Chapter 546: Chapter 228: Scenes of Carnage!

Yan State, Northern Frontier!

A place that was once fairly affluent.

Now it’s filled with refugees everywhere.

The roads are crowded with fleeing people.

Men and women, young and old, dragging along their families.

They didn’t even have time to bring much belongings, only focusing on escaping south.

In just over a month.

The Northern Frontier of Yan State has already lost over a dozen cities to the foreign tribes, who kill anyone they see, and violate women, like beasts.

The entire Northern Frontier of Yan seems to be in a state of migration, seeking the vitality of shelter to the south.

Since the King of Yan ordered the retreat of the Northern Frontier’s border army, there were less than ten thousand soldiers left in the Northern Frontier’s dozens of cities, almost only the prefecture soldiers maintaining order, how could they withstand two hundred thousand foreign tribes?

Even if the foreign tribes are not good at siege warfare, they have the absolute manpower advantage.

For the common people, other than escaping, those with courage would fight the foreign tribes, but such fights ultimately lead to death.

”Hurry up, the foreign tribes are right behind us, if they catch us, we’re finished.”

”Run... run...”

Countless people of Yan State migrated southward, their steps hurried, though some young children and elderly fell behind.

Suffering overshadowed everything.

At this point!

As the refugees continued fleeing south.

Ahead.

A rumbling thunderous sound.

The whole ground seemed to be uplifted.

Many people looked ahead in horror, and instantly were engulfed in boundless fear.

”Not good, there’s a foreign army ahead.”

”It’s over, we’re surrounded by the foreign tribes.”

”Foreign tribes...”

Endless cries of despair echoed from the terrified people.

They didn’t dare continue fleeing, instead, they stopped in their tracks.

At that moment!

The people in the rear cried out in fear: ”Run, the foreign tribes are catching up.”

”So many cavalry from the foreign tribes.”

”They’re catching up, run!”

People in the back ran for their lives.

But for them at this moment, it was a dilemma with wolves in front and tigers behind.

As they drew nearer to the military units to the south.

In their view.

Hundreds of black flags fluttered in the air.

One glance.

The character ”Qin” could be clearly seen.

”Ahead is not the foreign army, it’s the Qin army.”

”What do we do?”

”The Qin State is attacking our Yan State, will they kill us?”

”There are foreign tribes behind and the Qin army ahead, heavens, is this really the end for us?”

...

For the people of Yan State, seeing the Qin army didn’t bring much joy because the Qin army was attacking their Yan State, making them enemies as well.

The foreign tribes slaughtered them.

But under the Yan State court’s propaganda, the reputation of the Qin army was no better than that of the foreign tribes.

To incite the whole nation to fight against Qin, the King of Yan naturally made the court portray the Qin army as ravenous wolves.

However!

Just as the countless people of Yan State were terrified and at a loss.

A thousand cavalry suddenly charged out of the Qin army’s formation like a heavenly covering off in the distance.

Rapidly approaching the civilians.

”It’s over.”

”The Qin army is coming to slaughter us.”

The people at the forefront even showed faces of despair.

But the next moment.

As the Qin army approached them, to their astonishment.

These Qin soldiers did not attack them.

”I am Zhang Ming, the Personal Guard Commander of Daqin’s General Zhao Feng.”

”The foreign tribes are pursuing from behind.”

”All the civilians listen up, quickly approach our military formation and leave this place.”

”We will cover your retreat,” Zhang Ming shouted loudly.

Upon hearing this.

All the people of Yan State present were stunned, looking at Zhang Ming in disbelief.

They seemed unable to comprehend that the Qin army was going to protect them?

”Yan State is already fallen, you are now all citizens of our Qin, naturally, our Daqin Elite Warriors will protect you.”

”Quickly retreat.”

Zhang Ming shouted loudly again.

The military formation rapidly dispersed.

”Run!”

”The foreign tribes are catching up from behind.”

”Run...”

And the people in the back cried out, running toward the Qin army formation.

Upon hearing the words ”foreign tribes.”

All the people carried expressions of fear and didn’t dare to delay further, they ran toward the Qin army formation, biting the bullet.

The location of the military formation.

All were Qin cavalry, each armed with bows and arrows.

As they saw countless people of Yan State rushing forward.

”Divide the formation.”

Zhao Feng gave a low command.

The original formation rapidly spread out.

Creating paths leading to the rear.

”The Qin army is really here to protect us.”

Seeing this scene, the people of Yan State felt as if they had survived a great disaster, and rushed toward these open paths.

The Qin army, filled with killing intent, made no move against them, simply watching them escape toward the rear.

Soon.

The tens of thousands of civilians had all fled behind the military formation.

Looking ahead again.

Tens of thousands of Eastern Hu cavalry were charging forward in pursuit, and many civilians who couldn’t escape in time were slaughtered by their blades, shot dead by chaotic arrows.

”Foreign tribes.”

A sharp glint flickered in Zhao Feng’s eyes.

”Kill.”

”Kill all these Yan people.”

”Kill all the men, take all the women.”

”Let these Yan women bear offspring for our tribe and enhance our national power.”

”What about these children?”

”Lowly Yan children, kill them all.”

The foreign tribes charged and shouted, filled with murderous intent as they looked at the civilians before them, with no mercy, indiscriminately killing regardless of age, infirmity, or disability.

”Commander of Ten Thousand.”

”There’s a military force ahead.”

”Seems to be the Qin army,” a foreign tribe soldier pointed ahead.

The Eastern Hu Commander looked up and saw, his face showing a hint of mockery: ”It’s just the Qin army, they are here to attack Yan State, just like us, as the Great King instructed, we can leave them be.”
