I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 203: Chapter 182: Ghost Form (9,000-Word Chapter, Monthly Bonus Update, Please Vote!) (Part 2)

She was very worried that Gauss, like the sleeping princess in a fairy tale, would not wake up.

If that happened, she would feel guilty for a lifetime.

Fortunately, it wasn’t the worst possibility.

”Hmm, just woke up.” Gauss glanced at the fruit basket around him and the bright weather.

The gloomy and hazy labyrinth exploration seemed like a long time ago.

”Aaliyah, did you find me in the maze?” He was somewhat curious.

The maze was so complex, it must have been really difficult to find him, right?

Aaliyah shook her head quickly upon hearing this.

”It wasn’t me. I waited but you didn’t come out. I retraced my steps and found I couldn’t go back, so I searched around with Ulfen and Aik. During the search, we encountered the half-snake adventurer we had met twice before.”

”He was the one who found you.”

”Afterwards, we all left the maze together.”

”It was him?” Gauss nodded in surprise.

Unexpectedly, he had such an affinity with him.

”Is he still around?” Gauss continued to ask.

Aaliyah shook her head.

”He has something to attend to and has already left. I wanted to offer some funding as thanks, but he didn’t accept it.”

When Aaliyah said this, she paused.

She always felt that the half-snake man had a good impression of Gauss, but was very distant with her, and even seemed unwilling to interact, avoiding it like the plague.

”Owe someone a big favor again...” Gauss murmured to himself.

Falling unconscious in the maze without teammates to protect him, even a layperson would understand the danger in that.

If it hadn’t brought him out, who knows if he could still be breathing fresh air.

Next time they meet, how should he repay it?

Fortunately, despite the twists and turns, the outcome was still a good one.

Being able to feel the warm sunshine again, this experience was truly wonderful.

Gauss lay in bed for two days.

He didn’t leave the room until he was completely healed.

”The weather is very bright today.” Gauss faced a refreshing breeze.

Perhaps because his health was fully restored, he was in a great mood at the moment.

”The priest said that even after the toxins are completely removed, you should still rest for two days and watch your diet,” Aaliyah reminded him from the side.

”Hmm, got it.”

Thinking of the reason for his coma, Gauss’s expression became slightly more serious.

This time, he had learned a bit of a lesson.

In the spider ghost’s nest and its body, some kind of formless, colorless, and odorless abnormal energy lurks, which can paralyze bodily functions, dulling both constitution and magic power, even to the point of leaving one unable to control them.

Ultimately, it could turn one into a paralyzed, vegetative state.

Now he understood why that adult spider ghost was so confident in facing the three juveniles, not moving the entire time.

The reason lay in the fact that the nest environment was filled with this abnormal energy at all times. Moreover, when fighting and harming the spider ghosts, this abnormal energy would constantly invade rapidly. It can be said that once he entered the nest, without a teleportation scroll or other spatial means, a professional of his level would just wait to be devoured by the immature spider ghosts and turn into nourishment.

What a rogue, and with the advantage of the home terrain...

After coming out of the maze, the hired priest dispelled most of the abnormal energy for him, but a very small portion that remained could only dissipate naturally over time.

Fortunately, due to his good constitution, it did not bother him for too long.

However, Aaliyah was more concerned about his health than he was.

These past few days, she acted almost like a ”mother,” strictly controlling his diet.

Given a teammate’s concern, he couldn’t just disregard it, especially since it was advice from a professional physician.

”How about we go for a stroll in the forest city of Barry today?”

The two of them didn’t have very specific plans today.

Although Gauss was quite interested in testing the blue-quality racial talent he had just acquired, his physical condition wasn’t at its peak yet, so he had to postpone the idea for now.

This outing was mainly because Gauss felt cooped up in the room and wanted to get out for a walk, and Aaliyah accompanied him in shopping.

”Is there anywhere you want to go?”

Gauss shook his head, having no clue.

”Then shall we just visit the pet market?”

Aaliyah thought for a moment and suggested.

Gauss then remembered such a thing.

Their initial plan to visit the forest city was because of the mount matter.

However, they got caught up with the maze last time, pushing the mount issue to the back of their minds momentarily.

Now that their first maze exploration journey had ended, it seemed like a good opportunity to go relax as well.

Spending a lot of time in the maze indeed left one a bit physically and mentally exhausted.

Walking on the streets south of Barry City.

The roads bustled with carriages and people, flowing constantly yet not excessively crowded.

”Hey handsome, would you like a newspaper?”

”Sure, thanks.”

They purchased a copy of the ”Barry Daily” from a newsboy on the street.

Gauss and Aaliyah waited for the bus at the roadside.

Barry, this city, is said to be built upon the foundation of an Elf City, pouring a lot of manpower and resources from the kingdom, and relying on the power of professionals, it was completed.

Not only does it possess various historical sites and spectacular natural landscapes, it also has developed a good system for transportation, water supply, and sewage and garbage disposal.

The two were now ready to experience Barry’s public transportation.

As the name implies, these are vehicles that everyone can take, functionally similar to buses from Gauss’s previous life.

The public buses would stop at special buildings and public places, driving continuously along the inner loop of the outer city every day.
