I Can Stock Up in the Game

Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Can’t Accomplish Anything in Less Than a Month?

”Lin, are you telling the truth?” Lin Yan asked, still finding it hard to believe.

”Mom, would I lie to you?” Zhang Lin smiled and used his tried-and-true method: he pulled up his account balance and showed it to her.

When Lin Yan saw the balance, she still couldn’t quite believe it, even after confirming the amount. ”Lin, is the wholesale fruit business really this profitable?”

Anyone in her shoes would have felt the same sense of unreality.

After all, how long had it been since her son took over the farm? All told, it hadn’t even been a month.

For a normal person, earning 20,000 yuan a month was already incredible—that would make them a top performer.

But now, in less than a month, her son could already pay back the more than 600,000 yuan they owed their relatives.

Zhang Lin said with a laugh, ”Mom, of course not everyone can make this much money wholesaling fruit. It’s because your son is so capable that I’m earning a lot.”

Hearing this, Lin Yan finally felt a wave of relief.

’That’s right. If my son wasn’t capable, how could he have paid off all this debt in such a short time?’

”In that case, I’ll call your uncle and his family and invite them to the farm tomorrow.” As she spoke, Lin Yan had already taken out her phone and started looking for the number.

A moment later, she made the first call. ”Big Brother, Lin has built a service center over at the farm, and it has a restaurant. He’s inviting your family over for lunch tomorrow to check it out...”

”...He has a wealthy classmate who invested in him... And about the money we owe you, Lin says he wants to pay you back first...”

The more she spoke, the more pride she felt, her face beaming with a smile.

Seeing this, a smile also touched the corners of Zhang Lin’s lips.

’Only when Mom is this happy and relaxed can her health truly improve. Then she won’t have to keep going to the hospital for IV drips.’

As the saying goes, many illnesses are born from a troubled mind. When your mood improves, many ailments disappear along with it.

That’s why carefree people often live longer than those who worry about everything.

He genuinely hoped his mother’s health would recover quickly. Otherwise, if something were to happen to her, he would be truly all alone.

After hanging up with his uncle, Zhang He, Lin Yan continued making calls, her face still wreathed in smiles.

Seeing this, Zhang Lin went to the bathroom, planning to take a shower first.

...

「The next morning」

After getting the wholesale fruit delivery out of the way, Zhang Lin washed up and came out to find his mom had made breakfast as usual. The difference was, she had clearly taken great care in dressing up today, treating it as a very important occasion.

”Lin, hurry up and eat breakfast,” Lin Yan called out as soon as she saw him. ”After you’re done, take me over to the farm. I want to see if there’s anything I can help with.”

Zhang Lin smiled and said, ”Mom, the farm has hired a lot more staff, and they’re handling everything. Why don’t you come with me to the market to buy groceries instead?”

”Today is the kitchen’s opening ceremony. We’re not just hosting Uncle and his family; we’re also treating all the employees to a meal in the restaurant for good luck.”

”So, we need to buy a lot of food today. You can give me some pointers!”

He knew that his mom just wanted to feel involved; what she actually did wasn’t important.

It was a common feeling among the older generation—the fear of one day suddenly no longer being needed by their children.

”Okay, let’s go together in a bit. When it comes to grocery shopping, your mother is much better at it than you are!” A happy smile spread across Lin Yan’s face.

After breakfast, Zhang Lin took his mom to the market to start shopping. Because they were buying a large quantity, he even rented a cart. When they had bought most of what they needed, he called Liu De, the driver who delivered his fruit, to come pick up the groceries and transport them back.

Then, Zhang Lin took his mom to the farm.

Even though Lin Yan had heard about it from her son, she was still stunned when she arrived at the farm and saw the changes for herself, especially the completed service center.

She was particularly moved seeing the thirty-plus employees bustling about. ’If her husband could see this, he would be so proud, wouldn’t he?’

Time passed. As the sun climbed higher, noon drew ever closer.

Zhang Zhao left the police station, said goodbye to his colleagues, and hurried home on his bike, riding with more urgency than usual.

His cousin, Zhang Lin, was hosting their family at the farm today, and he didn’t want to be too late.

When he got home, Zhang Zhao saw his parents already waiting downstairs with their car parked nearby.

