Re-Awakened :I Ascend as an SSS-Ranked Dragon Summoner

Noah had just finished bathing and was drying his body coming out of his bathroom, the towel slung low around his waist, steam still curling off his shoulders into the cooler air of the room.

He turned and nearly dropped the towel entirely.

Sophie was seated on the edge of his bed, legs crossed, watching him with the particular calm of someone who had been sitting there for a while and had no intention of announcing herself early.

”You should consider a shampoo ad,” she said. ”With hair like that. Genuinely. I’d buy whatever they were selling.”

”How long have you been sitting there,” Noah said, finishing the towel work on his hair with slightly more haste than before.

”Long enough to appreciate the view,” Sophie said, deadpan. ”Don’t worry. I knocked. You just didn’t hear me over the shower.”

Noah pulled on a clean shirt, the fabric settling over still-damp skin, and looked at her properly. She’d dressed differently than he was used to seeing her on the facility, something simple and soft instead of faction gear, her hair down rather than pulled back for combat readiness, and there was a tiredness around her eyes that hadn’t fully gone away even with the smile.

”You said we needed to talk,” he said.

”I did,” she said. ”But not like this. Not standing in your room with you half dressed and both of us tired and everything still raw. I want to actually talk to you. Properly. Like people who like each other and haven’t seen each other in a while,”

Noah sat down on the bed beside her.

”Okay,” he said. ”Talk.”

”Not here,” Sophie said. ”Get dressed properly. I want to take you somewhere.”

---

The restaurant she picked sat tucked into a quiet corner of the rebuilt inner district, the kind of place that didn’t advertise itself loudly, candlelight and low conversation and a menu that didn’t have a single thing on it that needed to be eaten quickly. Sophie had clearly thought about this beforehand, had probably made the reservation days ago for whenever he actually got back, and something about that quiet preparation settled warm in Noah’s chest before either of them had said a word about anything real.

They ordered. They ate slowly. For a while neither of them brought up anything heavier than the food itself, Sophie teasing him about how he ate like someone who’d forgotten what a fork was for after months of fighting Harbingers and frost giants and whatever else, and Noah letting her have that, letting the easy version of them exist for as long as it wanted to.

Eventually the conversation found its way there anyway.

”I went to see him,” Sophie said, looking at her glass rather than at Noah. ”Jayden. The memorial stand Kelvin built. And his aunt, after.”

”How did that go,” Noah said.

”Badly,” Sophie said. ”Honestly. She doesn’t forgive me. She told me that plainly, no softening it. And I didn’t ask her to. I just needed to be in the room with her once, let her say what she needed to say to my face instead of to a stream clip.” She turned the glass slowly between her fingers. ”I understand why she can’t forgive me. I’m not even sure I’ve forgiven myself. I just know I’d do it again.”

”I know,” Noah said quietly.

”I needed you,” Sophie said, and her voice cracked slightly on it, not dramatically, just honestly, the kind of crack that came from someone who’d held a feeling steady for a long time and was finally letting a little of it out. ”After everything. After Jayden, after the briefing room, after the hostage thing while you were gone. I needed you here and you weren’t, and I understand why you weren’t, I do, your parents, the mission, all of it makes sense in my head. But understanding it didn’t make the missing you any smaller.”

Noah reached across the table and took her hand.

”I’m sorry,” he said. ”Not for going. I think I needed to go, the same way you needed to do what you did with Jayden. But I’m sorry for the gap it left you standing in while I wasn’t here to help fill it.”

”I’m not asking you to apologize for existing as your own person,” Sophie said. ”I just need you to understand that loving someone who disappears into things that matter to him doesn’t make the disappearing easy. It just makes it survivable, because I love you enough to survive it.”

”I hear you,” Noah said. ”I mean that. Not just saying it because it’s the right thing to say in the moment. I actually hear you.”

She held his hand a moment longer, then exhaled, something in her shoulders loosening that had been tight since before he sat down.

”Okay,” she said. ”Good. I needed that said out loud, both directions.”

They were three bites into dessert when the first phone came up.

It wasn’t subtle. A woman two tables over had clearly been building up the nerve for the last several minutes, and the flash of her camera caught both of them mid-laugh at something Sophie had said, and within ninety seconds the entire restaurant seemed to know exactly who was sitting in the corner booth.

”Oh no,” Sophie said, watching the ripple spread table to table.

”We should have worn disguises,” Noah said.

”We did wear disguises,” Sophie said. ”You’re wearing a baseball cap. That is apparently not sufficient camouflage for someone with your specific hair situation.”

By the time the check came, a small cluster had gathered near the entrance, phones already up, a couple of teenagers visibly debating whether approaching was socially acceptable, and the restaurant’s manager was hovering near their table with the particular anxious energy of someone trying to figure out how to protect his guests without making the situation worse.

”We need to go,” Noah said, standing.

”Through the kitchen,” the manager said immediately, already gesturing toward a side door. ”I’ll walk you out the back.”

