I Can Stock Up in the Game

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: The Use of Rapeseed Flowers! This Is Too Fast

When Zhang Lin saw the description for the special fast-growing rapeseed flower seeds, he finally understood why they were ten times more expensive than the real-world version.

The single attribute of ’extremely fast growth before flowering’ was impressive enough on its own.

Growing agricultural products requires a daily expenditure of manpower and resources.

Faster growth meant a shorter time to harvest, which in turn meant saving time and effort.

’I just wonder exactly how fast these rapeseed flowers grow.’

Looking at the other two attributes, he felt this item could create immense value.

Take, for example, the attributes after flowering: Visual Appeal +1 and Photogenic +1.

It immediately made him think of a rapeseed Flower Sea.

After all, rapeseed Flower Seas were one of the four most popular types of flower fields trending online.

During rapeseed flower season, many tourists and even influencers would flock to these Flower Seas to ”check in” and shoot videos.

With enough visitors, he could make a fortune from ticket sales alone.

These special fast-growing rapeseed seeds had a Visual Appeal +1 effect, making them guaranteed to be more beautiful and eye-catching than normal ones. This meant they were perfect for creating a Flower Sea. Furthermore, they had a Photogenic +1 effect, which he figured would make them look incredible in photos and videos.

These Visual Appeal +1 and Photogenic +1 attributes were a perfect match for a rapeseed Flower Sea.

Then there was the skin-moisturizing effect of the rapeseed oil produced after the flowers went to seed.

If he used it to make a moisturizing cream or oil, it would surely be a massive hit with countless women.

It was a single product with two uses, allowing him to profit twice.

So, while it couldn’t generate short-term profits like wholesaling peaches, it was definitely an excellent long-term investment. Crucially, it was all out in the open, so there were no hidden risks or concerns.

This was definitely worth planting.

While Zhang Lin was thinking, Liu De returned, driving the tracked tiller. Lin Dawei and Lin Dayou were standing on its frame, hitching a ride.

It was already high noon, time for lunch and then a midday break.

Zhang Lin gave Liu De an order: ”Liu De, after lunch, during the break, take Lin Dawei and Lin Dayou to sort out their rooms. Get them some daily necessities.”

”Yes, Boss!” Liu De replied immediately after hopping off the tiller, then led Lin Dawei and Lin Dayou to get busy in the makeshift kitchen.

Soon, a simple meal was ready.

”Boss, time to eat!” Liu De called out to Zhang Lin very respectfully.

It was the first time Zhang Lin had eaten a meal cooked by his game employees.

It was a simple, construction-site-style meal, but it wasn’t bad. In fact, it gave him a rather strange feeling.

Watching the three of them wolf down their food after a hard morning’s work, they looked exactly like real farmhands!

If an outsider saw this, they would never guess that the three of them weren’t real people but were actually recruited and manifested from a game.

After lunch, Liu De took Lin Dawei and Lin Dayou to tidy up their rooms, giving each of them a set of the pillows, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other items he had bought earlier.

Seeing this, Zhang Lin went back to the prefab office, sat down at his computer, and pulled up a layout map of the farm.

Now that he had the idea for a rapeseed Flower Sea, he naturally needed to make a proper plan.

However, to create a rapeseed Flower Sea, he would have to designate a new location. At the very least, he couldn’t start planting right next to the prefab office and warehouse area.

After all, this was where he wholesaled items from the game and shipped them out.

Moreover, a Flower Sea needed convenient transportation access and a vast, flat area for planting to create a spectacular effect.

After reviewing the entire 2,000-acre area, Zhang Lin found a suitable spot in the eastern corner, about 500 acres in size. Not only was it flat and vast, but it was also close to a road for easy access and a good distance from the prefab office and warehouse. It was perfect.

Zhang Lin marked the area with his mouse. The development of the Flower Sea would begin here.

Once he finished his plan, he turned to the game in his mind and purchased the remaining nine pounds of special fast-growing rapeseed flower seeds.

Just then, he heard a stir outside. Liu De and the other two were coming out after their break.

He checked the time. ’The employees recruited from the game are really conscientious.’

Zhang Lin walked to the door and called out to the three of them, ”Liu De, you guys come in for a second. I have a job for you!”