”Hurry and get in,” Zhang He said, ushering his son over. Once the family was in the car, he started it and headed toward Zhang Lin’s farm.

They drove out of the county town and onto the national highway.

Zhang He had visited the farm with his younger brother before he passed away, so he still knew the way. As they drove on, they soon saw colorful guide flags. The words ”Li Yuan Farm” were clearly visible on them.

Seeing this, Zhang Zhao said in surprise, ”Lin’s setup on the outside looks pretty impressive. I wonder what it’s like inside. Auntie said Lin even built a service center and that we’re having lunch in its restaurant.”

But Zhang He frowned slightly. ”Lin’s only been in charge of the farm for less than a month, right?”

”Yeah, not even a month!” Zhang Zhao nodded.

Zhang He sighed. ”In such a short time, what do you think he could have possibly accomplished?”

”True, that’s not even enough time to build a service center.” Zhang Zhao nodded at first, but then he realized something was off. ”But wait, didn’t Auntie say Zhang Lin was going to pay back the money?”

Zhang He’s frown deepened. ”Your auntie said a classmate invested in Lin, but isn’t he just being reckless? He hasn’t even gotten anything off the ground yet, so why is he in such a hurry to pay back the money? It’s not like we’re pressuring him!”

Zhang Zhao nodded. ”You’re right. The money should be spent where it’s needed most. We should have a good talk with Lin later and advise him.”

”We definitely need to advise him. When someone invests in you, you can’t betray their trust.” Just as Zhang He was speaking, he suddenly froze. After they passed the guide flags, a promotional poster miraculously came into view.

It seemed to be an advertisement for a canola flower sea, and the photo alone was stunningly beautiful and artistic.

”It’s so beautiful!” Zhang Yan, who had been quiet while her husband and son were talking, couldn’t help but exclaim.

”Yeah!” Zhang Zhao subconsciously agreed with his mom, because it truly was beautiful.

Then, he noticed three people standing under the poster, and he recognized them. It was Zhang Dong and his parents.

Zhang He saw them too and pulled the car over next to them. ”Ergen, Ergen’s wife, Zhang Dong, you’re here already?” he greeted.

Zhang Ergen immediately walked up with a smile. ”Zhang He, your nephew Zhang Lin is incredible! He’s created a canola flower sea, apparently 500 mu large. That’s what’s in this poster!”

Zhang He stared at the poster, his mouth hanging open in astonishment. After all, who would have thought that Lin could create such a Flower Sea on the farm in such a short time?

Just looking at the promotional poster, it was already unbelievable.

This made him anxious to see more. He quickly said his goodbyes to Zhang Ergen, restarted the car, and drove onto the farm proper.

He was now desperate to see what it was like inside.

As he drove on, it was clear the roadsides had been tidied up; weeds and the like had all been cleared away. Soon, a very large parking lot appeared before them.

Zhang He drove straight in and parked the car.

The moment the three of them got out of the car, the first thing they saw was the service center with its distinct architectural style. Covering two mu, it was by no means small.

”This is the service center Zhang Lin built?” Zhang He was utterly astonished.

”Lin is incredible, isn’t he? In less than a month... this must have cost a lot of money, right?” Zhang Zhao had also assumed Zhang Lin couldn’t have accomplished much in such a short time, but the reality was truly surprising.

”Look over there! It really is a Flower Sea!” Zhang Yan said, pointing into the distance.

Zhang Lin had deliberately chosen this location for the parking lot. The first thing visitors would see upon getting out of their cars was the distant canola Flower Sea, and that vast expanse of gold would be their first pleasant surprise.

Moreover, its hazy appearance from afar would heighten the visitors’ anticipation.

Zhang He and Zhang Zhao followed her gaze and also saw the Flower Sea. The endless ocean of golden flowers was already a breathtaking sight. ℴ

Zhang Zhao blurted out, ”Dad, didn’t you say Zhang Lin couldn’t accomplish much?”

Zhang He, however, asked with a look of confusion, ”What? Did I say that? I said Lin is very capable. If you don’t believe me, ask your mother!”

”Mhm, that’s right!” Zhang Yan nodded with a bright smile. Her husband doted on her so much; in a situation like this, of course she would side with him. Her son, on the other hand, would one day belong to his wife.

”???” Zhang Zhao was dumbfounded.

’What the hell? Does that mean I misheard him?’
