Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Cui Que was concise. “Here’s the situation. Cyan Bee heard that you’re Su Zhi and wants to spar with your Pet Beasts. Is now a good time?”

Su Zhi: “Huh?”

“CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP!” Cyan Bee flew circles around Su Zhi, her eyes blinking rapidly, looking extremely excited. Combined with her cute appearance, Su Zhi almost didn’t have the heart to refuse…

‘Uh, hang on, is this really Cui Que’s Pet Beast?’

‘Isn’t this personality a little too different from hers?’

Cui Que looked at him. “I would actually recommend you refuse. You and your Pet Beasts were just rescued. Although you aren’t seriously injured, you must be mentally and physically exhausted. It’s not a good time for a Pet Beast Battle.”

“Chirp…” Cyan Bee nuzzled pitifully against Cui Que.

“Chirping won’t work either.” Cui Que expressionlessly grabbed Cyan Bee, viciously ruffled the fluff on her head, and then tossed her aside.

Cyan Bee fluttered about wildly in protest for a moment, but seeing Cui Que’s resolute attitude, she dejectedly returned to her spot on her owner’s shoulder.

“Then… let’s battle another day.” Su Zhi seized the opportunity to back down.

Although he encouraged his three treasures to proactively challenge the strong, the gap in level this time was a bit too wide.

Don’t be fooled by Cyan Bee’s small size; she was a proper Four-star Pet Beast. Even if she held back and didn’t go all out, she could still easily handle his three treasures.

“Good.” Cui Que’s brow smoothed, her expression visibly relaxing.

Her workload had become immense since becoming an Alliance Leader, and she’d been working around the clock for days. In truth, she didn’t enjoy sparring; she could get so much work done in that time.

‘Looks like Su Zhi is a sensible person…’

“A spar? I think that’s an excellent idea.”

An old voice suddenly came from outside the tent. Cui Que trembled and blinked in confusion.

Everyone turned to see Shen Zechuan walk into the tent, smiling at them.

Cui Que froze. “Grand, Grand Alliance Leader? What are you doing here?”

“I came to see my grand-niece… ahem.”

Shen Zechuan looked a bit awkward and quickly changed the subject.

“But let’s get back on topic. Since you two intend to spar, let us all bear witness. A rising star challenging an established master—this is how the Beast Taming Dao is passed down. I am most gratified to see your enthusiasm.”

Cyan Bee’s eyes lit up, and she excitedly flapped her wings.

Cui Que, however, hastily waved her hands. “But Grand Alliance Leader, Su Zhi just escaped a dangerous situation. Now might not be the best time for a Pet Beast Battle.”

‘Besides, who cares if it’s a good time for him or not?’

‘The point is, I want to finish my work and go home!’

“Is that so? That is indeed something to consider…”

Shen Zechuan looked at Luo Sen. “What is the physical condition of Su Zhi’s Envoy’s Pets?”

Luo Sen tucked his hands into his sleeves. “Surprisingly good. It’s as if they’ve been perfectly maintained.”

Shen Zechuan beamed. “Then there’s nothing to worry about!”

Cui Que opened her mouth, but no words came out.

Su Zhi quickly raised his hand. “But Your Excellency, Grand Alliance Leader, Senior Cui Que’s Pet Beast is Four-star. Even if my Pet Beasts are in good condition, I’m afraid they don’t stand a chance…”

A glimmer of hope returned to Cui Que’s eyes.

‘Yes, hurry up and explain it to him! Anything to get out of this spar!’

Shen Zechuan smiled and patted Su Zhi’s shoulder.

“There are ways to conduct an uneven spar. How about this: you win if you can simply last for a certain amount of time. And we’ll also place restrictions on the Skills Cyan Bee can use. This will be good training for you to learn how to protect yourself against an opponent far stronger than you. Alliance Leader Luo Sen, what do you think?”

Luo Sen, still with his hands tucked, replied, “From a technical standpoint, there’s no problem.”

Su Zhi tried to struggle one last time. “We’ve just had an earthquake. Disaster relief should be the priority. Let me do my part! We can spar another d—”

Luo Sen: “I don’t think you have a concept of the Flying Shadow Alliance’s efficiency. You were the last person we rescued.”

Su Zhi: “…”

Shen Zechuan: “Any other problems, Su Zhi?”

Su Zhi: “N-No.”

“…” Cui Que facepalmed.

‘I’m so tired. Let the world burn.’

One minute later, the group gathered in an empty space outside the tent.

Su Zhi and Cui Que stood on opposite sides, their Pet Beasts at the ready.

After some discussion, Shen Zechuan finalized the rules for them: there would be a one-minute time limit. Su Zhi could choose to send his Pet Beasts out one by one or all at once. After one minute, if Su Zhi had any Pet Beasts that hadn’t been knocked out, he would win. Otherwise, Cui Que would win.

The disaster relief effort was winding down, and since it was late at night, a crowd of Alliance Members who had just rotated off their shifts to rest quickly gathered around the makeshift arena.

“Is Alliance Leader Cui Que about to spar with someone? That’s a rare sight. Who’s her opponent?”

“You don’t even know Su Zhi? He was at the summer camp. Captain Sai dotes on him.”

“Now that you mention it, I remember! His Yu Dian Farm Dog’s Skills had a really fresh feel to them!”

“Holy crap, what is this, a dream crossover?”

The moment the spectating Alliance Members saw the color of Su Zhi’s Beast Taming Light Array, the crowd erupted.

Deep blue—Tier Five!

Many of them had only just reached Tier Five, yet this kid, who looked to be high school-aged, had already reached it!

No wonder Selena doted on him. Anyone would treat such a treasure with the greatest care!

Shen Chuqing, who had come to watch, was dumbfounded. ‘What on earth did Su Zhi go through while he was buried…?’

She had been proud of having a Tier Four Beast Taming Space herself. Now, Su Zhi had effortlessly surpassed her, leaving a sour taste in her mouth.

A competitive fire ignited within her, and Shen Chuqing clenched her fists.

‘Don’t get cocky! I’ll see you at the nationals!’

Avoiding Shen Zechuan’s gaze, Shen Chuqing picked a good spot to sit down and watch the battle.

On the other side of the crowd, Gou Yu also had mixed feelings.

“What are your thoughts?” Shen Zechuan asked with a smile, patting his shoulder.

Gou Yu hung his head, suddenly growing dejected.

‘Su Zhi already has a Tier Five Beast Taming Space, while he’s still stuck at Tier Four. He’s probably the only Vice Alliance Leader in the entire Common Defense Alliance who can’t defeat Su Zhi now.’
