I Can Stock Up in the Game

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Need a Bang

As he saw Wei Yuan and Lin Mengxi off, Zhang Lin exchanged contact information and added them on WeChat. Afterwards, he headed to the lounge to check on blueberry sales.

The tourists who bought blueberries would eat them right there in the lounge, which in turn encouraged other visitors coming in to buy some as well.

And as for the price? Considering the blueberries’ three special attributes, no one who tasted the samples thought they were expensive.

At this rate, the farm would have no trouble selling all 500 jin of blueberries today.

Afterwards, Zhang Lin went out to the fields.

After they finished planting the rapeseed Flower Sea, Liu De had led a team to clear a large new area of land. Now that they had the fast-growing, white-fleshed small sweet potato seedlings, they could plant them directly in these prepared fields.

By the time he arrived, a large patch of the white-fleshed sweet potato seedlings had already been planted. The farmhands were working their tails off, clearly not slacking in the slightest.

The farmhands hired through the game worked with a vengeance, almost as if they’d bury you in the dirt if you tried to stop them from farming.

So, paying them 7,500 yuan a month was an absolute bargain.

At noon, after finishing his lunch, Zhang Lin tallied the day’s visitor numbers.

In the morning alone, they had received 352 guests, bringing in 17,600 yuan from ticket sales. The restaurant had served 32 tables, with a profit of 11,264 yuan.

This was more than double yesterday morning’s numbers.

Moreover, according to the ticket information compiled by Mucheng, 30% of the visitors were from outside You City.

This was great news!

As their online traffic exploded, the number of visitors would continue to surge, and the proportion of out-of-town tourists would only climb higher.

After finishing lunch at the farm’s restaurant, Zhang Lin remembered his promise regarding Fu Yao. He opened her WeChat and sent a message: ”Hey, there’s something I need to talk to you about!”

He had promised Wei Yuan and Lin Mengxi that he would ask her.

By now, classes at You City No.1 Middle School had ended for the day. As Fu Yao walked out of the school gates, she drew quite a few stares. In an age where everyone was on Tiao Yin, many students at her school had come across videos of the rapeseed Flower Sea and, by extension, her.

They were curious about their school’s new minor internet celebrity, and naturally, a little envious.

Several boys had already gathered around Fu Yao, all clearly trying to get her attention.

”Fu Yao, you looked so beautiful in that video.”

”Yeah! We should all go to the rapeseed Flower Sea this weekend!”

”Fu Yao, why did you give the snacks I bought you to Lin Lulu?”

The teenage boys, bursting with hormones, subconsciously wanted to get closer to their classmate who had suddenly become famous online.

”I don’t have time, I have to study. And stop following me!” Fu Yao didn’t give the boys the time of day. ’A bunch of immature kids. We’re not even on the same wavelength.’

She was actually quite vexed. Ever since ”Uncle’s” promotional video went viral, the number of boys fawning over her—not just in her class, but in her entire grade—had suddenly skyrocketed. And their methods were just so childish.

’Why would a boy crouch near the school gate, just waiting for her to appear, only to rush up and pretend it was a coincidence?’

’Those are such tired old tricks from the internet.’

Just then, Fu Yao noticed she had a new WeChat message. When she saw it was from ”Uncle,” a smile touched her lips. Compared to the childish boys at school, chatting with him was so much more relaxing.

After reading his message, she smiled and replied, ”What’s the situation this time, Uncle? You don’t need me to be your human shield again, do you?”

Seeing her reply, Zhang Lin got straight to the point: ”The Agriculture Bureau is collaborating with my farm. They want to leverage our current popularity to promote You City’s Furong Plums and blueberries. They’re planning a ’Support the Farmers’ sales livestream and were hoping to invite you to help film some promotional material in the next few days. If you’re up for it, they’d love for you to make an appearance during the livestream, since you’re so popular right now.”

Fu Yao was a little surprised by the message. She never expected the Agriculture Bureau to approach her for something like this.

Besides, it sounded like a rare and interesting life experience. She was happy to help.

So she replied, ”Uncle, I have no problem helping out, but I have school, so I might not have much time!”

Zhang Lin saw her concern and replied, ”The Agriculture Bureau said they’ll coordinate with your school. It would only take up your evening self-study time.”

”Then it’s no problem at all.” Fu Yao sent her reply along with a sweet smiling emoji.

