Chapter 541: Chapter 226: King of Yan: Zhao Feng, Do You Dare Kill the King? (2)

He merely spurred his horse, charging towards the city.

”Follow the General!”

”Form a defensive array!” Zhang Han shouted loudly.

Then he spurred his horse and caught up.

Behind Zhao Feng,

two thousand five hundred trusted aides followed.

Then came the Cavalry Camp.

Upon reaching the city gate,

”Gongsun Guang pays respects to General Zhao Feng. I am willing to lead my seventy thousand Frontier Army troops to surrender to Qin.”

”I only ask the General to grant me the chance to lead my army to the Northern Frontier to confront the Foreign Tribes and save my kin.” Gongsun Guang knelt and bowed.

”Once Ji City is secured, I will personally lead you there.” Zhao Feng dismounted immediately, helping Gongsun Guang up.

”Thank you, General Zhao Feng.”

Gongsun Guang responded excitedly.

”Imperial Guards Leader Wei Zheng pays respects to General Zhao Feng.”

”I am willing to lead fifty thousand Imperial Guards and one hundred thousand New Army troops to surrender.” Wei Zheng, like Gongsun Guang, knelt down immediately.

Seeing this,

Zhao Feng nodded and similarly lifted him up.

Then,

he looked at the numerous generals behind them and the many Yan Army soldiers on the city walls.

”The King of Yan colludes with Foreign Tribes, disloyal and unrighteous to his own people.”

”All Yan soldiers who surrender before battle, I see it with my own eyes.”

”In the name of Zhao Feng, Great Qin General, I announce to all soldiers who surrender in Ji City.”

”Those who surrender in Ji City will not be demoted. The forcibly recruited New Army of Yan will return to civilian life, and the Yan State Border Army and Imperial Guards will follow me to the Northern Frontier of Yan to annihilate the Foreign Tribes.” Zhao Feng proclaimed loudly.

”Long live the King of Qin, long live the Qin.”

”Long live the King of Qin...”

...

Each Yan soldier shouted excitedly.

”The contributions of the two generals, I have noted them.”

”This time without a fight, not a hair harmed.”

”This is a great achievement.”

Zhao Feng said to Gongsun Guang and the other.

He also reassured them both.

Unlike the offense at Yuyang City.

At Yuyang City, the guarding Yan Army still fought against the Daqin Elite Soldiers, causing considerable casualties to them. So even after the city was breached and they voluntarily surrendered, they still bore guilt.

But the garrison of Ji City was different.

The Daqin Elite Soldiers had not truly begun their assault, and they had caused no casualties to the Daqin Elite Soldiers. This was a great feat, and naturally, there was no guilt.

Even after the war ended, Zhao Feng would plead on their behalf to ensure they would not be enslaved.

”Thank you, General.”

The two immediately expressed their gratitude.

”General, please enter the city.”

”The King of Yan is still within the Royal Palace.”

”I have already ordered it; all troops in the city shall surrender to Qin without any transgressions.” Gongsun Guang said through clenched teeth, filled with resentment.

”Let’s go.”

Zhao Feng did not hesitate, mounting his horse and heading into Ji City.

Gongsun Guang and Wei Zheng accompanied Zhao Feng on either side, even dismissing their aides to assure Zhao Feng of their sincerity.

While Zhang Ming led the trusted aides to accompany them.

Upon entering the city.

All the Yan soldiers who were previously defending emerged, standing along either side of the official road, having laid down all their weapons.

From his horse, Zhao Feng could see the expressions of countless Yan soldiers.

Relief, excitement, the sense of having survived a catastrophe.

All sorts of emotions were displayed on their faces.

Upon hearing their generals announce the surrender, they completely relaxed.

Because everyone in the city knew they couldn’t resist the Qin Army, especially not against the War God of the Qin Army, Zhao Feng.

Once Qin Army breached the city, they would either die in battle or be enslaved.

But now, General Zhao Feng of Qin had declared that they had surrendered, they would not be implicated, they would not be executed, nor would they be enslaved.

For them, this was tremendous news.

Within the city,

there were as many as two hundred thousand Yan soldiers.

But at this moment,

countless Yan soldiers watched as the Qin Army entered the city, causing no harm.

In the midst of Gongsun Guang and the two generals’ accompaniment, Zhao Feng proceeded towards the Royal Palace.

The path was unimpeded all the way.

Within the Royal Palace!

The King of Yan still sat on the throne with a heavy expression.

Extremely tense and restless.

”How is it?”

”There are no sounds of battle outside, the Qin Army hasn’t attacked today, right?” The King of Yan asked, looking at the half-empty court.

Those ministers who opposed him earlier had all been imprisoned; the remaining ministers on the court were either fearful of royal power or indifferent to colluding with Foreign Tribes, like the King of Yan himself.

Just at this moment!

”Report.”

”Your Majesty.”

”Something terrible has happened.”

A Guards soldier ran in fearfully.

”What is it?” The King of Yan furrowed his brow, asking hastily.

”The Qin Army has entered the city.”

”They’re advancing towards the Royal Palace now.”

”No, they might already be within the Royal Palace.”

The Guards soldier reported fearfully.

Upon hearing this,

The King of Yan abruptly stood up, his old face awash with terror and despair.

”What did you say?”

”The Qin Army has entered the city?”

”Impossible.”

”What have Wei Zheng and Gongsun Guang been doing?”

”There are two hundred thousand troops in the city, how could they not hold for even an hour?”

”Are you joking with me?”

”Are you deceiving me?”

”You’re courting death.” The King of Yan glared, roaring in anger.

”Your Majesty.”

”It is said the soldiers within the city have learned about Your Majesty’s collusion with Foreign Tribes.”

”Qin General Zhao Feng came to persuade them, and both Gongsun Guang and Wei Zheng have surrendered.” The reporting Guards soldier said tremblingly.

Upon hearing this,

The King of Yan staggered backward, unable to stand, and collapsed onto the ground.

”I treated them with such kindness, how could they betray me?”

”How dare they betray me?”

”Why?” The King of Yan’s old face displayed a mix of confusion and despair.

He had twenty thousand elite soldiers.

Yet they surrendered without even striking a blow.

Initially, he thought he could use the two hundred thousand troops to resist the Qin Army, waiting for aid from Donghu.
