Chapter 310: Chapter 306: The Underground Burrowing Monster

Lin Xiuyu nodded and said, ”At present, it seems that there is something in the No-Man’s Land that can disrupt mobile phone signals, leading to disconnection between people and the Doomsday Game, but people are also almost dead.”

Not far away, several members of the Security Bureau stationed at the outpost had already come forward, along with clearing the surrounding zombies. These people were quite capable in combat, facing these more powerful zombies with great discipline.

Zhong Jueqing walked quickly forward, saying to Cai Jing, who was wearing a dust-covered black tight suit:

”Let’s go over and have a look. Cai Jing, you observe the surroundings from here. Be careful not to let that thing come over.”

”Hmm, okay, I will notify you at any time if there’s a situation. Due to the proximity to the danger zone, there are often some monsters lurking around here.”

Cai Jing nodded and swiftly led a few people toward a nearby tall building.

The outpost here was also only temporarily established, and the situation around it was very severe, facing threats not only from zombies but also from monsters similar to Screamers.

Just half a day ago, a small team of a hundred people was annihilated under the siege of several monsters, with the corpses completely devoured.

These monsters suddenly disappeared afterward, hiding somewhere unknown, as if vanishing into thin air.

Arriving at the gathering place, Zhong Jueqing saw a person lying on the bed, his entire body pitch-black and motionless, seemingly dead yet still breathing, with no visible injuries on the body.

A person dressed in white standing beside him looked up and said, ”Leader, his organs have completely failed, but strangely he hasn’t died yet, still alive, as if his organs have undergone mutation.”

Zhong Jueqing stared at the person on the bed in silence for a while before saying, ”See if he can survive, be careful... he might turn into a monster.”

The person in the white coat nodded solemnly, ”Okay, we will be vigilant and will execute him before any problems arise.”

No one believed this person had a chance of survival; he was only valuable for research, to extract some critical information from him.

Zhong Jueqing took Lin Xiuyu to the adjacent room, where six Extraordinary were already waiting, both males and females, but all were young.

”How is your physical condition now, are you feeling any obvious abnormalities?”

Zhong Jueqing, wearing sunglasses, said calmly, unintentionally exerting great pressure.

The leading person wore a silver-black armor, looking extremely heavy and robust. His expression changed slightly as he said,

”We’re alright, so far nothing seems wrong. Extraordinary indeed have resistance to this kind of radiation... but I believe our resistance is limited and will also face issues at some point.”

Zhong Jueqing nodded, not speaking, seemingly contemplating something, causing the entire room to fall into silence.

Only half of these people were originally from the Security Bureau, while the other three were civilians. Although they became Extraordinary, in some areas, they were still not as good as professionally trained soldiers or police officers.

However, at this point, there were no other options.

”You are Extraordinary and our only hope. Thank you all.”

Zhong Jueqing slightly bowed his head, showing a particular expression on his face, seemingly a sense of powerlessness:

”Let’s stick to the original plan. For the first phase, the priority is to investigate along the direction of the Energy Station in preparation for the next phase.”

Lin Xiuyu stood behind Zhong Jueqing, also bowing his head, saying, ”Thank you, Captain Jia, and everyone.”

The leading Extraordinary replied resolutely, ”We guarantee the completion of the mission.”

Just then, Zhong Jueqing’s phone vibrated.

”The view here is not bad.”

Cai Jing stood on the building, looking around and saying, her vision was excellent, able to see far into the distance.

Beside her, a small boy stood on the railing, saying,

”Sister Cai Jing, those monsters shouldn’t come here, right? The leader and those Extraordinary are all here, coming here would be seeking death for them.”

Cai Jing’s face remained cold, with her hands in her arms, shaking her head, ”You never know, those things are not beasts; they are monsters. Don’t overthink, let’s just stay alert.”

Suddenly, several black dots flickered at the edge of her vision, something like worms emerged from the ground, dragging the corpses from the ground down with them again.

”What’s that?”

Cai Jing widened her eyes, sensing bad news, and quickly took out her phone to message Zhong Jueqing.

These monsters were actually hiding underground, no wonder so many buildings collapsed around here; they were probably destroyed by undermining the foundations.

She could already imagine what it must be like underground.

Immediately afterward, they felt the building beneath them shaking constantly, as if an earthquake was occurring.

”Run! Let’s get out of here.”

Cai Jing shouted, turning to run downstairs.

This building was already a dangerous one, and collapsing would only take a moment. Falling from such a height, they would turn into a pile of flesh.

The few people remained relatively calm, possibly because Cai Jing was leading them, quickly following her down the broken stairs.

······

The ritual preparation was not complicated, mainly about severing ties with the previous ritual.

Su Changxing gathered this group of people again, with the same selection as before, but this time the atmosphere was more solemn.

They knew this was their chance to become Extraordinary, possibly their last opportunity, with the highest urgency in each of their hearts.

Su Changxing surveyed the crowd, noticing Zhu Xin Xue staring at him with wide eyes, seemingly having something to say, but due to the occasion, having no opportunity.

Su Changxing glanced at her and then spread his hands, saying loudly,

”Just like before, relax, this is a ritual to become Extraordinary. Only if you completely accept it, can you possibly become Extraordinary.”

Invisible mist spread everywhere, causing everyone to fall asleep in a short amount of time.

”Something’s not right.”

Su Changxing frowned, realizing that this ritual felt different, lacking the previous vitality.

It really doesn’t work.

Is it time? Or frequency?

This ritual must have some kind of limitation, but Su Changxing hadn’t figured it out yet.

He adhered to the principle of completing the play, not stopping the ritual immediately, and quietly waited as before. The ritual should still have some effect, albeit minimal.

The authority said to himself, ”Hmm, it doesn’t work, this is normal. This counts as a position-triggered ritual without special regulations, so some strange issues will occur.”

Until the ritual was about to end, when Su Changxing thought no Extraordinary would emerge, a wave of Extraordinary power emanated from the crowd.