The three men immediately entered the prefab office.

Liu De asked respectfully, ”Boss, what are your orders?”

”Come over to the computer!” Zhang Lin beckoned them over, opened the 2,000-acre farm map, and pointed to the area he had marked. ”From now on, you’ll be developing this section of land. I’m going to plant rapeseed flowers here!”

”Understood, Boss!” Liu De nodded immediately. He walked out of the prefab office, started the tiller, and headed toward the designated area. Lin Dawei and Lin Dayou shouldered their hoes and other tools, once again climbing onto the tiller’s frame to hitch a ride.

Zhang Lin also walked to the warehouse, took out the ten pounds of rapeseed flower seeds, placed them on his scooter, and headed for the area.

Fortunately, the land his father had rented was generally flat, without any major dips or ridges, so the vehicles could reach everywhere smoothly. Otherwise, it would have been much more troublesome.

Zhang Lin quickly caught up with Liu De and the others.

Once the group arrived at the designated area, Liu De started tilling the land with the cultivator.

Zhang Lin took out the rapeseed flower seeds and gave them to Lin Dawei and Lin Dayou, who began to plant them in coordination.

As for himself, he assigned himself to the supervisory role—no manual labor, just moral support!

Over the course of the afternoon, the area of developed farmland slowly increased. By nightfall, the developed land had expanded from 10 acres to 20 acres.

That afternoon, Liu De’s team planted a total of 10 acres with rapeseed flower seeds.

Of the ten pounds of seeds he had bought, five pounds were used.

In other words, one pound of seeds could plant two acres of land.

That night, Zhang Lin finally returned home.

After a refreshing shower and a change of clothes, he went back to his room and found a WeChat message from a high school classmate named Huang Bin: ”Zhang Lin, you there? Are you free anytime soon? A few of us have been in touch and are planning to organize a class reunion!”

”No time!” Zhang Lin replied directly.

’A damn class reunion? In this day and age, you couldn’t pay me to go!’

For the older generation, relationships between classmates were simpler and more sincere, so reunions could actually be a good way to socialize.

But for his generation, those relationships had long since soured. A reunion was just an occasion where you either ended up one-upping others or feeling miserable yourself.

It was all just about one-upmanship anyway.

When he saw another message come in trying to persuade him, Zhang Lin just ignored it.

Now that he had the game system, all he wanted to do was make money and build his business. He had no time to play these childish games where people hate you if you have something, laugh if you have nothing, look down on you for being poor, and fear you for being rich.

...

Early the next morning, the first thing Zhang Lin did upon waking was check the game screen in his mind.

The 1,000 pounds of peaches (Quality 1) had refreshed.

The 10 pounds of special fast-growing rapeseed flower seeds had also refreshed.

He bought both items. The wholesale peaches cost 4,000 yuan, and the 10 pounds of rapeseed flower seeds cost 2,500 yuan, for a total of 6,500 yuan.

Following the two game materialization prompts, he opened his game inventory to check:

1. Special Fast-Growing Rapeseed Flower Seeds (Quality 1): 10 pounds

2. Peaches (Quality 1): 1,000 pounds

As Zhang Lin stepped out of his room, Lin Yan called out to him, ”Lin, come eat these two eggs to build up your strength!”

”Thanks, Mom!” Zhang Lin didn’t actually like boiled eggs, but he ate them quickly without complaint.

He knew his mother wasn’t in good health and was constantly blaming herself for not being able to help him, instead leaving him saddled with debt.

Making him meals and waking up early to boil eggs for him was the only way she felt she could contribute.

He couldn’t let her feel like this gesture was insignificant.

’It doesn’t matter whether I like them or not. What’s most important is that Mom is happy. Her health will only improve if she’s in a good mood.’

After quickly finishing his breakfast, Zhang Lin headed to the farm. As soon as he arrived, he saw that Liu De and the other two had already conscientiously loaded 500 pounds of peaches onto the truck.

”Boss, I’m heading out to make the delivery!” Liu De called out before getting in the truck and driving away with the peaches.

Zhang Lin, meanwhile, rode his scooter to the 10-acre field where they had planted rapeseed yesterday.

When he got there and saw the state of the field, a look of utter astonishment appeared on his face.

”Holy shit, that’s fast!”
