Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 727: Chapter 740: Probably, The Great Uncle Is Here

Lin Junyang suddenly stood up, ”Tuzi just got out of the hospital. Apart from instant noodles, I can’t cook anything else, and while it’s fine for rough guys like us, Tuzi’s body can’t take that kind of food. I’d better get Xiao Xiao to come over.”

With that, he walked out without looking back.

Liu Hu watched Lin Junyang’s hurried figure and opened his mouth wide, looking back at their fearless Boss, ”Boss, doesn’t Lin Tou seem a bit off?”

”Maybe his aunt is visiting. Where’s Jiang Zhuo?” Mu Xingfeng looked around but didn’t see Jiang Zhuo.

”Jiang Zhuo went to pick up someone, an old acquaintance who used to be in the Guard Team. She was injured during a mission and retired without transitioning to civilian work. After returning home, because of her injuries, she couldn’t manage farm work and lived off small jobs. Although she can’t do heavy work, she can still manage household tasks, so Boss thought of her when looking for a housekeeper.”

Mu Xingfeng’s eyebrows furrowed upon hearing this, ”Why didn’t she transition? Didn’t the state provide her with assistance and settlement fees?”

For injured Guard Team members, the state doesn’t abandon them. Even if they can’t remain in the team, they receive appropriate placement along with aid and subsidies.

”I heard the Guard Team tried to arrange her transition with local authorities, but due to her family’s reasons, it didn’t happen. Instead, they demanded a large compensation from the Guard Team. She has two brothers who were unmarried then. The compensation was used to build houses and marry off the brothers, leaving her alone and without support, living independently.”

Liu Hu was very angry when Jiang Zhuo told him about this situation. While rural areas often favor sons over daughters, this was too extreme. When the daughter was in the Guard Team, the family basked in her glory, proudly flaunting to potential suitors for the sons.

But after the daughter got injured and retired, the family exploited her last bit of worth, using her dignity to get compensation to build houses and find wives for the sons, neglecting the daughter who sacrificed everything.

As they were talking, Jiang Zhuo returned with a young woman behind him.

The woman was very dignified, tall and straight because of her Guard Team background, not graceful like other women but standing very upright.

She wore a simple shirt and pants, a bit worn but clean, and neatly dressed.

Her short hair made the woman look smart and competent, her skin was somewhat dark but healthy and flushed.

If Mu Xingfeng had already considered keeping the woman upon hearing from Liu Hu, seeing her in person solidified his decision.

With his eye for people, if she hadn’t been injured and retired, she would have shined in the Guard Team. It’s a pity.

”Sir, I’m back,” Jiang Zhuo greeted Mu Xingfeng and introduced the woman, ”This is Su Jin, the housekeeper I found, and my old acquaintance. Su Jin, this is Young Master Mu, my former squad leader.”

Su Jin walked up to Mu Xingfeng and gave a proper salute, ”Sir!”

Mu Xingfeng returned her salute, ”Which Guard Team were you from?”

”Southern China Guard Team, 118th Battalion,” replied Su Jin, her voice loud and clear.

”Southern China Guard Team, 118th Battalion,” Mu Xingfeng murmured. It was the only female Guard Team in Imperial City. No wonder. ”Managing my villa, it’s a bit of a demotion.”

Mu Xingfeng seemed in a rare good mood, even making a joke.

Su Jin stood straight again and saluted, ”It’s an honor to work for you, Sir.”

Su Jin had a dream of the Guard Team. Although she retired honorably, she had a special sentiment for the team.

Back in her hometown, the villagers, not understanding, believed she must have done something wrong to retire early and without transitioning, making life in the village cold and lonely. Now, being with old Guard Team fellows and working for Mu Xingfeng, she felt truly content.
