I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 211: Chapter 184: The Third Team Member (Part 2)

So priests, especially high-ranking priests, are often highly sought after talents.

And for tribal priests of professions like the Half-Snake Man, although their job prospects are narrower than priests, they can still easily find a team.

A level 3 professional priest might even have a chance to join a team of mostly level 4 or 5 professionals.

But for the two of them, even though she looks like she’s about to advance to level 2, and Gauss’s combat power is not something an ordinary level 2 caster could compare with, they still aren’t part of a well-known team.

They wouldn’t even rank high in Gray Rock Town, let alone make any waves in the talent-filled Barry City.

Not to mention, the other party had helped the two of them before.

This is good news!

Aaliyah turned to look at Gauss.

”I have no objections here, you decide.”

In the end, as usual, she left the final decision to Gauss.

”Then...”

Under Serdur’s gaze, Gauss nodded heavily.

”Welcome to the team, Serdur!”

He extended his hand, signifying the acceptance of a new third member into Gauss’s team.

Serdur breathed a sigh of relief, a smile blossoming on his face.

He shook hands with Gauss.

”Hello, Captain.”

”Just call me Gauss,” Gauss waved his hand.

Although, in name, he was the captain, he wasn’t a domineering person who insisted on having the final say.

For many important decisions, he actually discussed them with other members, that is, Aaliyah, though now there might be one more person to consult.

So he didn’t like putting on airs as the captain.

”It’s just my personal habit, Captain,” Serdur nodded.

Seeing that he didn’t change his way of addressing him, Gauss let it be.

After all, it’s just a title.

Looking at the two team members beside him.

Gauss smiled.

A team of three is beginning to look like a proper adventurer squad.

Most adventurer teams maintain a number of 4-5 people, though small teams of 3 are also common.

More team members aren’t necessarily better; one must consider issues of profit, distribution, and coordination.

”Let’s find a place to eat, also to celebrate the birth of our new Gauss squad.”

”Uh?” Aaliyah instinctively wanted to nod, but just as her head lowered, it seemed she remembered something.

”But Gauss, you can only eat light food, right? It’s still not past the days the healer advised.”

”Hehe... Don’t worry, do I look like someone who craves food? You guys order what you want, I’ll just have something light,” Gauss said with an embarrassed smile.

The two walked in front, and Serdur, watching their relaxed interaction, couldn’t help but smile lightly too.

It feels nice to join such a fixed team.

...

”So, Serdur,” Gauss rode his tall, handsome land bird [Golden Spike], speeding along the main road of the forest city.

And by his side, the half-snake man Serdur kept up at a not slower speed.

”What’s up, Captain?”

Serdur used the communication technique to respond, his hoarse voice appearing in Gauss’s ear.

”Aren’t you considering getting a mount? It would be convenient,” Gauss turned his head and earnestly suggested to the gliding half-snake man beside him.

”No need, Captain. Your land bird can’t match my endurance or speed. Don’t worry, I’m keeping up just fine.”

Serdur’s character was straightforward.

”...”

Gauss was silent for a moment.

Is this the racial advantage of the half-snake man?

But, even if the other party is keeping up easily.

He always worried that someone might think he was abusing his teammates.

Sighing quietly.

Two days had passed since Serdur officially joined the team.

In the past two days, Gauss’s body had completely healed and recovered, enabling him to start adventurer activities.

However, Aaliyah was in seclusion, busy comprehending nature, hoping to break through to level 2 soon, so since yesterday, they had temporarily parted ways.

This kind of seclusion typically lasts about a week.

So, Gauss wasn’t planning to delve into the dungeon this week; instead, he intended to take on simple nearby tasks, like purging a goblin tribe, as a transition.

But before officially starting the tasks, the information he had asked someone to inquire about had results.

”It’s quite far, the west of the city...”

Gauss rode his land bird, taking almost half a day to travel from the southern part of the city to the west.

”Is this the Golden Beak Trading Company?”

Gauss dismounted from his land bird.

Looking at the vertical plaque on the side of a four-story building, he spoke softly.

While observing the surroundings, an indescribable complex expression passed across his face.

His usually calm heart suddenly started racing.

Unknowingly, more than half a year had passed...

People always have deeper impressions of their various first experiences.

The memories of him as a newbie teaming up with three other new adventurers might not fade, even many years later.

He checked his clothes; today he wore relatively casual attire, not expensive but quite suitable.

As for the half-snake man, Serdur, he had nothing else to do, so he tagged along with Gauss to take a look.

Old teammates... what’s there to contact for?

Watching the turbulence on Gauss’s face, Serdur slightly shook his head.

He couldn’t empathize with it because during his time as a bottom adventurer, his first group of adventurer teammates fought over some silver coins looted from a monster cave, ultimately leading to casualties and the dissolution of the team.

Perhaps that experience made his future adventurer career always have a layer of separation with other adventurers.

Stepping into the guild hall.

The Golden Beak Trading Company in the west central area of Barry City was still just the smallest ordinary trading company, and the fact that Gauss could find it far in the south of the city was due to using ”money power” to inquire from an intelligence dealer.

After all, in this era without map navigation software, where you could input an address with one click and accurately locate the destination in the vast city...

Upon entering the hall, the receptionist quickly approached.

”Sir, how can I help you?”

Although Gauss thought he was dressed casually, his outstanding presence and charm couldn’t be ignored.

”I’m looking for Haylir, is she here?” Gauss scanned his surroundings.

Besides a few regular employees, he didn’t see any familiar faces.

Hearing the name of the chairman’s daughter from the extraordinary young man in front of her, the receptionist hesitated slightly.

Having worked in reception, she could vaguely sense a certain kind of ”upper class” aura emanating from him.

”May I ask who you are?”

”I’m Gauss, a former adventurer teammate of Haylir’s. Didn’t she travel to Gray Rock Town for a while previously? That’s where I met her,” Gauss sensed her wariness and supplemented with more information.

The receptionist thought for a moment.

The information he provided was roughly accurate.

Last year, Miss Haylir had indeed traveled with two other companions for a period of time, and the destination was Gray Rock Town.

However, since returning, she never mentioned becoming an adventurer again and had become more stable, focusing on learning the family business.

”Please wait, I’ll check with Miss Haylir.”

After the receptionist left.

Serdur, who had been silent, finally spoke.

”Captain, your former compan’s family background is decent.”

Even though their headquarters was just a four-story building, owning such a place on this bustling commercial street showed they were doing well.

Of course, their strength likely couldn’t compare with true mid or large-sized trading companies.

But the heirs of companies of that level probably wouldn’t become adventurers just to experience life.

As the two talked quietly.

Suddenly, rapid footsteps came from the direction of the stairs.

A girl with chestnut curls was running down quickly.

Upon reaching the first floor, her gaze swept the hall and quickly settled on the unmistakable Gauss.

She rubbed her eyes as if repeatedly confirming.

Only after a long time did she open her mouth wide in disbelief and approach Gauss.

”It’s really you, Gauss!”

Standing before Gauss, her light-colored eyes were still filled with astonishment.

Gauss’s appearance now was almost unrecognizable compared to how she knew him.

The Gauss of the past was small and thin.

Now, the young man before her was tall and slender, exceedingly handsome, exuding a calm and effortless aura just standing there.

As if he wasn’t a first-time visitor but the owner of the place instead.

Were it not for the employee notifying her of his name, and the facial features that vaguely resembled someone she knew, she wouldn’t believe the person before her was her former teammate, Gauss.

”You’ve changed so much!”

”Long time no see, Haylir,” Gauss said with a slight upward curve of his mouth, smiling.