They made it three blocks before the first group caught up with them anyway, polite but persistent, phones out, someone asking for a photo, someone else asking if Storm was nearby, and Noah signed two things and posed for one photo and gently but firmly kept walking, Sophie’s hand still in his, both of them laughing despite the chaos because there genuinely wasn’t anything else to do about it.

”This was supposed to be quiet,” Sophie said, once they’d finally outpaced the group.

”When has anything about us ever been quiet,” Noah said.

She looked at him sideways, something mischievous creeping into her expression that Noah recognized from years of history with her.

”Come on,” she said, pulling him by the hand toward the brightly lit hotel sign two streets over.

Noah blinked. ”Sophie.”

”What,” she said. ”We’re already out. Nobody’s going to find us in a hotel room. And frankly, after the day you’ve had and the week I’ve had, I think we’ve both earned somewhere quiet that isn’t a faction bunk.”

”This is spontaneous,” Noah said, genuinely caught off guard. ”You’re being spontaneous.”

”I can be spontaneous,” Sophie said, mock offended.

”You met me a virgin,” Noah said. ”I was a shy, terrified eighteen year old who didn’t know how to talk to girls properly.”

”And now you’re a twenty-something with white hair and a dragon collection who occasionally punches mountains,” Sophie said. ”People change. I’m allowed to be spontaneous too.”

She checked them in at the front desk with the easy confidence of someone who’d apparently already decided this was happening before she’d even suggested it out loud, and Noah followed her up to the room with the particular disbelief of a man watching someone he thought he knew completely reveal a side of herself he hadn’t fully accounted for.

---

The room was simple, warm-lit, a wide window looking out over the harbor lights in the distance, and Sophie kicked off her shoes the moment the door closed behind them and pulled out her phone, scrolling for a moment before something soft and slow started playing from the small speaker on the desk.

”Dance with me,” she said.

”I don’t really dance,” Noah said.

”I know,” Sophie said. ”I watched you try at the academy gala once. It was endearing in a tragic sort of way.”

”Encouraging,” Noah said, but he crossed the room anyway, and she stepped into his arms like it was the most natural motion in the world, one hand finding his shoulder, the other resting against his chest.

They moved slowly, nothing technical about it, just a gentle sway in time with the music, and for a long while neither of them said anything at all, the easy quiet between them doing more work than words could have managed.

”I missed this,” Sophie said eventually, her head resting against his chest. ”Not the big things. Not the missions or the streams or any of it. Just this. You, me, no audience, no crisis.”

”Me too,” Noah said.

”I’m not asking you to stop being who you are,” she said quietly. ”I fell for that person. The one who runs toward the thing everyone else runs from. I just need you to keep coming back to this too. To us. Even when the world’s on fire somewhere else.”

”I will,” Noah said. ”I promise.”

She tilted her head up to look at him.

”I believe you,” she said. ”I just also reserve the right to be furious with you every single time you disappear without warning.”

”That seems fair,” Noah said.

”It is fair,” Sophie said. ”Diana already threatened your blood flow on my behalf. I figured I’d just stick to dancing.”

Noah laughed, the sound coming up easy and real, and pulled her a little closer, and outside the window the harbor lights kept their slow, patient rhythm against the dark water, indifferent to everything that had happened that day and everything still waiting beyond it.

The sway of the music between them slowed until they were barely moving, just standing in the center of the room, held together by the quiet gravity of the moment. Noah leaned down, his lips brushing against the crown of her head, inhaling the scent of her hair. Sophie tilted her face up, her dark eyes locking onto his, wide and full of an unspoken invitation that had been building since they sat down at the restaurant.

Noah did not hesitate. He reached down, his fingers hooking beneath the hem of her soft sweater. Sophie lifted her arms, allowing him to slide the fabric up and over her head in one smooth motion, tossing it onto the floor. Underneath, she wore a simple, dark lace bra that framed the soft curves of her breasts. Her skin was warm, a stark contrast to the cool air of the hotel room.

”You are staring,” Sophie murmured, though her voice lacked any real bite. A small, genuine flush was spreading across her collarbones.

”Can you blame me?” Noah said, his voice dropping an octave.

He reached behind her back, his fingers tracing the line of her spine until he found the clasp of her bra. With a practiced pinch, the tension released. He slid the straps down her arms, letting the lace fall away entirely.

Sophie’s breasts were perfect, full and soft, tipping slightly upward with deep, cherry-red nipples that were already hardening in response to the shift in temperature and his gaze. Noah cupped the weight of them in his palms, his thumbs rolling over the sensitive tips. Sophie let out a soft, breathy groan, her eyelids fluttering closed as she arched her chest into his touch.

”Noah,” she whispered, her hands coming up to grip his forearms, her nails digging in slightly as he squeezed the soft flesh of her breasts.

He leaned down, his mouth replacing his fingers. He caught one of her cherry nipples between his lips, swirling his tongue around the tight nub before sucking it deep into his mouth.

