I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 205: Chapter 182: Ghost Form (9,000-Word Chapter, Early Month Bonus) (Part 4)

As for capturing chocobos directly in the wild, on one hand, the cost of hiring people for the capture is expensive, and on the other hand, wild chocobos are hard to tame. Even if the capture is successful, the cost of subsequent training might be even higher.

”Next, you need to register at the riding registration office. We have staff who will accompany both of you to handle the process.” The merchant, who successfully sold two mounts, was in a great mood, smiling broadly as he informed them of the location, steps, and precautions for registration.

To ride a mount smoothly in Barry City, you need to register at the riding registration office and also undergo a basic test to assess your ability to control the mount.

”You can try it first in the field. Once you feel comfortable, you can proceed to the registration office.”

Gauss led the chocobo by its reins to the open space.

Chocobos truly are excellent creatures for mounts, quickly showing their closeness to him.

Gauss patted its fluffy head.

He flipped himself onto it.

The seat height, about one and a half meters, might be considered high for an average person, but Gauss mounted it very easily.

He sat steadily on the saddle.

Gauss looked at the suddenly elevated view and felt great.

The staff member, who was ready to provide instructions, was relieved to see how effortlessly Gauss managed.

He seemed like a buyer who quickly gets the hang of things.

This also saved them quite a bit of effort.

”Exactly, hold the reins, look ahead, controlling it is quite similar to riding a horse. In fact, our chocobos are somewhat smarter than regular horses...” The staff began introducing and guiding.

Just as he mentioned, the riding technique is shared with horse riding. Use your lower legs to tap the sides for speed, lean slightly forward at a trot, and turn by squeezing the opposite side of the abdomen while tugging the reins in the desired direction.

And although Gauss hadn’t bought a horse, it didn’t mean he hadn’t ridden one.

During breaks while camping out with the caravan, he would consult with the riders and learn horse riding, with his skills improving significantly over several attempts.

Given his agility attribute, his physical control surpassed that of an ordinary person, and he learned techniques faster than average.

Soon enough.

Gauss was steadily riding the chocobo around the field.

Nearby.

Aaliyah’s mastery was even quicker.

She didn’t even need too many techniques.

Relying on a Druid’s natural affinity for animals and her animal communication skills, she quickly gained her chocobo’s trust.

After feeding it a few carrots, it was already following her command willingly.

After becoming familiar with the riding techniques, the two followed the staff to the registration office.

They smoothly completed the information registration without any hitches during the examination.

After a couple of laps at the track behind the office, Gauss had effectively become an ”owner of a vehicle” in this otherworld.

Even though it couldn’t compare to truly prestigious mounts, Gauss was satisfied.

Riding on chocobos, they merged into the bustling main road.

”Da-da-da!”

The rhythmic bounce of the chocobo was consistent, and after getting accustomed, it wasn’t uncomfortable.

Gauss named his chocobo ”Goldmane”, while Aaliyah’s was called ”Slinger”.

”Where to next?”

They test-drove for a while in the traffic.

Before pulling over to the roadside.

”Let me think.”

With the new mounts, their ability to explore the map was further freed.

They could now travel to locations farther from Barry City.

There was no need to hire a carriage or head for a taxi stand.

”Gauss, haven’t you said you haven’t visited the Caster Association yet?” Aaliyah pondered for a moment and asked.

”Yes.” Gauss nodded.

This was his first time in a big city.

And rural areas, or towns like Gray Rock Town, wouldn’t have branches of the Professional Association.

So he naturally hadn’t had the chance to visit the Caster Association.

Aside from the Caster Association, Barry City also has several associations for other professions, the Warrior Association, Ranger Association, Wanderer Association, Priest Association, etc.

Among them, the Caster Association is the most influential, as it covers a wide range of disciplines, besides the commonly seen Mage and Warlock, there are also Wizards, Necromancers, Druids, Tricksters, and even Priests who can register as members of the Caster Association.

”Why not register while we’re at it? Becoming a registered caster is quite necessary. Plus, I have something to do there too.” Aaliyah nodded.

She was also a registered caster.

”Is it about what you told me a couple of days ago?” Gauss asked with a grin. ”Congratulations in advance.”

A hint of joy appeared on Aaliyah’s face, but she soon quelled her excitement.

”It’s nothing yet, could just be my imagination.”

Gauss knew it was likely a done deal.

With Aaliyah’s personality, if something was uncertain, she wouldn’t share it with him, especially something regarding her own cultivation progress.

”But speaking of which, you’ve been a professional for almost two years now, right?”

”Yes, over a year, nearly two years.” Aaliyah nodded.

”In just over a year, advancing from a Level 1 to a Level 2 Professional is quite fast.” Gauss contemplated. ”You should have more confidence in your talent. Your talent isn’t bad at all.”
