Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 191: Chapter 191: The Prince’s Past

Ye Mingzhu picked herself up from the road, utterly despondent.

She had made a mistake and gone astray, and now this stain of humiliation could never be washed away.

In broad daylight, on the bustling street, a chill ran through Ye Mingzhu’s entire body.

’I’m sorry, Mr. Qin. I truly am a lost cause. I’ll never be able to wash away the humiliation of my past.’

In a daze, overwhelmed by a wave of indignation, Ye Mingzhu charged directly toward a large truck speeding down the road.

’Better to just die!’

WHOOSH! A figure suddenly sprang forward, grabbing Ye Mingzhu and rolling with her across the road!

The truck screeched to a halt as people on the sidewalk gasped in alarm.

Covered in scrapes, Ye Mingzhu dazedly looked up and saw Wang Hou.

Wang Hou picked her up, his expression grim. ”Why would you try to kill yourself? Do you think dying will solve anything? Come back with me. Sir will get you justice!”

「Outside a room in Shenghua Hospital.」

Qin Tianxuan looked at the disheveled Wang Hou. ”How is Ye Mingzhu?”

”Mostly scrapes. The doctor just examined her. Mingzhu was beaten at the White Tiger Silver Alliance. She has multiple contusions, her face was struck, and her eardrum was damaged. Other than that, there are no major issues.”

A glint flashed in Qin Tianxuan’s eyes. ”Why did the White Tiger Silver Alliance assault her?”

Wang Hou shook his head, his face grim. ”I don’t know. Logically, they shouldn’t have done this if she just mentioned my name.”

BAM!

Qin Tianxuan slammed his palm onto a nearby chair. ”White Tiger Silver Alliance... How audacious!”

”Sir, let me handle this!”

Wang Hou glanced at Ye Mingzhu on the hospital bed, the corner of his eye twitching. ”I’ll get to the bottom of this with that Minister Liu from the Silver Alliance!”

Qin Tianxuan stood with his hands clasped behind his back. ”No! I’ll handle this myself. Immediately order the four great Silver Alliances to a meeting. Four o’clock this afternoon, at the Golden Sparrow Silver Alliance’s Celestial Terrace Mansion! I want every person in charge—every top leader—in attendance!”

”Yes, sir!”

Wang Hou was shaken. He could feel Qin Tianxuan’s fury.

A meeting of the four great Silver Alliances hadn’t been called in years.

Qin Tianxuan then pushed open the door to her room.

On the bed, Ye Mingzhu seemed to have recovered some of her spirit and looked much better.

Qin Tianxuan slowly sat on the edge of her bed.

Ye Mingzhu, feeling utterly mortified, pulled the sheet over her face.

Qin Tianxuan gently pulled the sheet away. ”Let me see your injuries.”

Ye Mingzhu’s face flushed. ”I’m sorry. I’m so useless, and my mindset was all wrong. I can’t believe I wanted to kill myself after I left. Now that I’ve come to my senses, I feel so foolish and stupid.”

Qin Tianxuan examined her injuries, seething with silent rage.

’That Minister Liu from the White Tiger Silver Alliance actually dared to lay a hand on someone I sent!’

At this, Ye Mingzhu felt even more useless and disgraced.

”Wang Hou has already looked into what happened at the Silver Alliance. He’s very concerned about you. He was worried, which is why he secretly followed you.”

Qin Tianxuan stood up and looked at her. ”Ye Mingzhu, you’re my subordinate now. You’re no longer the woman people could push around. As for being the mistress of someone from the Black Dragon Bank, that’s in the past. No one will ever bring it up again. But whether or not you can get back on your feet is up to you!”

”Suicide is the act of a weakling!”

Qin Tianxuan’s tone grew stern. ”I have expectations for you. Don’t let me down.”

Finally, he pulled the sheet back up, tucking Ye Mingzhu in.

”As for that Minister Liu from the White Tiger Silver Alliance, I will deal with him personally. By being discourteous to you, he was humiliating me, Qin Tianxuan!”

With that, Qin Tianxuan turned and left.

Outside, Wang Hou walked in.

He pulled a chair over and sat by her bed.

Ye Mingzhu was shy. ”Thank you, Brother Wang. If it weren’t for you, I might have died on that road.”

Wang Hou gave a faint smile. ”Why did you try to kill yourself?”

For some reason, Ye Mingzhu felt immense pressure in front of this handsome, princely man.

She stammered, ”I just... I feel so useless. Sir has no other subordinates as worthless as I am.”

Wang Hou shook his head. ”You’ve only been with Sir for a few days. Which one of us, our brothers and sisters in the Five Palaces and Nine Armies, didn’t grow into who we are now, step by step, by following him?”

Ye Mingzhu asked curiously, ”Brother Wang, what did you do before?”

Wang Hou rolled up his sleeve and pointed to a scar on his forearm. ”See this? Many years ago, when I had hit rock bottom, I also tried to kill myself. I was even weaker than you.”

It was a scar from slitting his wrist.

’She couldn’t believe it. A man as powerful as Wang Hou had once attempted suicide?’

Wang Hou recalled the past, his voice filled with emotion. ”I came from the Beijun Royal Family, a prestigious Emperor Clan. When I was young, I was a pampered young master who did nothing but indulge in pleasure. But then, my father’s branch of the family lost an internal struggle. My entire family was murdered by the Wang Family Elders!”

His face twitched. ”Back then, I was penniless, cast out from my family. I scavenged through trash, I stole. Eventually, I was caught, tied to an electric scooter, and paraded through the streets in humiliation.”

Ye Mingzhu’s heart trembled as she listened, and she instinctively took his hand.

Wang Hou’s hand was ice-cold. ”During those miserable days, I smoked, I drank, I even became an addict. I was a wreck, barely human. I remember one day, after being beaten up again, I was lying in a gutter on the street. I didn’t want to live anymore. There was no point. So I used a shard of broken glass and cut my wrist.”

That day, warm blood flowed into the cold gutter.

He was in a daze, but Wang Hou would never forget the man who suddenly appeared before him.

He wore a military uniform and carried the aura of the battlefield’s smoke and fire.

”Why are you trying to kill yourself? You’re a grown man. Get up!”

To this day, Qin Tianxuan’s voice still echoes in his ears.

Wang Hou’s hand began to tremble.

Ye Mingzhu held it tightly, trying to comfort him with the warmth of her palm.

Wang Hou gave a faint smile. ”Sir not only saved my life, but he also helped me break all my bad habits. Then he sent me to the best school of finance to study.”

After that, the world lost a down-and-out young master, but it gained a God of Wealth who would shake the heavens.

”That’s my story. Compared to what I went through, what do you have to be so sad about?” Wang Hou said at last. ”You’re very lucky to have met Sir when you did.”

Ye Mingzhu looked at this man with his princely aura, leaned in, and couldn’t stop herself from placing a gentle kiss on his cheek.
