Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 172: Chapter 172: Fake Medicine Scandal

The Gu Family’s large courtyard in Yuhua Lane was now filled with people.

It was late at night, yet the group was shouting nonstop!

”Divine Doctor Gu, please explain to us why the medicine you sold us is fake!”

”That’s right! You have to give us an answer today! We only paid for so much of your medicine because we trusted the reputation of the Xinglin Gu Family!”

”Damn it! Plenty of shops in Jinling City sell this kind of medicine. Why did we buy from you? Wasn’t it because the Gu Family is a long-established brand?!”

”A single dose of your medicine costs over ten times more than anywhere else! If it weren’t for your long-term patients who all trust you, we never would have bought from your family! Get out here and explain yourself!”

Piles of medicine, wrapped in square paper packets, had been thrown into the courtyard. They filled half the space, stacked so high they formed a thick wall. There had to be at least several thousand doses!

And the people standing in the courtyard were all owners of pharmacies affiliated with Jinling National Medicine.

They shouted and cursed in their fury, but the door to the main hall remained tightly shut. Through the light within, the vague silhouettes of a few hiding figures could be seen.

Ye Xuanxuan stared in a daze. ”What’s going on?”

Qin Tianxuan scoffed. ”The Divine Doctor you recommended got caught selling fake medicine, and now people have come to her door.”

”Impossible! In our family, I’m supposed to call her Auntie. How could a relative of my Divine Doctor Ye Family possibly sell fake medicine?”

Ye Xuanxuan walked straight into the courtyard and immediately started shouting, ”All of you troublemakers, listen up! Auntie Gu would never sell fake medicine! You must just not understand how miraculous this medicine is. Now get out of here, or I’m calling the police!”

”Go ahead and call the Police Department! That’s even better!” one of the pharmacy owners shot back, getting worked up. ”We’re waiting for the authorities to give us a formal statement on this anyway!”

Ye Xuanxuan’s yelling only made the situation more chaotic.

Seeing the young woman clenching her fists to threaten them, Qin Tianxuan reached out, grabbed her by the scruff of her neck, and plucked her back behind him as if she were a baby chick.

He looked at the menacing group of small-business owners. ”Will blocking Divine Doctor Gu’s door solve anything? Will it recover your losses?”

The group opposite him immediately fell silent.

Everyone knew this was no solution, but with nearly all their personal fortunes invested in this batch of medicine, how could they not be frantic?

Qin Tianxuan gave a faint smile. ”I know what you’re most worried about. You’re afraid you won’t get your money back, you don’t dare sell the fake medicine you’re stuck with, and you’ll end up losing your entire investment. Am I right?”

The crowd of people all nodded.

Qin Tianxuan nodded. ”Then this is simple. All of you combined, how much did you spend on the medicine?”

’My, this young man has quite the tone.’

The one leading the protest, Boss Sun of Da Ji Pharmacy, stepped forward. ”We’re all small-time businesses. For this batch of medicine, we’ve shelled out more than seventeen million in total for an order of over ten thousand doses!”

More than seventeen million.

For an ordinary merchant, that was a mountain of debt!

Qin Tianxuan pulled Ye Xuanxuan forward. ”Standing before you is the Eldest Miss of the Imperial Capital’s Divine Doctor Ye Family. A single handbag costs her tens of millions, and she only stays in presidential suites. She can front the money to pay you all back. Once the facts are clear, I can personally guarantee that you will all receive proper compensation!”

Huh?

Everyone present, including Ye Xuanxuan, was left dumbfounded.

After a long moment, Ye Xuanxuan’s face flushed red. ”How... how am I supposed to come up with tens of millions just like that?”

Qin Tianxuan feigned surprise. ”The Eldest Miss Ye doesn’t have any pocket money?”

Mortified, Ye Xuanxuan waved her small fists in the air. ”My large purchases are all on credit cards, and other expenses are put on a tab! The family settles my bills at the end of the month. I don’t have that much cash on hand!”

Heh.

The crowd sneered in unison. They had almost been fooled by this man and his imposing aura.

’So they’re just a couple of con artists after all.’

They were about to start clamoring again.

”Shut up!” Qin Tianxuan whipped his head around, his gaze turning ice-cold. ”I’ll provide the money!”

SWISH! He flashed a black card from the Golden Sparrow Silver Alliance.

Most of the people there didn’t recognize its significance, their faces full of scorn.

Only Boss Sun of Da Ji Pharmacy’s eyes flickered. He held the crowd back and approached personally.

He didn’t dare to take the strange black card. Instead, he glanced at the card number, turned, and made a phone call.

A moment later, Boss Sun came scurrying back over, bowing deeply. ”Sir, I believe you! We aren’t in a rush for the money. We truly hope this matter can be resolved, as we’d like to continue working with Divine Doctor Gu. How about this? Out of respect for you, we’ll give Divine Doctor Gu three more days!”

Qin Tianxuan gave a faint smile. ”That works as well.”

Boss Sun gathered his confused colleagues from the other pharmacies, and they quickly departed from the Gu Family’s property.

”Brother Sun, what on earth was that all about?”

”Brother Sun, is that guy really rich?”

Boss Sun’s expression was solemn. He lowered his voice. ”A Golden Sparrow Pattern Card! You wouldn’t understand, and I can’t really explain it. But one thing is certain: now that that gentleman has given his word, we are absolutely guaranteed to profit from this!”

Calm returned to the Gu Family courtyard.

Ye Xuanxuan was now staring wide-eyed at the man, looking at him as if he were some kind of rare animal.

”What is it?” Qin Tianxuan frowned.

Ye Xuanxuan snatched the card from his hand. ”Is this thing real or fake? You big scoundrel, you’re incredible! You managed to trick them into leaving with a single forged black card.”

Qin Tianxuan looked silently at the card in her hand, then at his beloved wife’s younger sister. He sighed softly. ”That card... was originally meant for your older sister. But I suppose it’s fine for you to have it now.”

Tch...

Ye Xuanxuan casually stuffed it into her small purse. ”If this were real, I’d have hit the jackpot. A Golden Sparrow Pattern Card is backed by the entire Golden Sparrow Silver Alliance. It’s enough to buy all of Jinling City. What a pity it’s a fake.”

She kept it as a souvenir.

Qin Tianxuan didn’t explain, simply gesturing toward the main hall. ”Let’s go inside.”
