in short bursts, for long-distance pursuits, he still had to rely on riding.

”Caw Caw!!”

Not long after leaving the city, a small black dot in the distant sky rapidly grew larger.

Gauss looked up.

”It’s Aik.”

Gauss’s heart gradually sank.

The event he was worried about had happened.

Aik, who had always followed Aaliyah, wouldn’t leave her side during this critical moment unless something unexpected happened, necessitating it to seek help.

”Enemies! Enemies! Many monsters!”

”The dragon can’t fly.”

Aik landed and issued a shrill, urgent warning.

”Pick up the pace!”

Gauss’s breathing became heavy, channeling magic power into the gold ring on his wrist.

The entire team moved swiftly across the wilderness like the head of an arrow.

Thinking back, he realized that little bird he discovered this morning was likely a ploy by the opposition to delay his time.

”Dragon Worship Sect...”

But no matter what, he had already etched this organization deeply in his heart.

A nameless fire surged through his chest, his pupils gradually turned golden, and his breathing subtly became scorching, like the fury of a Giant Dragon.
