Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 347: Chapter 337: The Package Has Arrived

No wonder Qiao Jin was obsessed with Zhang Siyang stealing her painting right up until her death. That painting wasn’t just a painting; it was a manifestation of her most painful memories.

She had finally managed to express those memories in her own way, only for someone else to claim them as their own.

If those memories belonged to that person, then what did all the pain she had endured for so many years even mean?

No matter what, she couldn’t make sense of it, and this inability to understand only made Qiao Jin’s suffering worse.

Post-traumatic stress disorder. Tang Mo was certain Qiao Jin had developed this illness after the incident.

The pain was like a cage, trapping her so tightly she couldn’t break free.

Suddenly, Tang Mo felt a flash of inspiration. She now knew what kind of painting she should create with Xiao Jin’s hands this time.

Good things come in pairs. It wasn’t just about preparing her artwork; through constant experimentation, Tang Mo had also gotten the hang of digging the tunnel.

Using spiritual power to form tools was ultimately a bit too slow. In fact, there was a much better way to use spiritual power for digging the tunnel entrance.

And that was to create a Spiritual Power Air Bomb, using an explosion to blast the opening deeper.

Because spiritual power was involved in controlling it, the blast radius could also be much more precise.

After testing the Spiritual Power Air Bomb many times in other locations, Tang Mo finally perfected the method and then delightedly began blasting the tunnel.

’This is so much easier. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?’

If spiritual power could be made into bombs, then its might in long-range attacks had increased by more than just a single level.

Tang Mo even found herself hoping some mutant beasts would appear in this world, giving her a chance to test her new move.

But she wouldn’t have to wait long. Tang Mo’s ”wish” was about to come true.

As the days slipped by, the silhouette of a helicopter once again appeared in the sky, which had been quiet for a long time.

It was flying far too high; the sound of its engines couldn’t possibly reach the ground.

But with over a hundred bored people craning their necks and looking up at the sky in eager anticipation every day, the helicopter was spotted the very moment it appeared.

”Look, a helicopter! Someone must be bringing us food.”

”It must be my parents!”

”No way! I’m the only heir for three generations in my family. It has to be for me.”

The students below began to argue over who the helicopter was for. They hadn’t received anything for so long that they had begun to wonder if their parents had forgotten them.

The appearance of this helicopter reignited hope in everyone.

Hearing the commotion, Tang Mo also looked up at the sky. Sure enough, a helicopter was circling, and it soon dropped several packages.

From that height, and with so few packages, there was no way they could be dropped precisely onto their location on the mountainside.

But nothing was ever absolute. As long as Tang Mo was sitting here, anything was possible.

Soon, just as the packages were about to veer off course and fall to the foot of the mountain, Tang Mo secretly used her spiritual power to nudge them into a new position.

Tang Mo’s spiritual power was golden, which was actually a bit inconvenient. But thankfully, she only used a little, and since no one here knew what spiritual power was, no one grew suspicious.

In truth, even if they had seen the golden spiritual power, it wouldn’t have mattered. After being trapped here for so long, witnessing a miracle was practically everyone’s wish. It wouldn’t have scared them in the slightest.

Finally, thanks to Tang Mo’s efforts, the packages landed exactly where everyone had hoped—right around the house where they were staying on the mountainside.

Everyone stopped painting and ran over to see if the packages were for them.

Zhang Siyang was among the most eager. After all, if these packages were hers, she could drop out of the competition. She couldn’t care less about the tiny portion of food the school doled out to her each meal.

”They’re for Qiao Jin.”

”Qiao Jin? Her family sent her stuff too?”

”No way. You must have read it wrong. Let me see.”

Qiao Jin’s name was written in large characters on the packages, something none of the boys or girls had expected.

’They’re actually for me?’

Tang Mo hadn’t expected the packages to be for her, either. She had only guided them to the mountainside because the food she had collected in the cave below was about to spoil, and any more would have been a waste. She never imagined that she would end up saving her own packages by a stroke of luck.

Tang Mo got up, pushed through the crowd, and walked toward the packages.

Looking at the handwriting, Tang Mo recognized it at once. They were packages sent to Qiao Jin by Mr. Qiao.

”Quick, open them and see if there’s a letter inside.”

Hearing that packages had been dropped outside, the principal, who had been staying in his room, couldn’t sit still any longer. He came out and gathered around the packages to look.

What they needed most right now wasn’t food, but information about the outside world.

What had happened to the outside world? Why had no one come to deliver food? Was anyone coming to rescue them? Had they been abandoned?

These weren’t just the principal’s questions; they were questions that every single person here desperately wanted answered.

Dozens of pairs of eyes stared wide at Tang Mo, their gazes urging her to hurry up and open the packages.

Naturally, Tang Mo was also extremely curious about the outside world, so she didn’t hesitate. She deftly grabbed a rock from the ground and sliced open a package.

Most of it was food, along with a few articles of warm clothing.

After rummaging through the package, Tang Mo found a letter inside.

It was a letter from Mr. Qiao to Qiao Jin.

”My daughter, Xiao Jin: I don’t know how you’re doing after being trapped for so long. Are you okay? Are you eating enough? Have you been taking care of yourself?

The outside world is a bit chaotic right now. Not only are there food shortages, but a kind of man-eating monster has appeared. The original rescue teams had to cancel their missions.

I don’t know if you have these monsters where you are, but you must protect yourself.

Don’t worry. Even if it costs our entire fortune, Dad will find someone to rescue you.

Trust me. We’ll see each other on the outside.”

The letter was short, but it contained a lot of information. After Qiao Jin finished reading, she handed it to the principal.

So, mutant beasts had appeared in this world too...

It was just that they hadn’t reached these deep, isolated mountains yet. The outside world had already descended into chaos.

No wonder helicopters had stopped delivering food. No wonder no one had started working on the other side of the tunnel the principal was digging.

It turned out the outside world had long been unable to even fend for itself.

Tang Mo couldn’t imagine how much effort Qiao Jin’s father must have gone through to get this letter safely into her hands during the most chaotic period of the apocalypse, when mutant beasts had just begun to appear.

But what worried Tang Mo the most was that the letter made no mention of Qiao Jin’s mother at all.

’What happened? Is Qiao Jin’s mother okay?’

’No, I have to resolve things here as quickly as possible and get out.’

’Any later, and it might be too late.’
