Chapter 313: Chapter 309: Gathering Place Amid the Undead Tide

The undead tide surged relentlessly, looking extremely terrifying, as if endless. Fortunately, the tide had just formed and wasn’t completely dense yet.

An Evil Spirit stood on the edge, submerged by the tide, and disappeared completely after a few seconds.

The ability of the Lady of the House is indeed terrifying in this Zombie World. She is the ruler here, as if everything obeys her command.

”But if it’s only at this level, it doesn’t mean much.”

Su Changxing moved like an unstoppable steamroller, crushing the undead tide beneath him.

The three of them traveled through the tide with extreme speed, successfully breaking away before it fully formed. Su Changxing had already chopped down four to five hundred zombies along the way, and he had switched to his second Steel Saber.

”These zombies are really insane, like programmed robots marching one after another.”

Zhou An looked at the piles of bodies behind them and sighed.

After breaking through the tide, their pressure instantly lessened. The Lady of the House seemed to not intend to pursue them relentlessly, just testing.

Su Changxing straightened up, withdrew from the front, and said:

”They are partly controlled by humans, making them even more troublesome. We still can’t stop; let’s find a place to rest later.”

This area belonged to the northern part of the city. From the remaining buildings, it appeared more prosperous than before, with several massive overpasses stretching across the city’s airspace, filled with abandoned vehicles.

Zhu Wenwu, slightly out of breath, nodded and said, ”I’m still good to go. We’ll see if Fatty Zhou can hold on.”

Zhou An glanced sideways at Zhu Wenwu, retorting, ”As long as I’m not dead, I can keep going. Also, my role is the Juggler. Do you know what a Juggler is?”

The Juggler’s ability is quite versatile, including long-distance sprinting. Zhou An was actually more at ease with that.

Zhu Wenwu kicked away a lunging zombie and said, ”So, I find it unreasonable that you awakened with this role. Based on what? Thought?”

”Based on innate traits, self-awakening is itself fitting. Your role compatibility is very high, and that’s proof.”

Su Changxing manipulated the group of Evil Spirits as he spoke.

Initially, there were over twenty Evil Spirits, but after the earlier undead tide, only a dozen remained.

But this number of Evil Spirits was just right for Su Changxing, relatively easy to control.

Because the environment here was more complicated, their progress slowed somewhat. They cautiously moved under the overpass, hidden in the moonlight’s shadow.

Halfway through, Zhu Wenwu frowned and said, ”Brother Su, something’s not right around here. I don’t sense any living humans, just void.”

Previously, along the way, he occasionally sensed hiding humans in nearby buildings. Some even accidentally saw them through windows, scared to death, mistaking them for Hunters.

Most who traveled at night were Hunters.

Su Changxing was briefly stunned and said, ”Let’s keep moving and see. Maybe there’s something strange here. Everyone, be careful.”

Zhu Wenwu’s Perception Ability was indeed powerful, far exceeding the range that the head could typically cover.

Throughout their night journey, apart from zombies, they’ve encountered nothing else. Any extra corpses were quickly cleared by these zombies.

Half an hour later, when Su Changxing and his group prepared to rest, they saw flames blazing high up in the sky ahead.

”What is that!”

Zhou An widened his eyes and reflexively stood up from the ground.

Zhu Wenwu closed his eyes, then opened them again and said, ”There are many people over there, many people.”

He vaguely sensed that there was a strong, lively human presence that burned like flames in the direction of the fire, entirely different from the cold zombies.

Su Changxing cast aside his empty water bottle and decided, ”Let’s go check it out. There should be a gathering spot over there; it seems like something’s happening.”

From the forum, they knew there was a gathering spot in the vicinity, not small in scale, but the exact number of people was unknown.

The fire signified danger, likely attracting the attention of zombies and even drawing in a tide.

Following a previous method, they chose a route and headed in that direction quietly and quickly. This time, they didn’t have Monkey King lead the way; with just Tao Yi, there was even less noise.

As Su Changxing observed the nearby zombies, he said, ”All the zombies are moving in one direction, likely forming a massive tide here.”

This undead tide formation had nothing to do with the Lady of the House. But encountering two major tides in one night was notably rare.

Zhou An hesitated, saying, ”Should we still go? If we head to the city edge, we might make a detour.”

Zhu Wenwu confidently replied, ”We need to go and see. There are lots of people there. We need to check what’s going on.”

Su Changxing nodded and gestured, ”Yeah, let’s see what’s happening.”

As they drew nearer, more zombies poured towards them.

Zhu Wenwu’s eyes widened, and he said in a restrained voice, ”There are many people there, that gathering spot has thousands.”

Thousands?

Creating a gathering spot for tens of thousands is currently difficult, except for organizations like the Security Bureau.

So why is there a gathering spot for thousands here?

”Let’s head up to that tall building ahead to see what’s happening.”

Su Changxing pointed to a relatively tall building in front of them and said.

The building faced the direction of the flames, which should provide some view.

They rushed straight into the building, Tao Yi blocked the stairwell to stop the zombies below, while Su Changxing’s group reached the rooftop.

From there, they could see the center of the undead tide, which was a closed-off community—the gathering spot.

A large number of human corpses were piled on the ground, submerged by the tide. The humans in the gathering spot were forced back bit by bit. In one building, flames soared high, four to five meters taller than the building itself due to the chimney effect.

Zhu Wenwu said in a deep voice, ”Someone must have intentionally set a fire in the gathering spot, causing the undead tide... it’s insane, but those corpses on the ground seem to have been there beforehand.”

Su Changxing fell silent as he watched the scene below, spirits wandering among the tide. With a flick of his fingers, he could form a multitude of Evil Spirits.

The ”Pastoral Spirit” ability proved exceptionally powerful in such circumstances.

It’s a perk that comes from a Tier Seven ability.

He pondered and then said, ”Zhou An, check the forum for any information about this gathering spot.”
