Peerless Medical Emperor

Now that the new members of Medical God Island had been confirmed, all that remained was to wait for Lone Wolf to complete his work on schedule.

“Lone Wolf, what’s your progress? I’ve already contacted the media to help promote Medical God Island once you’re ready, so I hope you can speed things up!”

Chen Qingdi had wanted to share this good news with Lone Wolf, but he was unexpectedly met with bad news from the other end.

“Boss, I have failed you. I don’t think I can deliver on schedule. Something’s come up over here, and I’m afraid we’ll be delayed by about half a month.”

Chen Qingdi immediately grew tense at his words and asked in a low voice, “What exactly happened?”

Public interest in Medical God Island was at an all-time high, making this the perfect time for Chen Qingdi to expand it. For Lone Wolf to be unable to complete his task on schedule—wasn’t this a major setback for his plans?

“The weather has been erratic lately, with constant gales and downpours, making construction impossible. On top of that, a recent typhoon destroyed half of the new structures, so the construction team can’t get any work done,” Lone Wolf said from the other end of the line, sounding helpless.

“How can anyone work in this damn weather? Forget it. For now, just secure the site. We’ll worry about the rest later,” Chen Qingdi said with a sigh.

There was nothing he could do. No one could stop a sudden typhoon. Even if Lone Wolf had the will, he couldn’t make bricks without straw.

After hanging up, Chen Qingdi felt a sense of helplessness. If they couldn’t finish on time, they would be hit by a tidal wave of public condemnation and criticism.

He had anticipated this, but the situation still felt tricky to handle.

Just then, a knock sounded at the door. It swung open to reveal a beautiful woman in a professional business suit.

The person who entered was the assistant in charge of coordinating with Lone Wolf on the Medical God Island project.

“President, I’ve looked into it. The typhoon’s effects on Medical God Island should dissipate in about three days. However, the impact doesn’t stop there. The acquisition and transport of many raw materials have also been affected,” the woman said, getting straight to the point as she walked in.

Hearing this, Chen Qingdi raised an eyebrow. “Oh? Tell me the details.”

“According to current statistics, the price of raw materials from the sea near Medical God Island has increased more than a hundredfold. The sale of many medicines has also been affected, especially precious medicinal herbs, whose prices have multiplied several times over!” the woman said gravely.

“What? Prices have gone up? By that much? Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”

Chen Qingdi was utterly astonished by her report, clearly shaken.

“I’m positive. The increase is so large, it’s staggering!”

The woman explained with a wry smile, “President, you may not be aware, but the international market is fiercely competitive right now. Foreign countries are so eager to get a foothold that it’s like they want to move their pharmaceutical factories directly into Daxia. This has caused the price of medicinal materials to skyrocket, and there are even counterfeit and inferior drugs appearing, which is seriously damaging the credibility of our doctors!”

“That’s insane!”

After listening to the woman, Chen Qingdi’s expression grew even more solemn. He felt the weight of his responsibility increase.

He knew full well what a devastating blow it would be to the entire medical field if he couldn’t guarantee the health of every patient.

“I’ll handle this matter personally. You have your people keep the project on track,” Chen Qingdi ordered before turning and leaving the villa.

Sitting in his car, Chen Qingdi took out his phone and dialed Lone Wolf’s number.

BEEP…

The call connected, and Lone Wolf’s respectful voice came from the other end. “Master!”

“Lone Wolf, where are you now?” Chen Qingdi asked in a low voice.

“I just got back from the construction site. Work here is in full swing. I estimate we can finish in about two more weeks,” Lone Wolf replied.

“Good. Keep up the hard work and try to shorten that time as much as possible,” Chen Qingdi instructed.

“Rest assured, Master. I will do everything in my power to complete the task you’ve assigned me,” Lone Wolf guaranteed.

After exchanging a few more words, Chen Qingdi hung up.

After hanging up, a look of determination appeared on Chen Qingdi’s face. He had made his decision. He had to see this project through, no matter what.

‘Lone Wolf, since we can’t meet the original deadline, don’t get too discouraged. Just dispatch a professional engineering team to Medical God Island to repair the buildings. Spare no expense,’ Chen Qingdi muttered to himself.

Having dealt with the issue with Lone Wolf, Chen Qingdi personally drove to a pharmaceutical factory to find its director.

At that moment, the factory’s director was out for a run, dripping with sweat.

“You’re Li Wei?” Chen Qingdi asked coolly, glancing at the man’s slightly overweight frame.

“President Chen, hello. Yes, I’m Li Wei,” the man said, quickly stopping and speaking respectfully.

“Hello. I’m Chen Qingdi. I’d like to discuss your company’s procurement of medicinal materials.”

“Of course. President Chen, please follow me.” Li Wei quickly led Chen Qingdi aside.

Stopping in front of a warehouse, Li Wei said, “President Chen, this is our warehouse. Inside, we have a lot of medicinal materials and processing equipment, all of which we shipped from abroad.”

“Good. Let’s go inside the warehouse to talk in detail.”

With that, Chen Qingdi walked straight inside.

Inside the warehouse, aside from a few container trucks, there was only some small equipment. It was all new, clearly having just been delivered.

Chen Qingdi inspected it all carefully before turning to Li Wei with a frown. “This equipment is new, but it’s also clearly used. How do you store it?”

Hearing his question, Li Wei gave an awkward laugh. “President Chen, to be honest, this shipment was on a very tight schedule, so we couldn’t procure new equipment from overseas. We had to use our own. Of course, we can compensate you for a portion of the cost.”

“No! The performance of this equipment isn’t top-of-the-line. We need more advanced technology, and you must procure it as soon as possible. Also, we need a variety of skilled workers. I don’t want to have Medical God Island built only for you to tell me the equipment is broken!”

Chen Qingdi refused, shaking his head.

At these words, Li Wei’s expression became hesitant.

“What, are my terms not good enough? Fine, I’ll offer another one. Our demand for medicinal ingredients is massive. You must provide us with sufficient raw materials and guarantee their quality. That should be acceptable, right?” Chen Qingdi said with a smile, his eyes narrowing.

Hearing this, Li Wei nodded. “That… could be possible, but our factory’s efficiency is very low. We can generally only rush-produce about a kilogram of a single medicine. This…”

“I understand all that. We will provide you with the raw materials, but you will need to work overtime to rush the production,” Chen Qingdi said seriously.

“No problem! As long as President Chen can provide sufficient raw materials, I guarantee we can complete ten thousand doses in five days,” Li Wei said, pounding his chest in assurance.
