Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Soul Beast’s Second Skill_1

The large rabbit hopped around the Challenge Space, searching for food that couldn’t possibly exist there.

Upon seeing Wen Yu slowly approach from afar, the large rabbit bared its teeth, attempting to threaten the distant creature. However, its appearance was not the least bit menacing.

Wen Yu remained unfazed. As the distance between them shortened, the killing intent emanating from Wen Yu grew stronger.

I have no idea what this rabbit’s two skills are. If it has some tricky ability that prolongs the fight and causes me to fail the challenge, I’ll have nowhere to cry. Three minutes was not a long time.

Wen Yu prepared for a swift battle.

The little Soul Beast, which had just rested, was once again pulled into Wen Yu’s body by the contractual power. From the Spiritual Fluctuation transmitted by the Soul Beast, Wen Yu sensed its aggrieved and fatigued emotions. f|re(e)web.n\ovel. (c)o.m

Once your master is safe, I’ll definitely feed you more Soul Crystals. Wen Yu silently sent back a Spiritual Fluctuation, consoling the little Soul Beast. The Soul Beast, still low in its Evolution, was overjoyed by Wen Yu’s promised Soul Crystals.

The nearby large rabbit was so agitated by the killing intent Wen Yu exuded that its fur bristled. Seeing that this Human was not intimidated by its large front teeth, the large rabbit decisively used a skill.

Ice Arrow (D-Class): Gathers the power of ice to inflict damage on the enemy.

A blue arrow, less than half a meter long, shot directly out of the large rabbit’s mouth. Wen Yu suddenly felt a chill, wondering if the Ice Arrow was formed from the rabbit’s saliva.

This absurd thought had just flashed through Wen Yu’s mind when he ruthlessly quashed it. Although the large rabbit posed no real threat to him, getting distracted during a battle was absolutely forbidden. This was the capital and experience that had allowed Wen Yu to survive for over a year in his previous life.

Wen Yu instantly erupted with his top speed. He first sidestepped the rapidly approaching Ice Arrow, then charged directly at the large rabbit.

The large rabbit was startled by Wen Yu’s speed. Seeing that its Deadly Weapon was useless against Wen Yu, it decisively used its Second Skill.

Flying Kick (E-Class): Concentrates immense power into its legs, then kicks the enemy, inflicting massive damage.

It had to be said, this skill was a perfect match for the rabbit’s physique. The large rabbit squatted, then suddenly exerted force, its entire fluffy body leaping into mid-air. Then, its two short hind legs kicked viciously towards Wen Yu. The immense power generated a whistling sound, proving the terrifying extent of this attack.

Unfortunately, before Wen Yu, the efforts of this herbivore were completely futile.

The steel saber chopped down from above. Before the rabbit’s legs could reach Wen Yu, the steel saber, like a flash of silver light, had already left a massive gash on the large rabbit’s body.

The power of the Soul Strike erupted, directly interrupting the large rabbit’s skill. Without the Control of its brain, the kicks it had launched grew slower and slower, the strength in its legs waning until they merely brushed against Wen Yu. Given Wen Yu’s physical fitness of 20 points, the damage inflicted might not even have registered as pain.

The large rabbit fell directly from mid-air to the ground, rolling about and clearly not lightly injured.

Without mercy, Wen Yu swiftly brought his blade down. Fortunately, the rabbit’s fur was not as tough as the Cyclops’s. Not bothering to see the damage effect from the Soul Strike, Wen Yu directly finished off this Level 2 mutant beast—which hadn’t lived up to its rank—on a physical level.

”Ding. Congratulations, Challenger, your challenge was successful. Advancement is now beginning.”

As the notification tone echoed throughout the space, a golden light from mid-air enveloped Wen Yu. When the light shone on him, his battle state was instantly nullified by an unknown force, and the little Soul Beast was also exposed within the golden light.

Under this mysterious power, the little Soul Beast first rapidly grew larger, then, as if being compressed, slowly shrank. Although its overall size remained unchanged from its original state, the blackness of its form grew deeper and more profound.

Wen Yu didn’t see the little Soul Beast’s changes. He only felt that his vision was filled with gold. A massive warm current spread from his skin, swiftly surging through his entire body and remodeling it.

While enjoying the sensation of metamorphosis brought by the golden light, Wen Yu examined the notifications from the Dominator that came with his advancement.

”Ding. Congratulations, Challenger, you have successfully advanced to become a Level 2 Professionist.”

”The physical fitness of a Level 2 Professionist can only be Strengthened using Level 2 magic crystals. The upper limit for physical fitness is 50 points. At the same time, the exchange between Level 1 magic crystals and Level 2 magic crystals is now open, with an exchange ratio of 10:1.”

”Ding. Due to the special nature of the Soul Master profession, the Challenger has not obtained any skills.”

”Ding. Congratulations, your Soul Beast has advanced to Level 2. Its physical fitness upper limit has increased to 50 points. Current Soul Beast Attribute: Beast attribute. It has also obtained a Second Skill.”

”Rapid (C-Class, Passive): Comprehensively improves all speed-related abilities by ten percent, including movement speed, attack speed, and nerve reaction speed.”

”Ding. The host has unlocked the 2nd Soul Realm and can now contract a second soul pet. Host, please note: the success rate of forcibly contracting a soul pet depends on the power disparity between both parties. A soul pet that actively agrees to the contract has a 100% success rate, but the contracted soul pet cannot exceed the host’s current level.”

”Ding. If a contract signing fails, you will be unable to use the contract ability again for three days.”

”Ding. When a contracted soul pet dies, the host will suffer a severe Soul Strike. Simultaneously, that Soul Realm will enter a collapsed state and can be nourished back with high-quality Soul Crystals. Only after it is fully restored can another soul pet be contracted.”

Once the golden light completely dissipated, Wen Yu reviewed the notification messages in his mind. He savored the power within his body. Although his physical fitness hadn’t changed, it felt as if a shackle had been unlocked, and he felt completely liberated.

The little Soul Beast on his shoulder bounced around happily, clearly much more agile and lively after advancing to Level 2.

Wen Yu looked again at the New Skill the little Soul Beast acquired upon advancing. Although its class was not high, Wen Yu understood very well that high-quality skills could never be automatically mastered through advancement trials. They could only be obtained through special methods, such as from treasure lands or by using Skill Synthesis Scrolls.

Under the current circumstances, the Passive Skill ’Rapid’ would be of great help in escaping Simba’s clutches. Yes, an improvement from 0.1 percent to 0.5 percent.

After all, Simba, as a Third-level mutant beast, had over 50 points of physical fitness, plus the characteristic agility of felines.

Such a vast disparity was almost impossible to bridge with any skill.

”Ding. Advancement successful. The Challenger will be teleported out of the Challenge Space in 30 seconds.”

The notification tone completely dispelled Wen Yu’s joy from advancing; he had to face the greatest ordeal once more. Facing Simba, what exactly should I do?
