Transmigrating Into a Book, the Villain Becomes the White Moonlight!

68: Chapter 68 A Date at the Rice Noodle Shop~It would have been fine if he hadn’t thought about it, but once it was mentioned, he couldn’t even sleep soundly all morning, his thoughts spinning in various conspiracy theories.

The bell for the end of morning classes finally rang. Su Bai rubbed his somewhat stiff neck and habitually started to walk out of the classroom.

As he reached the door, as if possessed, he paused and subconsciously glanced back at his seat.

With that one glance, he happened to lock eyes with Lin Wan—she hadn’t stood up yet, just sat there slowly packing her things, her eyes unblinkingly following his figure.

That look... how should he put it? It carried a hint of cautious expectation and a touch of anxiety as if she were afraid he had forgotten. Combined with her cold and exquisite face, it created an extremely discordant yet somewhat funny effect of someone waiting expectantly.

The corner of Su Bai’s mouth twitched imperceptibly. The irritation regarding Xiao Fan seemed to be diluted a bit by this strange scene.

He turned around and, facing Lin Wan, spoke two words without much emotion, in a volume that was low but loud enough for her to hear clearly:

”Let’s go, eat.”

”Okay!” Lin Wan responded almost instantly, a trace of uncontrollable lightheartedness in her voice as she immediately stood up from her chair.

She moved so fast that even her best friend behind her was stunned, subconsciously grabbing the hem of her school uniform: ”Wanwan, you’re not eating with me today?”

”Yeah, I... have something to do.” Lin Wan hurriedly dropped those words. Her gaze was already chasing Su Bai’s back, which was about to disappear at the end of the corridor. She didn’t have time to explain further, grabbed her small bag, and quickly chased after him.

The abandoned best friend watched her friend’s rapidly receding back, shook her head helplessly, and muttered softly: ”Tsk, so this is what they call sisterhood, thinner than paper...”

Sitting in the back row, Zhou Feng, who happened to witness the whole process, imitated the girl’s manner, shaking his head exaggeratedly and sighing: ”Alas, so this is what they call brotherhood... We agreed to explore the new window at the cafeteria together, but someone stood me up for a beauty. A perfectly good lunch is suddenly gone, how tragic, how tragic...”

”Alright, stop wailing.” On the other side of the aisle, Little Fatty closed his exercise book, tossed his head coolly, and gave Zhou Feng a look, ”Brother Feng, this noon, this little brother will treat you. Let’s go~”

”You’re treating me?” Zhou Feng looked Little Fatty up and down suspiciously, ”Is the sun rising from the west? Don’t you cry poverty every day, saying your old man has placed an economic blockade on you? Su Bai isn’t on duty until next week, where did you get the extra rations this week?”

”Aha! That’s the key point!” Little Fatty leaned in mysteriously and lowered his voice, ”If Dad doesn’t give it, I can earn it myself!”

”Earn it yourself? How? Teach me if there’s such a good way!” Zhou Feng’s eyes lit up, and he immediately became energetic, leaning his head in.

Little Fatty deliberately kept him in suspense, patted Zhou Feng’s shoulder, and shook his head: ”You? Not for now. Your League of Legends skills are too ’appetizing,’ I can’t carry you. As for how to earn it... hehe, even if I told you, you wouldn’t be able to do it. Anyway, I’m rich now! Don’t ask, just follow me, I guarantee you’ll be eating and drinking the best!”

He puffed out his chest, which didn’t have much muscle, putting on an air of ’I’ve got your back.’

Zhou Feng was half-doubting, but the temptation of a free lunch was too great. He hooked his arm around Little Fatty’s shoulder, and the two of them walked towards another direction outside the school gate, laughing and joking.

Campus Tree-Lined Path

Lin Wan jogged a few steps before catching up with Su Bai’s long-legged stride.

”Su Bai, slow down! Why are you walking so fast?” She panted slightly, her cheeks flushed with a faint pink hue.

”Hurry up, Eldest Miss.” Su Bai didn’t look back, though his pace slowed slightly, ”Not being enthusiastic about eating is an ideological problem. Let’s get this straight first, you’re treating today.”

He announced matter-of-factly.

”I’m treating?!” Lin Wan’s eyes widened slightly as she caught up and walked side-by-side with him, turning her head to look at him with a hint of unbelievable coquettishness in her tone, ”You, a person with a monthly revenue of over a billion, are making me, a poor student, treat? Isn’t it agreed that when a guy and a girl go out to... eat, the guy pays?”

She almost blurted out ’date,’ but fortunately, she braked in time.

”That’s the company’s money, can it be spent recklessly? You have to distinguish between public and private, understand?” Su Bai glanced at her, his reasoning sound.

”Then... I don’t believe your family doesn’t give you pocket money! Uncle Su and Auntie Shang dote on you so much.” Lin Wan retorted unyieldingly.

”They do, but that’s my own money.” Su Bai answered as if it were natural, even looking at her somewhat strangely, ”Why should I spend my money on you?”

Foul-mouthed jerk! Stingy ghost! Hardcore straight man!

Lin Wan was so choked by these words that her breath felt blocked in her chest. Her expression instantly became puffed up, like a squirrel whose pine nuts had been stolen.

She turned her head away, not wanting him to see her frustrated look.

But after only a few seconds, when she stole a glance at Su Bai’s smooth profile with the corner of her eye and saw him bathed in the noon glow, looking somewhat impatient yet vivid and lively, that tiny bit of annoyance in her heart mysteriously dissipated, turning into a secret sliver of joy.

At least... he agreed to eat together. And, it’s just the two of us.

She quietly adjusted her breathing, and when she turned back, her face had returned to calm, with even a slight curve at the corners of her lips.

The shadows of the boy and girl walking side-by-side were stretched long.

Who eventually paid for this lunch didn’t seem so important anymore. What mattered was that a certain thick ice seemed to be quietly melting its first crack on this seemingly ordinary noon.

It wasn’t until they left the campus that Lin Wan noticed Uncle Fu was not far from the school gate, clearly waiting for Su Bai.

”Young Master, what did you need me for?” Uncle Fu stepped forward to inquire.

”Help me find someone. A boy, probably about my age, returned from abroad, named Xiao Fan,” Su Bai answered quickly.

Uncle Fu was taken aback, but quickly recovered and said, ”Why are you looking for him?”

”Tsk, it’s annoying. Just find him, I’ll handle it myself,” Su Bai responded.

In fact, the people around him—his parents, Uncle Fu, and even the friend he had now, Zhou Feng—were all very good to him.

If it was destined to be a life-and-death struggle between him and the Protagonist, Su Bai didn’t want to affect others.

After all, when the Protagonists of many novel worlds take action, they deal with everyone around the Villain as well. Su Bai wasn’t afraid of dying, just afraid of involving others.

He had said this was a job without feelings, but he still ended up with some attachments.

”Understood.” Uncle Fu nodded, his eyes flickering as if he had seen through Su Bai’s thoughts, and then drove away.

Lin Wan, who was behind, finally caught up and said hurriedly, ”What’s wrong? Is something the matter?”

”Nothing, let’s eat. You’re sure you can eat spicy food, right?” Su Bai said, turning around.

”I, I can!” Lin Wan didn’t hesitate much.

Su Bai smiled and walked with Lin Wan toward the rice noodle shop where Mu Xue worked.
