Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 194: Chapter 206: Why Should Family Speak as If They Are Strangers

The most pride-worthy aspect is that everything he has achieved has never relied on his family’s background; he climbed up step by step on his own strength.

Every bit of honor on his body was earned by him through completing tasks excellently, and he risked his life for it.

”Grandpa, I’m fine now, right? Don’t worry, I’m very tough.” Mu Xingfeng saw Old Mr. Mu’s eyes slightly reddened and spoke to comfort him.

”You little rascal.” Old Mr. Mu looked at Mu Xingfeng and saw that besides his pale face, his spirit seemed good, and he was much relieved.

Mu Xingfeng had kept his injury hidden from him, maybe because he saw that Mu Xingfeng was already recovering well, and only yesterday did he inform him about it. Early this morning, he couldn’t wait to come.

Old Mr. Lin also stepped forward to scrutinize Mu Xingfeng, becoming more and more satisfied with what he saw.

”Xingfeng, taking that bullet for Ruonan is like taking it for the Lin Family. Grandpa Lin guarantees you that if you ever need anything from the Lin Family, we will always be there for you.”

”Oh, come on Old Man Lin, do you think our Mu Family would just stand by if Xingfeng didn’t take that bullet for Ruonan? Besides, after Xingfeng got injured, it was Ruonan who carried this strapping young man out, buying critical time for saving him.”

Old Mr. Mu watched Lin Ruonan, who stood graciously and elegantly by Mu Xingfeng’s side. They looked inexplicably well-matched, which made him very happy.

Doesn’t Mu Xingfeng taking a bullet for this girl mean that he has feelings for her?

Old Mr. Lin, seeing the conversation reach this point, took the opportunity to say, ”Ruonan carrying Xingfeng out was what she should have done. Even if she spends her whole life repaying the favor of taking the bullet, it would still be to her advantage.”

Old Mr. Mu naturally understood Old Mr. Lin’s meaning and laughed, ”Then, as family, why should we speak as if we are strangers? Look, the young ones don’t differentiate so much, but we old folks are making it too formal.”

”Yes, we are really getting muddle-headed. Well, Nan, don’t go anywhere in the meantime; just stay here and take good care of Xingfeng. By the end of the year, Xingfeng’s injuries will be healed, and you can take this time to cultivate your relationship together.”

Old Mr. Lin felt his arrangements were perfect, completely missing Mu Xingfeng’s already darkened expression.

Lin Ruonan, listening to the two elders’ conversation, couldn’t help but feel overjoyed, but when she glanced at Mu Xingfeng, she felt the elders’ words were too far-fetched.

”Grandpa, Xingfeng and I are just colleagues,” Lin Ruonan voiced her defense, afraid Mu Xingfeng might say something in anger.

”Colleagues? Colleagues can also develop into something more. Who says colleagues can’t fall in love?”

Old Mr. Lin was quite displeased; he had smoothed the way for them, and this silly girl was tearing it apart.

Finally, Mu Xingfeng looked at Old Mr. Mu and spoke, ”Grandpa, there is still about a month until the Chinese New Year.”

Old Mr. Lin naturally didn’t understand this seemingly out-of-context remark, but Old Mr. Mu understood perfectly.

It was agreed that Mu Xingfeng would bring his girlfriend home by the Chinese New Year, and if he couldn’t, he would get engaged to Lin Ruonan.

At this moment, Mu Xingfeng’s reminder that there was still a month until the New Year was naturally to let old Mr. Mu know that the person in his heart was not Lin Ruonan.
