I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 248: Chapter 197: Interrogation

Disable [Ghost Form].

Gauss immediately felt his thighs go a bit weak, as his body strength suddenly receded.

An obvious sense of powerlessness roamed through his body.

”Huff—”

He exhaled slowly.

Quickly, he took out jerky and lantern fruit from his storage pouch and stuffed them into his mouth.

His brain was a bit dizzy, caused by a lack of energy.

Fortunately, he had finished the battle fairly quickly, so the dizziness wasn’t too severe.

”Captain, are you okay?”

The first to arrive was Serdur, who glanced at the unconscious stranger on the ground, then looked at Gauss and asked.

Gauss’s face was slightly pale now, obviously showing some exhaustion.

”I’m fine.”

”You should sit down and rest for a while, let me check you out.”

Even though Gauss said this, as the healer of the team, he still needed to perform a preliminary check and healing on Gauss.

Under the healing light of Serdur, Gauss felt a bit better, and his body gradually returned to normal.

Aaliyah jumped down from Ulfen’s back.

She first tied up the unconscious ”enemy” with a rope, then came over to Gauss.

After seeing his cheeks gradually regain some color, she finally asked.

”Who are these people?”

”They are ’Hyenas’ from the dungeon. We don’t know when they started following us.” Gauss looked down at the enemy tied securely on the ground.

His punch in ghost form earlier, even when holding back, was still quite heavy, leaving a dent at the back of the head.

His face, chin, and elbows all lost a layer of skin after scraping for several meters, with fresh blood slowly oozing from the exposed flesh, making him look exceptionally terrifying.

”Serdur, treat him, don’t let him die.” Gauss gestured towards the enemy with his mouth.

The reason for having Serdur help with the treatment wasn’t out of humanitarianism, but for fear that the opponent might die on the spot, as Gauss wanted to know exactly what was going on.

From the moment he discovered they were targeting his group, Gauss had sentenced them to death in his heart.

This could be considered ”ridding the people of harm,” as letting them go, even if they don’t attack him and his team, could bring harm to other innocent adventurers.

Gauss rested for a while longer before standing up from the ground.

Actually, normally, there was no need to activate ghost form; he just didn’t want any complications or to let any of them escape, so he didn’t hold back.

From the outcome, the decision wasn’t a big problem.

Beside him, Serdur had already begun treating the wanderer.

He sighed as he worked, noting that Gauss had not held back, and had he delayed a little longer, the man might really have died.

With his effort, he barely managed to keep him alive, but a full recovery would require a lengthy treatment process.

”Can you make him regain consciousness temporarily?”

”Yes.” Serdur understood Gauss’s purpose and nodded decisively after a moment’s consideration.

He slashed a knife across the wanderer’s forehead, then sprinkled some light red powder on the wound.

Moments later.

The last surviving wanderer blearily opened his eyes.

With his head pounding, he touched the wet, sticky liquid.

Bring his palms to his face.

The sight of blood made his throbbing head sting like a needle again.

Where am I...

”Thanks, Serdur.” Suddenly, he heard a man’s voice beside him.

Turning, he saw the figure in the black robe.

Memories suddenly surged in his mind.

Right, we were just doing our job, then got caught, and then...

His heart suddenly raced.

He remembered everything.

It was this man in front of him who transformed into a ghostly form and slaughtered his entire team.

Am I actually still alive?

Suddenly, he shivered all over.

Because the man in the black robe suddenly squatted down, meeting his gaze.

”Could you tell us when you started following us...”

...

Ten minutes later, Gauss finished the ”interrogation.”

The overall process went fairly smoothly.

Because Aaliyah found items like a truth serum in their belongings.

In such a poor mental state, it was hard for them to hide anything.

Moreover, Gauss didn’t just interrogate one of them.

Elsewhere, the wanderer whose arm was initially severed was also being interrogated.

Cross-referencing the intel allowed them to roughly judge its accuracy.

It turned out that this group specifically ambushed near the second-floor entrance, even deliberately spreading entrance intel on the first floor.

Once adventurers entered the second floor, they used their wanderer profession skills to track from afar.

They wouldn’t act immediately, usually waiting two more days, either attempting to use sleeping gas at night or waiting for teams to face a crisis.

After other adventurer teams engaged in battles with demons, they would take action, reaping the rewards.

According to them, there were several such hyenas in the dungeon, all tacitly aware of each other, not interfering.

”These people are truly terrible,” Aaliyah sighed. ”Exploring the dungeon is exceedingly difficult, with threats from traps, the environment, and demons. Now we also need to guard against potential hidden enemies.”

After gathering the intel, Serdur sent the two wanderers on their way.
