Chapter 303: Chapter 299: Kill Me

Over eight hundred people died in one night in the settlement, but the total number did not decrease at all, instead, it increased.

More people have entered the settlement.

The teams returning from outside all had different expressions, none were relaxed, having gone through a life and death ordeal, they were all physically and mentally exhausted.

The settlement was bustling with people, giving a sense of liveliness.

In a dim and dilapidated study, the firelight flickered, illuminating the profiles of three people, the boundaries were not clear, it was a gradual change from light to dark.

Huang Biao, with bandages wrapped around his waist, said in a deep voice, ”A large number of people in the settlement have already transformed into zombies, and quite a few are causing trouble.”

”Causing trouble?”

Su Changxing frowned and said, ”For what, too many people have died?”

Last night’s operation, they implemented guidance and some coercive measures, it seemed all voluntary, but actually it was not, after all, no one is willing to risk death.

Huang Biao shook his head and said, ”Not that, it’s about the Extraordinary, the increase in zombie transformations has made everyone tense, everyone knows we hold the way to become Extraordinary... and they think we are hiding the truth.”

Zhu Wenwu’s expression flickered slightly, calmly said, ”It’s just that some people who want to survive are thinking too simplistically about all this.”

Huang Biao grinned and said, ”It seems we don’t have deterrent power over some of the newcomers, nor cohesion.”

Su Changxing stared at the firelight, after a moment of silence, said, ”Has it been dealt with?”

Huang Biao nodded, said lightly, ”Dealt with, the instigators of the trouble have been dealt with, the problem is not too big, just now people are uneasy.”

”Tap tap tap~”

There came a knock at the door.

Huang Biao glanced back, yelled, ”Come in!”

The person who entered was covered in blood, clothes in tatters, carrying a large hammer, it was Qian Runwei, one of the seven Extraordinary of the settlement.

He walked in, eyes bloodshot, stood in front of the three for a long time in silence, then said:

”I’m sorry... all the more than a hundred people with me are all dead, I’m sorry to them... it’s all my fault, I shouldn’t have been so reckless...”

As he spoke, he appeared somewhat incoherent, seemingly unable to face Su Changxing and the others.

Su Changxing had already known about Qian Runwei’s team situation, except for Qian Runwei, almost all had died, engulfed in a sudden massive undead tide.

It was his responsibility, yet it also wasn’t.

Su Changxing smiled faintly and said, ”I told you, as long as a few of you Extraordinary can survive, the deaths of others are unavoidable, consider them necessary deaths.”

There is indeed a great difference between people, some take death lightly, while others attach unexpected importance to it.

Life can be light or heavy, it all depends on how it’s viewed.

Qian Runwei nodded, his expression unchanged, said, ”Brother Su, is it really worth it for us to do this? We are forcing people to their deaths.”

Zhu Wenwu frowned, interjected, ”If this continues, they’ll still die, you know.”

Qian Runwei took a deep breath, with a complex look in his eyes, nodded, ”Yes, I know, even though the result is the same, I feel like I’m personally killing people.”

Su Changxing stood up, placed a hand on his shoulder, calmly said, ”Even if you really kill, so what, as long as our goal is correct, and besides, the times have changed, Runwei... go and rest for a while, a nap will do you good.”

Qian Runwei nodded at these words, turned silently to leave, holding the large hammer steadily with one hand.

Zhu Wenwu turned his head to look at Su Changxing, said, ”He thinks too much, thinking too much is prone to problems.”

Su Changxing nodded thoughtfully, felt the same way, said:

”Most people in this situation would instinctively avoid thinking about such things, or deceive themselves to a certain extent, it’s a form of self-protection.”

Huang Biao looked at his phone, reminded, ”Basically everyone has returned, and a large part has already been strengthened.”

Su Changxing thought for a moment, said, ”Rest for a bit, start at sunset, but this time it might not work.”

It might be very dangerous... he said silently in his heart.

Last time, when he influenced the masses, it attracted the heretics, almost causing a big disaster, but he was still prepared to try again.

Last time might have been an accident, and even if it attracts the heretics again, relying on the mechanism of the discount shop should still solve it.

After noon, all the remaining survivors returned to the settlement, less than a third of the original number, mostly led by Extraordinary.

They were distinctly different from others, having crossed a city full of zombies at night and survived.

A group of peculiar people gathered in an open area of the settlement, their faces showing several conspicuous callouses, skin pale, like they were ill, seeming very abnormal.

A young man in a blue hoodie stood in the crowd, shouted loudly:

”Drive these zombie-transformed people out of the settlement, after all, they can go crazy at any time.”

Next to him, Chang Yi, who had his arms crossed, angrily said, ”Drive them out? Right now anyone can transform into a zombie, including you.”

After Chang Yi spoke, no one else made a sound, everyone knew Chang Yi was now considered a powerful Superpower User, and very likely to become Extraordinary.

Shortly after.

Huang Tao dragged a bloodstained Steel Saber, led several people from outside, looking murderous, they had just dealt with some troublemakers.

”What are you all doing here? Disperse if you have nothing to do.”

Huang Tao unceremoniously shouted, his words carrying a fierce tone.

The crowd of onlookers dispersed to do their own things, knowing that Huang Tao was ruthless and had no scruples, having even directly killed four or five people before.

But no one said anything, his uncle was the leader of the settlement, so his actions seemed reasonable and legal.

Huang Tao looked indifferent, walked up, stood before the people and said:

”You all show signs of zombie transformation, that’s undeniable, like Wang Haisheng who died before, but the settlement won’t kill you directly, not until you truly become zombies.”

Hearing this, many people sighed in relief, at least they wouldn’t die right away, there seemed to be a slim chance before turning into a zombie.

”Wow~”

A woman who seemed relatively young suddenly knelt on the ground, emotionally collapsed, cried out, ”Kill me, kill me, I don’t want to become a zombie... since I’m going to die anyway, just kill me now.”

Tears mixed with dust on her cheeks flowed down, tracing a line to her ears.
