I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 228: Chapter 190: Winged Kobold, Petrified Valley (4K)_2

So, many times, all he needed to do before a battle was to cast a Blessing Spell on Gauss, occasionally unleash some curse tricks on the enemy creatures, and then patiently wait for Gauss to perform.

The Blessing Spell could enhance Gauss’s attack damage, while the curse tricks could somewhat disrupt the enemy’s performance.

As the two of them crossed the ravine, a wide-open space suddenly appeared before their eyes.

Sunlight shone down from above.

”It really is a Kobold, but... it’s a Winged Kobold!”

Gauss observed the target resting in the clearing.

This was the first time he had encountered such a creature.

Winged Kobolds are a special type of Kobold born with leathery wings and the ability to fly. In terms of combat, they prefer to throw rocks at passersby from high places.

However, since their wings are considered a gift from Tiamat, they are envied by the wingless Kobolds, or ordinary Kobolds, causing these close kin to be unable to coexist harmoniously.

But despite having the ability to fly, they still cannot escape the frail physique of a Kobold, so their combat prowess is not particularly strong. They’re slightly stronger than ordinary Kobolds but far from being elite monsters.

The only thing to watch out for is that they rely on their flying ability, and if the fight goes against them, they can escape.

So, with a Kobold Monster Atlas already in existence, would these Winged Kobolds add a new entry, or would they be cataloged under Kobolds?

Gauss and Serdur exchanged a look and quickly communicated using the Communication Technique.

Serdur dispersed his ethereal weapon and pulled out a hand crossbow.

At the same time, he cast a Blessing Spell on Gauss.

Gauss ventured alone into the relatively open valley.

Upon noticing Gauss’s entrance, the Winged Kobolds quickly took to the sky, although they hadn’t yet reached the state of fleeing in panic.

Compared to their cousin Kobold miners, these Winged Kobolds were slightly more spirited and more willing to engage other creatures in combat. They would also frequently employ swarming tactics utilizing their flying abilities to hunt wild creatures.

At this moment, Gauss was temporarily identified by them as an intruder into their homeland.

”Boom!”

Several large rocks smashed onto the ground at Gauss’s feet.

A White Bone Staff appeared in Gauss’s hand.

Earlier, in the relatively narrow passage of rock walls, it wasn’t suitable for using spells, but now that it was slightly more open, the risk of being buried alive was much reduced.

Of course, it was also because it was difficult for melee attacks to harm the Winged Kobolds in the air temporarily.

”Boom!”

Three Magic Missiles struck three Winged Kobolds.

Soon they fell, crashing to the ground, and took their last breath.

”Three Winged Kobolds killed.”

In Gauss’s Ordinary Monster Atlas interface, the 27th new entry appeared.

He quickly scanned it and found that there were no new titles added, still the original ”Kobold Slayer,” but the number of species increased.

Are they recognized as different species in the atlas, but share the same title effect and progress?

This is like maximizing benefits.

After he officially started attacking, the belatedly aware Winged Kobolds realized that this human in front of them was not to be trifled with and quickly took to the sky to try to escape.

Suddenly a strong wind blew across the top of the valley.

The Winged Kobolds, who were about to flee, couldn’t maintain their flight in the strong wind with their thin leathery wings and were soon blown off balance, some even directly falling to the ground.

”Boom!” ”Boom!” Gauss didn’t stop attacking while the Winged Kobolds adjusted.

The White Bone Staff in his hand, like some kind of long-range weapon from a previous life, continuously fired missiles.

The number of Winged Kobolds wasn’t very large, and soon they were all wiped out under Gauss’s spells and Serdur’s curse tricks.

”Total monster kills: 1875.”

The significant milestone of 2000 was getting closer.

This group of Winged Kobolds didn’t have much ”household savings.” Even their weapons were just primitive rocks. Gauss collected some of their blood and then dissected out their wings, hearts, and organs.

”There are still a few Kobold eggs here.” Serdur found a few brown eggs in a nest piled with branches and knocked on the shell.

”They should be about to hatch.”

Kobolds are oviparous creatures, with frail bodies, short lifespans, and high infant mortality, so they need to lay more than ten eggs a year, and these eggs typically hatch within a few weeks to two or three months.

”Kill them.”

Although they’re eggs, they’re almost ready to hatch and cannot be used as food.

Moreover, Gauss was never fond of eating embryonic poultry like balut in his previous life and still wasn’t interested in this world.

Kobold eggs don’t have much additional value.

So when encountered, just destroy them on the spot.

Gauss drew out the Fine Steel Longsword and cracked each eggshell one by one.

Rust-colored viscous egg liquid oozed out quickly, and the small lizard-shaped creatures inside curled up together.

As Serdur said, these eggs were indeed about to hatch, with several little Kobolds already able to move slightly and crawl.

A pair of limp, bat-like wings draped over their backs.

The little Kobolds, compared to adult ones, had larger heads and soft bodies, making them appear more endearing.

They constantly made soft ”owu owu” sounds, which sounded incredibly endearing.

”Slash!”

Red blood spurted out.

Gauss glanced at them and quickly killed the little Kobold pups.

”Captain, you’re quite ruthless.”