”Ah... mmph,” Sophie whimpered, her fingers shifting from his arms to tangle in his white hair, holding him firmly against her chest. He could hear her heart thrumming a frantic rhythm against her ribs. He switched to the other side, kneading the opposite breast with his hand while his tongue teased and pulled at the sensitive tip until she was trembling against him.

He pulled back, trailing wet kisses down the center of her flat stomach, his hands moving down to the waistband of her skirt and underwear. He caught both fabrics together, sliding them down her hips, over her thighs, and letting her step out of them completely.

Instead of pulling her back into a hug, Noah gripped her hips and gently turned her around so her back was facing him. Sophie let out a small gasp of confusion, her hands reaching out to steady herself against the wall near the window.

Noah dropped to his knees behind her. Her ass was perfectly shaped, round and smooth, catching the ambient amber light from the harbor outside. Without a word, Noah leaned forward and buried his face directly between the cheeks of her ass, his nose brushing against her center while his hands reached around to grip the front of her thighs.

Sophie’s entire body jerked. A deep, dark flush rushed up her back and neck, her face turning red as she looked over her shoulder at him, her eyes wide with sheer shock.

”Noah!” she whimpered, her voice cracking with surprise. ”What are you... when did you become so bold?”

Noah pulled his face back just enough to look up at her, a wicked, confident grin playing on his lips. ”Sophie, I have you and three other incredible women in my harem. Being bold isn’t just a choice anymore, it’s a basic requirement to keep up.”

Sophie let out a choked, half-strangled laugh, her shyness momentarily giving way to the sheer absurdity of his honesty. ”You insufferable idiot,” she muttered, though her hips twitched instinctively toward him.

Noah didn’t let her talk any further. He reached between her legs from behind, his fingers slick with her natural moisture, and found her clit. He gave it a sharp, deliberate flick.

”Ahnn!” Sophie screamed softly, her knees buckling slightly as a powerful shudder ran through her thighs.

Before she could collapse, Noah stood up, caught her waist, and spun her back around to face him. He pulled her into a hard, deep kiss, his tongue invading her mouth, tasting the sweet residue of their shared dessert and the heat of her arousal. Sophie kissed him back fiercely, her hands clawing at his shoulders, fully matching his intensity now.

But just as the heat in the room was reaching a boiling point, Sophie abruptly broke the kiss. She panted for air, a sudden, sultry hunger taking over her features. She looked down at his waist, her tongue darting out to wet her lower lip.

She dropped to her knees right in front of him.

Noah’s breath hitched. Sophie looked up at him through her eyelashes, her eyes dark and heavy with a focus that he usually only saw when she was analyzing a tactical map. She reached for the waistband of his shorts and underwear, tugging them down with a firm, unyielding pull until his cock sprang free, fully erect and throbbing in the dim light.

She wrapped her long fingers around his shaft, starting a slow, deliberate stroke from the base to the glans. Her eyes never left his face, watching his expression for any sign of weakness.

Suddenly, a strange heat began to bloom deep within Noah’s chest, rushing down his arms like liquid fire. A familiar, sharp ringing echoed in his ears, and a glowing blue interface materialized right in front of his eyes, blocking his view of Sophie’s face.

[Dragon’s Lust initiated]

Noah blinked rapidly, a wave of irritation mixing with the overwhelming arousal. ”Not right now,” he said under his breath, forcing his mental intent against the system until the notification shattered and faded into digital dust, leaving only the raw reality of the room.

His hands were burning a faint, low red now, the draconic energy humming just beneath his skin, heightening his senses to a dangerous degree. He could feel every single ridge of her palm against his skin.

Unable to take the agonizingly slow pace she was setting, Noah reached down and tangled his fingers into Sophie’s hair, holding her head steady. His thumb brushed against her jawline, his grip firm but careful.

”Don’t torture me, Sophie,” he rasped, his voice thick with restraint. ”I am right on the edge.”

Sophie looked up at his burning hands, a small, triumphant smile creeping onto her lips. She liked knowing she had this kind of power over him, that the man who fought giants could be brought to his knees by a simple look.

”Okay,” she whispered softly.

She leaned in, her warm breath washing over the sensitive skin of his groin. She didn’t take him in all at once. Instead, she leaned forward and kissed the very tip of his dick, a tentative, wet press of her lips that made Noah’s hips jerk forward instinctively. She let out a low chuckle against his skin, completely aware of what she was doing to him.

Noah lifted her by the armpits, guiding her back onto the plush mattress of the hotel bed. Sophie sprawled out beneath him, her white skin contrasting beautifully with the dark sheets, her cherry nipples dark and prominent, her legs parting naturally to welcome him.

Noah crawled between her thighs, his burning hands pinning her wrists to the bed beside her head. The head of his shaft brushed against her slick, soaking entrance, and they both let out a unified, ragged sigh as the final barrier between them prepared to vanish.
