Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Chuchu’s Sadness

Gu Qingzhi and Lingsu handed a thick medical report to Qin Tianxuan.

Qin Tianxuan didn’t even glance at it. ”Tell me in the simplest terms. I don’t want to read through these complicated reports.”

Gu Qingzhi sighed. ”As I’ve told you before, sir, with neurological conditions like this... after being in a coma for so long, there’s a chance of memory loss.”

Qin Tianxuan rubbed his head. ”Will her memory come back?”

Gu Qingzhi and Lingsu exchanged a glance and said comfortingly, ”Perhaps it will, perhaps it never will. But for Madam Weiwei, the most terrifying thing isn’t the memory loss. It’s the fact that she was once poisoned!”

Qin Tianxuan frowned. ”Explain.”

Gu Qingzhi lowered her voice. ”Madam Weiwei was poisoned some time ago. The perpetrator’s methods were highly sophisticated. She lost a portion of her memories back then. The poison was never fully purged, and that’s what’s causing these after-effects.”

Lingsu gripped Qin Tianxuan’s hand. ”The poison used on Madam Weiwei... it’s likely the same as the one used on Lady Shuanghua. This is a major conspiracy. Madam Weiwei must have discovered some secret back then and had her memories wiped.”

Qin Tianxuan shook his head. ”Weiwei was completely defenseless back then. Why didn’t the mastermind just kill her?”

”We theorize that Lady Shuanghua appeared just in time and saved Madam Weiwei.”

But as for what really happened back then, no one knows.

What secret had Han Biwei discovered? That was many years ago now.

What could be deduced now was that someone with astonishing medical skills had targeted Han Biwei.

And that person was also the one who murdered Shuanghua!

This was no longer a medical art, but the art of poison!

Masters skilled in both medicine and poison are rare in this world. The only ones capable of reaching such a level were likely those few reclusive old masters from the Da Xia Ancient Medical Realm.

Qin Tianxuan picked up the report and immediately destroyed it.

”Only the three of us know about this. It must be kept absolutely secret! Don’t even tell Uncle Han and Aunt Jiang!”

’To think Han Biwei was still dragged into this conspiracy in the end.’

’Who knew how many enemies lurked in the shadows, watching him, the Night Emperor.’

’All I wanted was to give Weiwei a quiet life, to let her and Niannian live in peace.’

’But reality was cruel.’

’Neither the powerful families of the Imperial Capital nor the clowns from places like the Southern Domain Battle Department would let this opportunity go.’

”Ever since the incident with the Northern Domain Battle Department, I’ve been under investigation by the higher-ups. They’ve sent several orders for me to go to headquarters and explain myself, but I’ve kept putting it off.”

Qin Tianxuan sneered. ”Looks like I’ll have to pay them a visit after all.”

Just as he finished speaking, a security guard from Shenghua Hospital appeared and reported in a low voice, ”There’s a young woman outside named Chuchu who wants to come in. She’s brought gifts to see the madam!”

The entire floor of Shenghua Hospital where Han Biwei was staying was a restricted area.

Without an order from Qin Tianxuan, no unauthorized personnel were allowed to enter.

He never expected Chuchu to actually show up.

The Jinling Chu Family, and the grudges between them, were a thorn in Qin Tianxuan’s heart!

He immediately commanded, ”The Chu Family is forbidden from entering this place!”

The guard immediately bowed to acknowledge the order.

Just as the guard was about to go out and send Chuchu away, a shout came from the end of the corridor by the elevators—it was the young lady of the Chu Family. ”I’m here to see my sister-in-law! Why won’t you let me in? I want to see my cousin!”

Chuchu was causing a scene in the hallway.

Qin Tianxuan’s expression was cold. Just as he was about to order her to be forcibly removed, a gentle voice came from inside the hospital room. ”Is someone here to see me? Is it a friend?”

Han Biwei had just finished a physical therapy session and was feeling quite alert. She had heard the shouting in the corridor.

Qin Tianxuan frowned. ”Isn’t this room supposed to be soundproof? How can Weiwei hear the noise outside?”

Gu Qingzhi quickly explained, ”Madam Weiwei said the room felt too stuffy, so we created a few vents. It’s not as soundproof anymore.”

With a sigh of resignation, Qin Tianxuan said, ”Let Chuchu in.”

The guard in the hallway brought the young lady of the Chu Family over.

She was carrying a basket of exquisite fruit and two boxes of high-quality health supplements. It wasn’t a lot, but it was clear she had put a lot of thought into the gifts.

Seeing Qin Tianxuan from a distance, Chuchu hurried over. ”Brother...”

”Shut up!” Qin Tianxuan’s gaze was piercing. ”I don’t like that name.”

Chuchu stood her ground, her expression stubborn. ”Chu Xinyue was my biological aunt. That makes me your cousin. We’re related by blood. Whether you like it or not, that’s the truth.”

Qin Tianxuan fell silent.

Chuchu looked somewhat pitiful. ”Brother, don’t worry. I decided to visit my sister-in-law on my own. This has nothing to do with the Chu Family.”

”I know,” Qin Tianxuan said flatly. ”Chu Qianqiu has no idea who I really am. If he did, he would’ve come crawling on his knees to beg for mercy long ago!”

Sensing his coldness, Chuchu’s eyes began to redden. ”The Chu Family has hurt you too deeply, but I... I really hope we can resolve this!”

”Resolve it?” Qin Tianxuan gave her a long, hard look. ”Sure. If Chu Qianqiu brings me his head, I’ll consider it.”

Tears welled up in Chuchu’s eyes.

Clutching her gifts, she stubbornly turned, pushed open the door, and walked straight into the hospital room.

Qin Tianxuan watched her in silence, then gave a direct order: ”Keep an eye on the Chu Family’s movements. It’s time to settle this feud.”

Inside the room, Han Biwei was propped up against the headboard, looking at Chuchu with curiosity. ”Oh, I’m sorry, who are you? I don’t think I recognize you.”

Chuchu set down her gifts and sat gently by the bed, forcing a smile. ”Qin Tianxuan is my cousin, so I suppose that means I should call you sister-in-law.”

Han Biwei’s face flushed. ”Well, I... I haven’t really figured all that out yet.”

Huh?

Chuchu was taken aback.

Han Biwei ruffled her hair. ”I don’t remember him. The doctors say it’s an after-effect of a neurological disorder.”

”A-amnesia?”

Chuchu was stunned.

Once she recovered from her shock, she couldn’t help but start recounting the stories she knew.

”My cousin came to Jinling to get treatment for your illness. A lot has happened since then...” Chuchu said slowly, but she trailed off when she suddenly noticed the bracelet on Han Biwei’s wrist.

”What’s wrong?” Han Biwei asked, touching the bracelet. ”I think... Qin Tianxuan put this on me.”

Chuchu sighed. ”Sister-in-law, do you know the story behind this bracelet? The name engraved on it, ’Chu Xinyue,’ was Brother Tianxuan’s mother!”

Chuchu had already figured out the truth of that old story.

Now, filled with sorrow, she began to tell that story as well.
