Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Second Soul Pet - Cyclops_1

Wen Yu watched the battle not far away, his mouth agape in disbelief.

Watching as Simba was about to finish its appetizer, and knowing he was next on the menu, a newfound sense of desperation welled up within Wen Yu.

”So what if I die? I’ve died once before. I’m not scared of you, you stupid lion!” Wen Yu picked up his battle saber in anticipation of the inevitable fight to the death.

However, things took an unexpected turn. Cyclops mounted a fierce counterattack when pushed to the brink of death, critically injuring Simba. Seeing Cyclops fall, powerless to fight back, Wen Yu was left dumbstruck.

If only I could have Cyclops’ ability to grow stronger the more it is injured, maybe I could escape...

Wen Yu coveted Cyclops’ power. It was truly terrifying. Cyclops, despite having just over 10 physique points compared to Simba’s 50, had managed to deliver such a devastating blow to Simba. Cyclops’ ability must have amplified its strength by at least five times while it was grievously injured. This was Wen Yu’s only hope of survival.

While in combat, I have 20.5 physique points. If Cyclops’ ability could triple my physique points when I receive moderate injuries, I would reach 61.5 points. Combining that with my rapid skill, even the nimble big cats wouldn’t be able to catch me. Simba is also at a disadvantage, as its injured paw will hinder its agility.

Ignoring Simba’s battle cry and the growing red light in its mouth, Wen Yu rushed to Cyclops without a second thought. He picked up the half-dead creature and dashed to the exit of the park, paying no heed to its dwindling life force.

He could feel waves of scorching hot air from behind, accompanied by the furious roars of Simba. Wen Yu, paying no mind to the ever-encroaching murderous intent from behind him, shouted at Cyclops, who was falling unconscious, ”Wake up, damn it, wake up now!”

The intense movement further damaged Cyclops’ already broken body. Its body trembled, and its once-shut eyes began to slowly open.

The amber eyes, now clouded by a grey hue, weakly gazed at Wen Yu, who was holding it.

This was a fleeting return to lucidity. Wen Yu felt Cyclops’ life force fading away the moment he picked it up. Most of its internal organs were gone.

”Listen up, I can save you. In saving you, I might save myself. I will make a pact with you—just agree. I don’t know if you can understand, but there is no time to waste.” Wen Yu poured out a whole string of words without caring to see if Cyclops understood. He quickly activated the bonding ability of the 2nd Soul Realm.

Wen Yu’s hand radiated a faint purple glow that grew increasingly intense. His touch enveloped Cyclops in a beautiful and mesmerizing light.

Under the mysterious purple light, Cyclops wanted to struggle, but its heavily wounded body didn’t permit it.

Cyclops, feeling no malice from the soft purple light, allowed its survival instincts to go with the flow.

The purple glow covered every inch of Cyclops’ body before disappearing along with it.

Wen Yu felt a sensation within his 2nd Soul Realm—the broken image of Cyclops appeared, and its life force started to slowly strengthen. Its lost body parts also began to slowly regrow under the Soul Realm’s healing power. The healing ability of the Soul Realm was beyond Wen Yu’s expectation. Given the current healing speed, Cyclops could fully recover in a mere day.

But now was not the time to worry about Cyclops. Simba’s roar was close at hand, and Wen Yu could even feel the hot air brushing against his buttocks—a sign of Simba’s heavy breathing. f\ree webn ovel(.)com

”Soul Pet Augmentation,” Wen Yu murmured as Cyclops’ abilities were vividly manifested before him.

Mortal Combat (S-class): An extraordinary will to battle makes the host fearless, significantly reducing pain sensation. As injuries increase, the host’s base physique will exponentially increase with no upper limit.

Powerful Healing (B Grade): When not engaged in a fight, the host’s injuries will rapidly heal but cannot regrow any lost organs.

”Choose Mortal Combat.” Wen Yu felt a purple glow envelop Cyclops in the Soul Realm space and connect with his body. An indescribable sensation told him he now had the ability to use Mortal Combat.

Feeling the oppressive sense from behind growing stronger, Wen Yu ran for his life. In the blink of an eye, he was outside the park.

Simba roared furiously behind him. The pain and fear from a near-death experience filled it with a rage and humiliation it couldn’t possibly forgive, resolving to eliminate every threat.

Blood was still seeping from its neck, and its injured paw forced it to run with three legs. Feeling the disgrace of its state, Simba made up its mind to kill the two intruders that invaded its territory, even if it had to chase them to the ends of the earth.

Simba didn’t even bother to lower its head. It crashed through the park entrance. Seeing Wen Yu getting further away, Simba opened its mouth and aimed a pillar of molten lava straight at him.

This lava pillar was radically different from the one Wen Yu previously experienced. The earlier one had a diameter of only half a meter; now, a towering lava pillar two meters high swept towards him relentlessly like a wall.

Witnessing the giant Flame Flow getting closer, Wen Yu’s heart tensed as he jumped with all his might.

His tremendous physique enabled him to hurdle over the incoming wave of lava. He then hastily retrieved the space teleportation scroll, a reward from the treasure land, from his space ring.

Space Teleportation Scroll: D-Class equipment. Upon usage, it allows the user to move 10 meters in any direction. (Limited to within visual range.)

He had no choice but to use this lifesaving treasure immediately, because a giant shadow was swiftly plummeting from above. It was Simba; having unleashed its Flame Flow, it was now charging madly towards Wen Yu.
