Transmigrating Into a Book, the Villain Becomes the White Moonlight!

55: Chapter 55 Cake, Birthday Cake! She took out her phone, thought for a moment, and found a number she had almost never actively contacted. She drafted a short message:

”Lin Wan, are you in the classroom? Would you mind coming to the stairwell corner? I need your help with something.”

Sent.

Mu Xue, holding the carefully prepared box of intentions, leaned against the white tiled wall of the stairwell.

She didn’t wait long before familiar footsteps came from upstairs, and Lin Wan’s figure appeared around the corner.

Over the past year, due to matters concerning the Su Corporation Charity, the two of them had quite a bit of contact.

Lin Wan was the visible active participant, while Mu Xue was one of the beneficiaries, later occasionally participating in some simple volunteer activities.

To outsiders, they seemed to be good friends, at least on the surface.

”What’s wrong? Why are you suddenly looking for me?” Lin Wan walked up to Mu Xue, her gaze naturally falling on the exquisite cake box, her tone carrying a hint of confusion.

Normally, Mu Xue almost never contacted her proactively.

”Um... this,” Mu Xue offered the cake box in her hand forward. She lowered her eyes, her voice very soft.

”It’s a cake Su Bai ordered. Could I trouble you... to take it in and put it on his desk for me? If I take it in directly, I’m afraid... afraid people will misunderstand again and spread rumors.”

The previous uproar was only suppressed by Su Bai’s almost thunderous methods.

Mu Xue knew better than anyone that she couldn’t become the starting point for any more negative public opinion about him.

Although deep down, she longed for their relationship to become real, to openly stand by his side as Su Bai’s girlfriend, the lessons of reality forced her to be cautious.

In Su Bai’s class, the only person she knew and could trust with this matter was Lin Wan.

It would be most natural for Lin Wan to take it in.

”Su Bai ordered it?” Lin Wan was slightly startled, instinctively taking the cake box.

The transparent packaging allowed her to see the contents at a glance—two small, exquisite cream cakes, adorned with fresh fruit, meticulously crafted.

And most striking of all was the small, yet incredibly prominent, heart outlined in bright red cream on top of the cake.

Lin Wan’s fingertips tightened slightly.

Her engagement with Su Bai, seemingly spread throughout the upper echelons of A City.

But in the relatively simple environment of the campus, in the eyes of most ordinary students, Su Bai and Lin Wan were more like wealthy children whose families cooperated in charity work, at most thought to be quite familiar with each other.

From Mu Xue’s perspective, it clearly belonged to the latter.

She only knew that Lin Wan was an active participant in Su Corporation Charity, a classmate of Su Bai’s, and perhaps from a good family, but she hadn’t linked Lin Wan with Su Bai’s fiancée.

”Okay, then... thank you for your trouble, I’ll go now!” Mu Xue finished hastily, then lowered her head and quickly left the stairwell, almost as if fleeing.

Her heart was pounding, afraid that if she stayed one second longer, the nervousness on her face from secretly drawing a heart on the cake would be seen through by Lin Wan.

After all, the most core and most unspeakable aspect of her relationship with Su Bai, their sugar baby arrangement, was an absolute secret she had to guard, especially in front of Lin Wan, a girl she considered a friend and who had public cooperation with Su Bai.

Watching Mu Xue’s hurried departure, Lin Wan stood alone in the quiet stairwell, holding the cake box.

She held the box up to her eyes, her gaze piercing through the transparent packaging, once again falling on that small but vibrant red heart. The corners of her mouth involuntarily curved into a soft smile.

A smile mixed with sweetness and a faint shyness bloomed between her usually cool and clear brows.

She admired it happily for several moments before lightly stepping back to the classroom with the cake.

”Oh? Class Monitor, where did you get the cake? It’s so exquisite!” Sharp-eyed Zhou Feng was the first to notice, asking loudly with his usual teasing tone.

Lin Wan walked back to her seat and carefully placed the cake box in the center of her desk, as if it were a fragile treasure.

She raised her face, and that delicate face, usually expressionless, actually showed a rare faint blush, her eyes sparkling with an uncharacteristic, slightly shy glow.

She cleared her throat, her voice not loud, but clear enough for those around her to hear: ”Today... is my birthday. I’m treating everyone to dinner tonight.”

”Really?! Happy birthday, Class Monitor!” Little Fatty next door, hearing there was food, immediately turned around excitedly, his voice booming.

Lin Wan nodded, her gaze involuntarily drifting back to the cake on the table.

Looking at this cake that Su Bai had ordered for her, her heart felt as if a spoonful of warm honey had been poured into it, sweet and delightful.

This guy... last week he said he had no time with a cold face, but he still secretly remembered the date and ordered a cake for her.

This clearly showed he was saying one thing but meaning another, actually remembering it perfectly well!

This realization instantly dispelled most of the gloom caused by Su Bai’s cold attitude in recent days, even giving rise to a hint of secret joy that he actually cared.

”This cake...” Zhou Feng narrowed his eyes from behind, his gaze shifting between the cake and Lin Wan’s unusual expression. He deliberately drew out his words, raising an eyebrow as he asked, ”Could it be... from Su Bai?”

When had this Class Monitor ever shown such a girlish demeanor?

The source of a gift that could make her react this way was practically self-evident.

Lin Wan didn’t directly admit it, but she didn’t deny it either; she just felt her ears growing hotter.

She avoided Zhou Feng’s probing gaze and quickly said, ”I’ll book the place. Everyone walks together after school this afternoon.”

She tried hard to maintain a calm tone, but the lingering shyness had already betrayed her thoughts completely.

Meanwhile, at the Su Family Villa.

Su Bai was deeply entangled in the comfort of his quilt but was mercilessly pulled up by his mother, Shang Hui.

”Get up quickly, and perk up! Your Uncle Lin just called and wants you to go to the company; he says there’s an important matter to discuss.”

”What’s wrong again... game bug? Server crashed?” Su Bai, still sleepy, reluctantly squirmed into a sitting position, his hair a mess like a bird’s nest.

He just wanted to quietly slack off, but trouble always came uninvited.

”I heard it’s about the competition you mentioned earlier; they need you to go and help make decisions,” Shang Hui said, tossing a coordinated outfit onto the bed.

Hearing this, Su Bai sighed inwardly. This was probably what they called ’reaping what you sow,’ wasn’t it?

His initial motive was as pure as could be—he simply wanted to bring back the game he missed so he’d have someone to play with.

What fun is a Versus game if there’s no one to play against?

So, making the game popular was a must. Now, with players flocking in, came all sorts of troubles brought by the expanding scale: tournaments, operations, ecosystem building... one after another, they all came knocking.
