Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 306: Chapter 296: The Last Stand

However, Tang Mo soon discovered that while the steel giants might not have brains, they weren’t complete idiots.

After more than half of them had fallen, the remaining steel giants quickly learned to cover the battery ports on the backs of their necks with one hand.

The giants’ hands were also made of steel, which meant smashing the power sources within was no longer a simple matter for Tang Mo.

With her clever trick no longer effective, Tang Mo had no choice but to fight them head-on.

Since she could no longer pry out the batteries, Tang Mo had to find another way.

With steel giants like these, if you couldn’t hit their fatal weakness, the only other option was to disable their legs.

’Disable their legs...’

Tang Mo glanced at the giant’s legs, thicker than her own waist, and sighed to herself.

’Nothing for it. Time to fight.’

’Who was it that just declared to the whole world she’d never give up?’

’Is there a delay on this broadcast? Who’s the Steward of this world? Can someone please delete that part for me?’

Gripping the Heaven-reaching Axe, Tang Mo charged into the midst of the steel giants.

After struggling for so long, Tang Mo’s spiritual power was nearly depleted. She could only fight for a short while before retreating to the house to absorb Crystal Stones and quickly replenish her spiritual power.

Fortunately, since the giants were using one hand to guard their necks, their combat effectiveness was significantly reduced with only one free hand.

Combined with Tang Mo’s agility and quick reflexes, she managed to hold her own.

She was exhausted. Plain and simple.

From the swarms of woven figures to the onslaught of steel giants, not only her spiritual power, but Tang Mo’s physical stamina was also completely drained.

She was running on sheer willpower now. As she looked at the last three or four steel giants before her, Tang Mo’s legs gave out, and she nearly collapsed to her knees.

Sweat streamed down her arm and onto the Heaven-reaching Axe, dripping from the blade to spatter against the ground.

Every viewer watching the screen could feel Tang Mo’s stamina failing.

Seeing Tang Mo stumble, everyone watching felt their hearts tighten.

’Come on, don’t fall. You can’t!’

As if hearing their pleas, Tang Mo pushed herself back to her feet.

’Was that a joke? She wasn’t dead yet. As long as she was still breathing, she could still fight.’

The steel giants were already attacking the protective barrier, now only a hundred meters from the house behind her.

Tang Mo tightened her grip on her axe and charged again. The steel giants’ bodies were incredibly durable; to stop them, she had to destroy one of their legs.

It was a good thing she was wielding the Heaven-reaching Axe, a treasure of the Xing Clan. An ordinary axe would have been destroyed long ago, let alone being able to hack off one of their legs.

This time, however, the prolonged battle of attrition had clearly taken its toll. Tang Mo was now at a disadvantage against the steel giants.

Her sluggish movements caused her to be too slow to dodge after an attack, and a giant’s arm slammed viciously into her back.

Such Strength was more than a body of flesh and blood could withstand. She was smashed to the ground, and for a few seconds, she couldn’t even process what happened.

Fortunately, Tang Mo’s reflexes were still sharp. Realizing she couldn’t get up, she immediately used her spiritual power to form a cloud, lifting herself into the air out of the steel giant’s reach.

After swiping at her a few times and realizing it could do nothing to its recent foe, the steel giant turned its attention back to the protective barrier.

After all, their ultimate goal was to destroy the house and whatever was inside it.

Seeing the three remaining steel giants continue their advance, Tang Mo gritted her teeth and tried to steady herself in the air.

’Still can’t get up...’

It didn’t matter. Even one giant, let alone three, could easily destroy the house and end the Life of Mr. Hu, Bo Niou, and Mumu.

But she was truly powerless now. All Tang Mo could do was frantically absorb Crystal Stones while reinforcing the protective barrier, hoping it would hold on for just a little longer.

’Almost there. Just a little longer. Only ten minutes left.’

Tang Mo looked at the time on her ID Watch. It was ten minutes to eight. She just had to hold on for ten more minutes. But with her current stamina and spiritual power, even five minutes would be a struggle. She really couldn’t last much longer.

The three steel giants continued their assault on the spiritual power barrier, while every viewer watching the screen had their eyes glued to the time.

Less than ten minutes until eight o’clock. At that point, their votes would take effect!

They were powerless to help the girl in her fight, but the votes they held were like weapons—the only way they could express their support and take a stand.

”Don’t touch them!”

Just as everyone watched, thinking the giant was about to shatter the protective barrier, a boy’s voice cried out from behind it.

Tang Mo looked toward the sound. It was Xiao Fei.

”I won’t let you touch them!”

Xiao Fei was panting heavily, bent over with his hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath.

He had been worried ever since Tang Mo and Mr. Hu left with Bo Niou. The longer he worried, the more regret filled his heart.

’I should have stayed by Bo Niou’s side.’

’I might not have been much help, but Bo Niou is clearly in danger now. How could I just entrust his life to others while I hide away in the villa?’

’Even if it meant facing danger, I should have been there with him!’

But by then, it was too late for regret. He had no idea where Tang Mo and Mr. Hu had gone.

Until the system’s live broadcast began.

He saw Sister Tang Mo on the broadcast, saw the house behind her, and even saw Bo Niou’s big, dopey-looking head in the window, gazing into the distance as if searching for something.

He knew Bo Niou had to be looking for him.

’Bo Niou must be terrified right now. I have to go be with him.’

Xiao Fei quickly used the system’s network to find the location of the house from the broadcast, but it was incredibly far away.

There were vehicles in this world, but they were all operated by the woven figures. And since all the woven figures had gone to Tang Mo’s location, Xiao Fei couldn’t find a single vehicle to take him there.

Cars couldn’t be delivered directly through the room’s pipe system, so Xiao Fei bought an assembly-required bicycle from the system. After putting it together, he started pedaling for all he was worth.

In his haste and over the long distance, the bicycle broke down before he reached his destination.

With no other choice, Xiao Fei had to run the rest of the way. He ran faster than he ever had in his life.

He had set out the moment he saw the broadcast, but even so, he had only just arrived.

But he wasn’t too late.
