Chapter 325: Chapter 321: The Church at Dusk

”Something’s strange.”

Zhu Wenwu crouched slightly and said in a low voice, ”These monsters were previously easy to defeat, but now they can fight against the Screamer.”

Su Changxing thought for a moment and replied, ”They have a clear target. Hunting the Screamer brings them some significant benefit... Let’s go around them, don’t engage.”

The exact number of these so-called ”New humans” is still unknown to them, and it’s not necessary to engage in a pointless battle that exposes their position.

They detoured through another street, where scattered bodies lay on the ground, most of them incomplete, having been gnawed on.

After clearing out the nearby zombies, Su Changxing suddenly stopped, noticing that the brains of several corpses on the ground had disappeared, and brain matter was splattered everywhere.

Hmm, a very familiar scene.

Su Changxing observed the surroundings and said, ”She should be nearby...”

Zhu Wenwu’s eyes narrowed, and he said, ”The number of New humans around here has suddenly increased, abnormally dense.”

As they continued forward, the streets became littered with bodies, all fresh, with blood flowing along the cracks in the pavement.

A brutal battle had just taken place here.

Images gradually formed in Su Changxing’s mind, with Jin retreating towards the church, surrounded by these ”New humans.”

These ”New humans” weren’t as numerous as zombies, but they had powerful individuals among them.

······

”Just wait, that monster is too powerful. Hehe, but she should be nearly finished. I can feel it.”

A man with a bare upper body, dried flesh, white hair, and two fleshy wings constantly flapping stood on a building’s edge, speaking with a sinister smile.

Across from him, a fat man with a giant-like stature and a face full of flesh said angrily, ”You said the same thing before and then hid at the back.”

The man with wings laughed, ”I didn’t encourage anyone to go, they were just eager. Can’t blame anyone for that.”

As he spoke, he displayed a slightly fearful expression, shocked by the exaggerated power in the church, likely comparable to those few, or even stronger!

But this was their territory, a hell for these intruding humans.

”What are you arguing about? She won’t last the night. Before it gets dark, we can take her down.”

A hooded figure stood up from the ground, leaning on a cane, and admonished.

After he spoke, everyone became a bit more silent. He was considered the most experienced among them, and today’s heavy losses made everyone uneasy.

This time seemed different, such a powerful being recklessly intruding into their place was unprecedented.

”We’ll kill her and send a warning to those outside, this is our exclusive forbidden area!”

He said blandly, like a dead tree without any vitality.

The surrounding New humans said nothing, tacitly agreeing with the hooded man’s words. This New human was reportedly one of the first to become a New human, with unfathomable strength.

If not for that monster, he would not usually appear.

Everything that exists has its rules, and these New humans are no exception.

Rules amidst chaos, regulations in darkness.

······

The more they advanced, the denser the corpses became, with a building demolished halfway, collapsed, blocking the view ahead.

Standing on the ruins, one could see the full silhouette of the church. The Copper Bell above lay sideways on the platform outside the eaves, casting a long shadow in the dusk.

Zhou An took a sharp breath and said, ”Too many of them, are they holding a concert here?”

A large number of New humans, over a hundred, stood inside and outside the church’s exterior walls, silently watching the main entrance of the church, appearing sullen, as if some fierce beast lay within, daring not to step forward but unwilling to retreat.

They looked in Su Changxing’s direction, displaying a murderous and frenzied expression, like poisonous snakes, like legendary demons, anything but human.

Su Changxing, with excellent vision, saw through the gap above, the scene in the church courtyard, corpses piled up to form a higher ground, red earth mixed with dead, withered plant remains.

Especially at the church’s main entrance, up the high steps, corpses were piled into a small mountain, with one gigantic corpse larger than the copper statue at the front, an arm forcibly torn off, showing thick tendons.

The main entrance was entirely broken into a larger hole, with another gigantic corpse inside, as huge as the legendary Giant.

Yet he lay on the ground, dead, buried in the ruins.

Su Changxing saw a pair of deep blue, jewel-like sparkling eyes, reminiscent of the last star disappearing at dawn.

A girl, covered in blood and filth, sat leaning against the Giant’s corpse, one foot resting on the other’s thigh, with a concentrated smile at her lips, staring blankly ahead.

Su Changxing’s eyes slightly trembled, unable to imagine how Shen Jinxuan faced so many monsters, persisting until now, making those monsters hesitant to act recklessly.

This seemed absurd, yet it was the fact.

In terms of time, she had already fought these monsters for a day and night, and even the strongest human would face exhaustion.

Zhu Wenwu also glimpsed the scene in the courtyard, swallowing hard, his Adam’s apple moving slightly, his body trembling all over:

”These monsters are besieging her, but their casualties are extraordinarily heavy... What kind of power is this!”

Su Changxing removed a necklace and calmly said, ”You guys provide cover. I’m going to rescue her, if anything unexpected happens, just leave on your own.”

Ghostly green shadows appeared around him, standing on the ruins, with the largest one wielding a long Scythe, shrouded in mist.

”Take this.”

Su Changxing handed three Hand Grenades to Zhou An, Zhu Wenwu, and Xiaobo: ”Look for a chance to maximize the damage.”

In the next moment.

He rushed toward the church, holding a Steel Saber, charging through the swirling New humans, his body turning into an afterimage at high speed.

Zhou An was a bit startled, seeing Su Changxing suddenly charging forward, feeling it was abrupt and caught off guard, he shouted:

”Brother Bo, follow me, let’s circle around from the side.”

He held a Hand Grenade in one hand, and a Flying Saber in the other, running towards the other side with Monkey King.

Zhu Wenwu surveyed his surroundings, took a deep breath, and ran forward following Su Changxing, also noticing a few particular figures on the left side of the church.

In his view, charging directly was indeed very passive, but Su Changxing had already rushed in, leaving him no choice but to follow.
