Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 162: Chapter 162: The Unpresentable Song Yunsheng

Eldest Miss Chu, dressed in a beautiful evening gown, had just emerged from backstage.

A tall, handsome man accompanied her—it was Song Yunsheng, who had just been fired from the Police Department.

Song Yunsheng was on cloud nine, practically floating.

’When Eldest Miss Chu was in a bad mood, she actually sought me out immediately. What kind of treatment is this?’

’This means that after slaving away for so many days, I’ve finally moved the Eldest Miss!’

’At this point,’ Song Yunsheng thought, ’my position at the Police Department doesn’t even matter anymore.’

’After all, I’m about to become the son-in-law of the Chu Family.’

He accompanied Chuchu, looking every bit the part of her Flower Guardian. As they made their entrance, all eyes in the room turned to them, making Song Yunsheng even more smug.

Chu Qianqiu and Chu Sihai walked over.

Song Yunsheng subconsciously bowed and eagerly stepped forward to introduce himself.

Before he could even speak, Chu Sihai pushed him aside. ”Sweetheart, where did you find this bodyguard? He has no manners at all.”

Song Yunsheng stammered, ”Mr. Chu, I—I’m not a bodyguard. I’m...”

Chuchu cut him off. ”Yes, he’s a temporary bodyguard I hired. He used to be with the Police Department, but he’s been fired. I suppose he’s somewhat capable.”

With that, she gave a casual wave of her hand. ”Song Yunsheng, go wait over there!”

Chuchu’s tone was one she would use to dismiss an underling.

Song Yunsheng retreated to the side sheepishly, a bitter taste in his mouth.

As for Chu Qianqiu and Chu Sihai, they paid him no mind, merely whispering something to Chuchu in low voices.

”The Night Emperor?!” Chuchu said in disbelief. ”You want me to seduce him?”

”Ahem, ahem. It’s not seduction. It’s about using your charm! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If you can seize it, our Chu Family will soar to new heights and become completely untouchable.”

Her grandfather and father both tried to persuade her.

But Chuchu’s thoughts turned to that proud, aloof Qin Tianxuan.

’Hmph. Why is that bastard on my mind?’

’He has no money and no status. So what if he saved my life? He just ignores me, and on top of that, he made me lose a good friend like Xuanxuan.’

Chuchu couldn’t help but feel annoyed.

Even though the Chu Family’s fortunes had declined since moving from the Imperial Capital to Jinling, she, Chuchu, was still as glamorous as ever.

Countless young masters from Jinling’s wealthy and powerful families revolved around her, treating her like a princess.

’Only that Qin Tianxuan... he wouldn’t even deign to glance my way!’

The thought made Chuchu grind her teeth in frustration.

But Chu Qianqiu and Chu Sihai left in a hurry. The banquet hadn’t started yet, and they needed to go welcome the various important guests who were arriving.

Chuchu beckoned to Song Yunsheng.

Song Yunsheng scurried over eagerly.

”Song Yunsheng, let me ask you. You said that Qin Tianxuan was arrested by the Police Department. Is that really true?”

”Well...”

Song Yunsheng had told this lie out of sheer jealousy, so he braced himself and said, ”He was definitely arrested. They even took him to the main hall at headquarters.”

Chuchu sighed. ”Then I have to find a way to get him out. He’s my savior, after all! That’s the reason I asked you to come. Even though you were fired from the Police Department, you must still have some contacts. Hurry up and ask around for me.”

Song Yunsheng felt a stab in his heart. ’So I was just a tool to her.’

’The Eldest Miss didn’t invite me here because she likes me at all, but to ask about that Qin Tianxuan.’

He roared inwardly.

’On what grounds? I, Song Yunsheng, am handsome and charismatic, a graduate of a prestigious university, and became an elite officer in the Police Department at a young age.’

’Now, for Chuchu’s sake, I’ve lost my job and ruined my future.’

’And yet, I still can’t measure up to that Qin Tianxuan!’

’How am I inferior to him?’

Song Yunsheng’s face twisted in resentment. Chuchu was very displeased. ”What? You can’t even handle this one small request? Then forget it. You can leave.”

”No, no, I’ll ask right away.” Song Yunsheng pitifully took out his phone but fumbled with it for what felt like an eternity, unable to make a single call.

Chuchu grew increasingly impatient.

Just then, the Eldest Young Master of the Qi Family appeared with his men.

Young Master Qi stared coldly at Song Yunsheng. ”Chuchu, is this your new bodyguard? He’s completely clueless. Who told him he could get so close to you?”

”Ah!”

Song Yunsheng nearly dropped his phone. ’Isn’t... isn’t this Young Master Qi of Jinling?’

’He’s definitely a rich heir I can’t afford to offend.’

Song Yunsheng explained, bowing and scraping, ”I—I’m not a bodyguard. I’m a good friend of Chuchu’s!”

SLAP!

Before he could finish his sentence, Young Master Qi slapped him across the face.

Song Yunsheng clutched his face, his expression like that of a wounded little animal—aggrieved and pitiful, but so pathetic it was nauseating to watch.

Young Master Qi was furious. ”A good friend? You think you’re worthy? Chuchu is my goddess! You’d better stay far away from her, or I’ll beat you every single time I see you!”

Chuchu frowned. ”Qi Xiangyu, what are you doing? Song Yunsheng is helping me with something! He is my friend!”

This only made Young Master Qi Xiangyu more annoyed. He grabbed Song Yunsheng by the collar and dragged him aside. ”Do you know who I am?”

Song Yunsheng nodded weakly, his eyes pleading. ”Young Master Qi, it’s all a misunderstanding. I really don’t want to make an enemy of you. Please, don’t do this. Give me a little face!”

”Face?”

Qi Xiangyu laughed, a sinister, chilling sound. ”I get it now. You’re that nobody from the Police Department who’s been chasing my Chuchu, aren’t you?”

With that, he pulled out his phone and made a call. ”Uncle Chang, aren’t you the head of HR for the Police Department? Help me look into a Song Yunsheng!”

Listening to the person on the other end, Young Master Qi burst out laughing. ”Just got fired? And received an official reprimand from the Police Department? What a useless piece of trash!”

Putting down his phone, Young Master Qi Xiangyu patted Song Yunsheng’s cheek. ”Going after Chuchu means you’ve crossed one of my lines. Now, I’ll give you a chance. Kneel and apologize, and I’ll pretend none of this ever happened.”
