Forced Pampering: Haughty Husband, Please Restrain Yourself

Chapter 24: Chapter 28: Providing Timely Help

After leaving the hospital, An Ran found a job as a restaurant waitress, which settled her basic living needs.

Today, as she arrived at the restaurant entrance, she saw many people already standing inside. An Ran checked the time; it seemed like... she wasn’t late, and it wasn’t even mealtime yet. Why were there so many people?

At this moment, the restaurant manager rushed out, visibly excited, trembling as he grabbed An Ran’s hand: ”An Ran, why didn’t you tell everyone about the great thing you did?”

An Ran was utterly confused. Seeing the manager so excited made her feel uneasy all over. She pulled her hand out of the manager’s grip and awkwardly said, ”What great thing did I do?”

She hadn’t made any mistakes in the past few days, and judging by the manager’s reaction, it didn’t seem like she had done something wrong either.

”Oh, don’t just stand here, the leaders are all waiting inside.” The manager, without giving her a chance to refuse, grabbed her by the hand again and pulled her into the room.

Once inside, An Ran realized that most of the people were wearing guard uniforms, and a few middle-aged men in formal attire were looking at her kindly.

At this moment, a man dressed in a guard uniform marched up to her, gave a sharp salute, and An Ran’s heart also seemed to skip a beat.

”Excuse me, are you Miss An Ran?”

An Ran nodded, ”I am.”

After getting a positive answer, the team member first introduced himself, then introduced the people behind him. It turned out that these people already knew about her rescue act. The team member represented the Guard Team, and the people behind him were government officials representing Nan’an City, inviting An Ran to attend the commendation ceremony for flood relief and disaster rescue.

An Ran quietly patted her chest. Just a commendation ceremony, right? This grand setup really scared her; she had really thought she was in trouble.

But what she didn’t know was that the grand setup was entirely because of the person she saved.

”It’s actually not necessary. I just happened to be passing by. I believe anyone would have saved him if they saw him.” An Ran waved her hand to refuse. Having just arrived in Nan’an, she really didn’t want to be in the spotlight like this. Moreover, she had run away. Attending the commendation ceremony might mean being on TV. Would Sun Xuehui come to catch her if she saw it?

”Miss An Ran, your act of saving someone sets an example for all the citizens. The commendation ceremony is meant to honor heroes like you. At that time, not only will you be awarded the honorary title of a courageous good citizen, but you will also receive a financial reward. These are incentives for people to learn from you, so we hope you don’t refuse.” A team member who looked like an officer said, with others echoing his words.

Alright, she admitted it. She was tempted by the word ”reward.” The restaurant’s monthly salary was just over a thousand yuan. At this rate, when would she save enough for her tuition?

This reward was undoubtedly a timely help for her.

After informing her of the time of the commendation ceremony, the group said a lot more things that An Ran couldn’t quite understand before finally leaving.

After seeing off the guests, the restaurant manager’s eyes sparkled when looking at An Ran, and his excitement never waned.

”My instincts were right. At the interview, I felt this young lady had a kind face. See, it turns out she is a hero who saved someone. You don’t need any more probation period. I’ll tell finance to give you the salary of a formal employee at the end of the month.” The manager said to An Ran, gratified.
