Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 339: Chapter 337: Galleon Award

”Oh... Is Mr. Scamander planning to take you to the Romanian Fire Dragon Reserve?”

Chris looked at the letter just delivered by the owl, and at the expectant Kael in front of him, thoughtfully stroking his chin.

”Do you agree to let me go?” Kael asked.

”If you want to, we have no reason to stop you.” Chris smiled, ”In fact, I have also received an invitation.”

He found a letter from the cabinet in the living room.

”I knew it...” Kael said subconsciously.

On the way back, he had wondered if Chris had also received the invitation.

Being Scamander’s student and the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Magic’s Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, Chris was somewhat famous in the magical creature circles.

Especially after the incident two years ago, when he and Newt returned those smuggled magical creatures to their original places, earning a great deal of prestige.

Being invited this time was no surprise.

”So, will I be going with you?”

”No, you’ll be going with Mr. Scamander. I might be a bit late.”

Chris shook his head, ”Fudge seems to regard this matter highly, and he wants me to represent the Ministry of Magic in Romania.

So I must depart from the Ministry and complete a series of tedious handoffs with the Romanian Ministry of Magic before I can head to the reserve.”

”Sounds like Fudge’s style indeed.”

Diana sat down beside Chris, ”He probably thinks this will enhance his prestige.”

”Perhaps.” Chris took the hot chocolate she handed him and said carelessly, ”Though saying this might upset him, the name of Mr. Barty Crouch would usually be more useful abroad.”

Diana poured Kael a cup of hot chocolate too.

”I don’t oppose you going to Romania to broaden your horizons.” she said, ”But some necessary preparations cannot be omitted... How many times can your ring still be used?”

”Twice.” Kael raised his hand.

During last year’s holidays, he used Disillusionment once to avoid the overly enthusiastic Norbert.

”Give it to me.” Diana said, ”To be safe, it’s better to be cautious.”

”Okay.” Kael nodded, then handed the ring to Diana.

”Can you use Disillusionment in the reserve too?”

”Yes.” Chris explained, ”Romania’s Fire Dragon Reserve is quite large; completely banning Disillusionment is practically impossible.”

Moreover, there’s no need as the dragon tamers have special methods to monitor magical reactions within their range. They just need to focus primarily on those dragon eggs and young dragons... 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

As for adult fire dragons, usually few dare to target them, not to mention stealing them silently.”

Kael thought about it and found it indeed so.

All this time, the Romanian Fire Dragon Reserve had never lost a fire dragon; even the Antipodean Opaleye from two years ago was taken by Oren’s group from elsewhere.

Furthermore, he also heard that the selection of dragon tamers was very strict; although certificates aren’t required, the rest is almost like choosing Aurors.

Not sure if it’s true.

After finishing the hot chocolate, Kael returned to his room upstairs.

This visit to Romania is uncertain how long it’ll last, so he must finish those assignments within a month, including the paper for ”Today’s Transfiguration Technique.”

The assignments were okay; Kael finished them in a few days, it was easy, but that professional paper was different.

Professor McGonagall had given him two months for a reason.

This kind of academic paper requires rigorous logic, where every viewpoint he raises needs a vast theoretical foundation to verify its feasibility from multiple aspects.

After that, he also needs to conduct multiple experiments, meticulously record the complete process, and study and analyze the final results.

...

Although the award for Most Promising Newcomer is aimed at current Hogwarts students, making these aspects relatively lenient, Kael still purchased over a dozen books on Transfiguration Technique, taking nearly two weeks to finally finish the paper.

When Kael went outside again, July was almost over.

Meanwhile, the Weasley family next door had a significant event happen.

”Kael, come and see this!”

”Haha! I bet you won’t believe it!”

Fred and George ran over enthusiastically, shoving a copy of the Daily Prophet in front of Kael.

”Congratulations to Arthur Weasley on winning the annual Daily Prophet’s Golden Galleon Award...”

Below was a photograph of Mr. Weasley standing with the Editor-in-Chief Barnabas Cuffe, both smiling broadly.

”How many Galleons...” Kael asked.

”Seven hundred.” Fred gesticulated excitedly, ”Previously it was always five hundred, but they felt there were too few people, so they increased the prize.”

”We participated too.” George said, ”But only won a guessing prize.”

”A total of twelve Sickles...”

”Last time when we guessed the new Minister of Magic, it all went back again...”

It was clear Fred and George were genuinely happy, the first time since House-Elf Dobby was taken away by Kael they’ve been so joyful.

Or perhaps the entire Weasley family was very happy.

When Kael followed them to the Shabby Residence, he even saw Percy, who would usually be in his room at this time rather than here chatting with Ginny.

”Oh, almost forgot the main thing...” Fred smacked his head upon returning to the Shabby Residence.

”Kael, Mom’s planning to use this money to visit Bill, why don’t you come along with us.”

”Yes, dear.” Mrs. Weasley also came over, ”Seven hundred Galleons, it’s going to be a wonderful trip.”

”I’m already impatient...” Ginny said, holding her face, ”Do you think Bill will take us to see inside the pyramids?”

”Of course he will...”

Everyone chirped away discussing.

”Sorry, Mrs. Weasley.” Kael sighed, ”I have to go to the Romanian Fire Dragon Reserve with Mr. Scamander in August, so I might not be able to travel with you.”

”Romania?” Ginny asked in surprised, ”Are you going to see Charlie?”

Their brother Charlie Weasley went to Romania to study fire dragons after graduating.

”You could say so.” Kael grinned, ”I’m planning to have him be my guide.”

”Mom, why don’t we also go to Romania.” George suddenly said, ”I’ve never seen a fire dragon.”

His idea was supported by everyone else.

They could go anywhere, as the fire dragons and the pyramids both intrigue them.

”If you want to see fire dragons, we can go next year, but this year let’s stick to the original plan to visit Bill.”

At this moment, Mr. Weasley came down from upstairs, ”There’s a major event happening in Romania recently, the Fire Dragon Reserve is no longer open to the public, even if we go we wouldn’t be able to see Charlie.”

”But why can Kael...”

”Oh?” Mr. Weasley didn’t show any surprise, asking naturally, ”Are you going with your dad or Mr. Scamander?”

”Mr. Scamander.” Kael replied with a smile.

”I thought so... they’d definitely invite him.”

Fred was even more curious and looked disapprovingly at Kael and Mr. Weasley.

”Come on, can someone explain to us why Kael gets to see Charlie and we can’t...”

”Also, what’s this major event in Romania, can’t we really change our plans?”