’Ever since I met Uncle,’ she thought, ’life has become so much more interesting.’

’Before, my life was just school and home. Now, I’ve been a model, and I get to experience something new like this. It’s all great for broadening my horizons and getting some real-world experience.’

Next, she opened a family WeChat group. Even though she had already agreed, she still needed to tell her family about it.

This particular family group chat only had three people: her, her father, and Lin Xin.

Of course, there was another family group chat just like it, that one with her, her mother, and Lin Xin.

”Just a heads-up: the Agriculture Bureau is doing a ’Support the Farmers’ livestream with Li Yuan Farm. Since I helped Li Yuan Farm with a promo video before, the bureau asked for my help too. I already agreed, so don’t be surprised if you see me online.”

She sent it as a simple announcement.

After all, she had started making decisions for herself a long time ago. Her mother had remarried and lived in Ming City, and her father was always busy on construction sites and didn’t have much time for her.

Her Father: ”Hold on, let me ask my old classmate who works at the Agriculture Bureau.”

Fu Yao saw the reply and didn’t say anything else. She knew her father had a friend from his school days at the Agriculture Bureau.

A moment later, another message from her father appeared: ”Do a good job. If this goes well, you could even come back to You City after college and take the civil service exam. With this connection, I can help pull some strings for you!”

”Fu Yao, why does all the good stuff happen to you?” Lin Xin’s envious message popped up. ”I want to take the civil service exam too. Finding a job in a big city is exhausting, and switching jobs feels like it takes a year off my life!”

Fu Yao saw her sister’s message and simply ignored it.

’She started dating in high school, her grades slipped, and she didn’t get into a good program in college. Who’s to blame for that now?’

’It was strange, actually. In her memory, her sister had always had high standards. She had no idea how she got duped into a high school romance. That boy must have been something special.’

’If it were her, she’d just find boys her age to be so immature.’

...

「Li Yuan Farm.」

After coordinating with Fu Yao, Zhang Lin sent a message to Wei Yuan: ”Director Wei, Fu Yao is on board. She can help with the promotion, but you’ll need to handle the communication with her school.”

Meanwhile, Wei Yuan and Lin Mengxi were in a conference room at the Agriculture Bureau, meeting with several fruit growers.

Now that things were settled with Boss Zhang of Li Yuan Farm, they needed to brief the fruit growers. They also had to arrange for a batch of both fruits to be sent to Li Yuan Farm that afternoon.

Seeing Zhang Lin’s message, a delighted Wei Yuan replied, ”Don’t worry, Boss Zhang. I know the principal of You City No.1 Middle School. I’ll give him a call right now.”

True to his word, he picked up his phone and made the call immediately.

Zhang Lin felt relieved after seeing the reply. He then took out his own phone and looked through the videos he had previously shot with Fu Yao.

The first video had been up for a while and was gaining traction; it was time to post the second one.

He selected a video of Fu Yao in the rapeseed Flower Sea, her head turned slightly to the side as she smiled and admired the blossoms.

Her smile, combined with her slight profile against the backdrop of the ”View +1” rapeseed Flower Sea, created a truly captivating scene.

After uploading the video, he immediately poured more money into DOU+ promotions—20,000 yuan in total.

Thanks to the initial buzz and the videos uploaded by visitors, Li Yuan Farm’s popularity was already soaring. Its first video was approaching 700,000 likes, and the account had surpassed 150,000 followers.

This was the perfect time to strike while the iron was hot.

If he kept this up for a few days and managed to create a viral moment, he might just be able to completely blow up the traffic pool.

As for the benefits of that? He just had to think of Guo Youcai, who recently blew up the traffic pool once and gained 15 million followers overnight.

The problem was, these viral moments were hard to come by. If you tried to manufacture one, there were too many potential pitfalls. If it got debunked, the backlash wouldn’t be worth the effort.

So, he needed to think carefully about how to create a genuine viral moment.

Thanks to the existing buzz and the 20,000 yuan in DOU+ promotions, Zhang Lin’s second video hit the trending page in less than half an hour.

Just then, he received an unexpected phone call.

It was from Mr. Chen, Chen Shengfei. ’He was just here yesterday,’ Zhang Lin thought. ’Don’t tell me he’s already so captivated by the farm that he wants to come back again?’
