Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 1005: Chapter 771: Changes in Diagon Alley

When Kael and Newt left the Dark Forest, the sky had already grown dark.

Under the long-lost moonlight, Newt still complained with a pained expression that Kael shouldn’t have destroyed such a large part of the forest.

”This was the only idea I could think of to deter the werewolves,” Kael explained tirelessly. ”Only by showing absolute strength can we make them give up some unrealistic fantasies in their hearts.

”Didn’t Professor Dumbledore also say that the hatred shouldn’t continue? If werewolves appear on the battlefield this time, that idea would be absolutely impossible to achieve.”

”I know what you’re saying, but...” Newt sighed.

He certainly knew this was the best choice, not killing all the werewolves while also deterring them from getting involved in this war—it was a win-win situation, but he just felt it was a bit of a pity.

Such a large forest, how many Bowtruckles could it support...

”Never mind, it’s not Fiendfyre. With the unique landscape of the Dark Forest, it should recover soon,” Newt consoled himself.

Moreover, he quickly thought of another matter: after Kael used the Engorgement Charm, those plants that had enlarged several times would definitely need more nutrients. The larger tree roots were like a pump, capable of draining all the nutrients from the surrounding area.

Even without the Fiendfyre Curse, the surrounding vegetation might gradually die later.

Regardless, at least Newt felt more comfortable in his heart.

The two continued to walk forward, appearing neither hurried to return.

”Do you really intend to help Mr. Lupin promote the werewolf legislation?” Newt suddenly asked.

”If possible, I don’t mind offering a bit of help,” Kael said. ”Remus has already proven that even werewolves, when growing up in a normal environment, can also become wizards with justice in their hearts. Since he can do it, there’s no reason other werewolves can’t... What they’re missing is just a guiding process.”

”You should know this is very difficult,” Newt said. ”The prejudice wizards have against werewolves has a long history, even becoming instinctive, doesn’t change easily—not even if werewolves unequivocally stand with us.

”No one wants their children to attend classes in the same room as werewolves. If I guess correctly, Dumbledore probably deliberately hid Lupin’s werewolf identity when he enrolled.”

”Indeed, it was like that,” Kael nodded. ”That’s also why I said the chance of the werewolf legislation passing is only one percent.”

Hatred lasting hundreds or thousands of years can’t be reconciled at just a word, surely there’ll be a long process involved,

not to mention that just a week ago, newspapers frequently had reports of werewolves attacking wizards, and people have long assumed werewolves have joined the Death Eaters’ side, making a shift at this moment virtually meaningless.

”So...” Newt looked at Kael, ”Did you intentionally deceive the werewolves to stabilize them?”

”Of course not,” Kael said. ”If it was merely solving the werewolf threat, wouldn’t killing them directly be quicker? At that moment, killing them was even simpler than drinking water, why bother with such tricks.”

”Then do you truly want to help them?” Newt continued asking.

”Not that much,” Kael looked back towards the direction of the Dark Forest, vaguely seeing those glowing eyes within the forest.

”Since if we want most to agree to this werewolf legislation, the key factor isn’t Lupin, not me, nor the Minister of Magic, but the werewolves themselves. Every action they take directly influences most people’s decisions; this variable is too large.

”So I won’t purposely strive to do anything like Remus Lupin, because it may take years, even tens of years, and I don’t want to waste all my time on this matter. But I don’t mind offering a bit of help when possible.”

”Is that so?” Newt said meaningfully, ”Is that what you think?”

”Yes.” Kael nodded, ”At least that’s what I think now.”

”Very sensible,” Newt said.

The two arrived on a hillside outside the Dark Forest.

”What about that werewolf in Knockturn Alley,” Kael asked.

”What is his character like?”

”Not very good,” Kael said. ”According to the Wampus Cat, that werewolf is most like Fenrir Greyback, enjoying biting people, seeking fun even when it’s not the full moon night. That’s why the Death Eaters arranged him in the more important Knockturn Alley, instead of throwing him in the Dark Forest like garbage, waiting for orders.

”So far, in just one month, he has already bitten five people, three wizards, two Muggles.

”That’s only what Yorman knows, and he’s been in the Dark Forest for a long time; there may be more unknown.”

”Hmm... what do you think,” Newt considered for a moment and asked.

”There’s nothing much else to do, let’s go have a look,” Kael thought and said, ”If possible, we can also lend Lupin a bit of help.”

”Then I’ll listen to you,” Newt smiled, seemingly only treating himself as an attachment, completely forgetting he had brought Kael to the Dark Forest.

...

A few minutes later, in London.

Accompanied by a crisp crackling sound, two figures appeared one after the other on a certain street.

Because it was already late, there wasn’t a single person on the street. Almost all shops were closed, with only the center of the street showing a flickering and dim signboard, seeming as if there were poor contact.
